Huang Qingyuan and Zheng Lulu felt a bit pressured and nervous upon learning that this person is the deputy director of the police department.

"What's this, Mr. Song? If you weren't alone, you wouldn't have come?" Chu Xianling asked Qiao Yutong with a smile.

Song Xiaodong looked at the similarly smiling Chu Xianling and Qiao Yutong and felt a headache coming on.

This was the first solo confrontation between the vinegar jar and the wild woman.

"Not really, I just think if Mr. Song is having dinner with someone to discuss something important, wouldn't my uninvited appearance just be a waste of time?" Qiao Yutong replied.

"No worries, Tong Tong, we just happened to meet while out playing. This is my college classmate, since we bumped into each other, we're simply having dinner together, nothing serious to discuss. Hurry up and sit down, Boss Huang has just brought us more dishes, and we're worried we can't finish it all." Chu Xianling warmly said to Qiao Yutong.

Song Xiaodong tried to find a trace of jealousy in Chu Xianling's enthusiastic smile, but Chu Xianling's smile towards Qiao Yutong was so naturally warm, cordial, and cheerful, showing no sign of displeasure.

Song Xiaodong couldn't help but shake his head lightly, sighing inwardly: "Women are born actors, this saying is really true, women are truly frightening."

"Really? In that case, I won't be polite, I barely had dinner tonight!" Qiao Yutong sat down on the other side of Song Xiaodong.

"This is my classmate Huang Qingyuan, this is Huang Qingyuan's fiancée Zheng Lulu, and this is Zheng Lulu's close friend Zhou Xuan." Chu Xianling introduced Zheng Lulu, Zhou Xuan, and Huang Qingyuan to Qiao Yutong.

"Hello, hello." Qiao Yutong nodded at the three.

Huang Qingyuan, Zheng Lulu, and Zhou Xuan started feeling uneasy.

"Why are you still not off work so late?" Song Xiaodong asked Qiao Yutong.

"I'm on duty today. I heard there was a fight, and then the young colleagues below told me Mr. Song is here having barbecue. I happen to be on duty with a growling stomach, so I figured if I could come and mooch a meal, it would be great." Qiao Yutong said while watching Chu Xianling's expression.

This situation indeed felt a bit over the top. If Song Xiaodong was discussing business or any other matters with others, Qiao Yutong coming to mooch a meal would be justifiable. But she didn't expect Chu Xianling to be there too, and by the time she realized it, it was too late to turn around and leave.

"Xianling, it's not your Xiaodong who got into a fight again, is it?" Qiao Yutong asked Chu Xianling.

"No, it was them two, had a little argument with the store owner, it's resolved now." Chu Xianling pointed towards Zheng Lulu and Huang Qingyuan with her hand.

"Yeah, yeah," Zheng Lulu and Huang Qingyuan said with awkward smiles and difficult expressions.

No matter what, they never thought that because of a hair in a dish, it alarmed the deputy director of Minghe City Police Department.

"As long as it's resolved, I'm about to finish my shift soon, if anything happens, I might have to work overtime." Qiao Yutong said as she looked at Song Xiaodong.

"Director Qiao, the way you say it sounds like we are your work objects, aren't you supposed to go after criminals?" Song Xiaodong joked with Qiao Yutong.

"Maintaining public order is our responsibility too, even ordinary people fighting falls under my jurisdiction." Qiao Yutong replied.

"Director Qiao, because of a hair in a dish of peanuts and edamame, you wouldn't really take us all back for questioning, right?" Song Xiaodong asked with a smile.

"That's not necessarily true, maybe not others, but someone like you, a frequent visitor of the police department, I have to be cautious." Qiao Yutong replied.

"Hahaha," Chu Xianling laughed cheerfully on the side.

"Look at your knack for connections!" Chu Xianling teased Song Xiaodong.

"Come, Director Qiao, have a chicken butt and nourish yourself." Song Xiaodong smiled, picking up a chicken butt and placing it on Qiao Yutong's plate.

"How rude! How can you talk like that in front of a girl?" Chu Xianling reprimanded Song Xiaodong.

"He's said all sorts of rude things in front of me!" Qiao Yutong blurted out, then realized it might not have been appropriate.

Chu Xianling listened to Qiao Yutong's words, her face still maintaining a pure 12k genuine smile, but under the table, she lifted her foot and stomped hard on Song Xiaodong's foot.

"I don't eat chicken butt! Didn't the TV say all the toxins are in the chicken butt?" Qiao Yutong said.

"That's all nonsense on TV, the toxins are in this little gland here, just remove it." Song Xiaodong pointed at the small protrusion on the chicken butt in Qiao Yutong's plate with his chopsticks.

"Why don't you help Director Qiao take it off yourself?" Chu Xianling nudged Song Xiaodong with her elbow.

"No need, no need!"

Song Xiaodong glanced back and sought Chu Xianling's approval with his eyes.

"Director Qiao, if you eat this chicken butt, we're friends then, don't take me into the department, alright?" Song Xiaodong pleaded with Qiao Yutong.

"Friends? If the emperor breaks the law, he faces the same punishment as commoners, haven't you heard the story of Bao Gong executing his nephew?" Qiao Yutong shot a sideways glance.

"We haven't broken any laws!"

Huang Qingyuan and Zheng Lulu, sitting honestly on the side, watched in disbelief.

This deputy director lacked the airs of a deputy director, talking back and forth with Chu Xianling's husband just like old friends.
