Chapter 2548 - 2330: Wolfish Ambition (Part 2)
Chapter 2548: Chapter 2330: Wolfish Ambition (Part 2)
Back in her own office, she found it packed with people.
Director Wu, Dean Liu, Director Wang, Lin Su’er, Lu Yaobing, Chen Xue, and the other hospital leaders were all there, crammed into the room.
"Director Wang, Dean Liu, what’s going on? Were you looking for me?" Feng Huihui forced a smile.
"Where did you run off to?" Spit flew from Liu Changhong’s mouth, glittering in the sunlight.
"I—Dean Liu, my son fell ill, I went home to check on him." In front of Dean Liu, Feng Huihui’s attitude was downright deferential; compared with how she’d treated Lu Yaobing, and that hepatitis B patient earlier, she was practically a different person.
Hearing Feng Huihui’s explanation, Wang Manshan let out a heavy sigh.
Director Wu’s face also darkened as he looked at her.
"You left your post without permission, then lied about it. What’s more important, your damn dog or the patient? And you think you’re fit to be a physician?" Director Wu finally spoke.
Feng Huihui was struck dumb.
Strictly speaking, walking off the job wasn’t some huge crime—because even though she wasn’t there, Li Jiachen was still in the office. You could put it mildly and call it covering a shift; call it harshly and it was dereliction of duty, no sense of responsibility, no professional ethics.
But it never occurred to Feng Huihui that Li Jiachen’s vicious plan for Chen Xue would actually be caught red-handed by Director Wu of the Health Bureau. And with her off post, even if it hadn’t been intentional, it was still dereliction of duty—no way she was wriggling out of that.
Chapter 2331: Serious Disciplinary Action
"Dean Liu, a physician this irresponsible, abandoning her post like that—we must deal with her strictly. The rest of you, leave us." Director Wu said to Liu Changhong.
Liu Changhong understood. Li Jiachen and Feng Huihui weren’t the same. Feng Huihui was just someone whose heart had gone rotten, but she hadn’t crossed into serious criminal behavior. Whereas Li Jiachen had been caught in the act and had to be handled severely. By comparison, there was still some room to salvage Feng Huihui.
Leaving her to be handled by Liu Changhong—that was Director Wu’s way of giving Feng Huihui a break.
Liu Changhong quickly turned around and gave Wang Manshan a little nod.
Catching on, Wang Manshan said to Feng Huihui, "Doctor Feng, come on, let’s go to my office."
So Liu Changhong, Wang Manshan, and Feng Huihui all left the office.
Left in the office were only Lu Yaobing, Lin Su’er, Chen Xue, Director Wu, and Director Wu’s assistant; the other hospital leaders had all gone out with Dean Liu.
"Student Lu, take Student Chen back and let her rest. Don’t worry, I’ll see that you get an explanation for what happened here." Director Wu said to Lu Yaobing and Chen Xue.
It was mainly meant for Lu Yaobing and Lin Su’er to hear.
One was Song Xiaodong’s apprentice, the other was Song Xiaodong’s wife—neither one was easy to mess with. If these two weren’t satisfied, Director Wu was afraid that that Song fellow would pull another big ’Heavenly Palace riot.’
Lu Yaobing wasn’t one for scheming; she felt Director Wu’s words made sense, so she turned to Chen Xue and said, "Xue’er, let’s go, we’ll head back to campus first, okay?"
"Mm." Chen Xue nodded while wiping away tears.
Lin Su’er added, "Director Wu, then we’ll be going. I hope Chen Xue can quickly be assigned a qualified internship supervisor."
Director Wu caught her meaning and said to Director Lin, "Don’t worry, I’ll speak to Liu Changhong in a bit and have him take care of it immediately."
"If that’s the case, Director Wu, we’ll head out first. I’ll send the two of them back to school."
"All right."
Lin Su’er escorted Chen Xue and Lu Yaobing back to their dorm.
On the way, Chen Xue said to Lu Yaobing, "Thank you, Bingbing—and thank you too, Sister Su’er."
"Thank me for what? This whole thing started because of me. You were basically suffering in my place; I still feel guilty about it." Lu Yaobing said to Chen Xue.
"But now you don’t have to worry anymore, Xue’er. This has already blown up to Director Wu’s level. From today on, I can guarantee that in this hospital—from the dean down to the cleaners—no one will dare lay a finger on you." Lin Su’er said to Chen Xue.
"Mm..."
In Wang Manshan’s office, Liu Changhong sat in Wang Manshan’s desk chair, Wang Manshan sat on the sofa, and Feng Huihui stood on the floor as the two of them laid into her.
"You wolf-hearted, dog-lunged piece of trash! You’ve worked with Li Jiachen for years—are you saying you don’t know what kind of animal he is?" Wang Manshan glared, his eyes bulging, the veins at his temples standing out, nostrils flared wide like two sets of blinds spewing out hot, furious breath.
"Do you realize what this amounts to? You were an accomplice! If Li Jiachen ends up in prison, you’re going to prison too!" Wang Manshan’s lips were trembling with rage, his neck flushed scarlet.
Laid out and cursed within an inch of her life, Feng Huihui pressed her lips tightly together, biting down on her molars, chest heaving, fists clenched as she listened to Wang Manshan berate her, forcing herself not to explode, feeling like her heart disease was about to act up.
"What kind of deep grudge do you have against that Chen Xue, huh? From what I’ve seen she’s a perfectly sweet kid—so why were you so hellbent on sending her to that beast Li Jiachen? Were you deliberately trying to destroy her, is that it? Huh? What kind of twisted motive is that? Did a dog eat your conscience?" The features on Wang Manshan’s face were all knotted together; his eyebrows looked like they were about to fly off his face, his hair stood on end, and his eyes seemed ready to spit fire.
"Why did you do it?" Sitting in Wang Manshan’s desk chair, Liu Changhong leaned to one side, one leg crossed over the other. The veins on his forehead pulsed with each breath, his nostrils flaring open and closed, his breathing heavy and slow, as if suppressing something, forcing it not to erupt.
Head bowed, eyes fixed on the floor, Feng Huihui’s head moved back and forth in small, stubborn shakes, full of resentment and defiance.
