Lu Yaobing angrily stared at the snobbish Secretary Sun and the smug Boss Li, swaggering into Director Li’s office, while she had to go back and rejoin the queue. Originally, she was in the middle of the line, but now she was at the end again.
"Young lady, are you also here for the food safety inspection?" An older woman at the end of the queue saw the argument between Lu Yaobing and Secretary Sun earlier and asked her.
"Yes."
"You’ve started a company so young?" The older woman asked Lu Yaobing.
"It’s not my company, I’m just here running errands." Lu Yaobing replied.
"Young lady, causing trouble like this won’t get you anywhere. Those people are big shots, can’t afford to mess with them. We’re just ordinary folk, shouldn’t think about being on equal footing with them. Just queue up honestly. It’s only one thirty in the afternoon, it’d be lucky if we get to the front by the end of the day." The older woman said.
"Why? When I went to see Director Li, he wasn’t there, but when that guy went, the secretary welcomed him personally. It’s really outrageous!" Lu Yaobing was still angry.
"Oh, that guy. Don’t you realize someone who can meet the director personally isn’t just an ordinary person? And someone whom the director’s secretary welcomes personally, do they really have to queue?" The older woman said.
"Hmph!"
Lu Yaobing continued to queue, feeling frustrated and irritable.
Half an hour passed, and Lu Yaobing kept observing upstairs. Finally, Boss Li finished his conversation with Director Li, and Secretary Sun came down to see him off.
Lu Yaobing left the queue again and went upstairs.
"What are you doing?" Secretary Sun blocked Lu Yaobing.
"I want to see Director Li!" Lu Yaobing grabbed Secretary Sun’s hand, trying to push him aside.
"Director Li isn’t here! I just told you!" Secretary Sun and Lu Yaobing shoved each other, not letting her through.
"You’re lying! If Director Li isn’t here, who was that guy talking to for so long?" Lu Yaobing broke free from Secretary Sun and dashed towards Director Li’s office.
"Come back! Do you think Director Li is someone you can just meet like that? Do you even understand your own worth?" Secretary Sun grabbed Lu Yaobing’s hair from behind, stopping her from entering Director Li’s office.
"You’re supposed to serve the public; he’s the public, aren’t I too? Is your director afraid to meet people, afraid of exposure?" Lu Yaobing yelled as she grabbed Secretary Sun’s hand that was pulling her hair.
"Security! Get someone to catch this crazy woman!" Secretary Sun started scratching Lu Yaobing, who fought back fiercely, leaving both of them with scratches all over.
The security staff heard the commotion and came up, pinning Lu Yaobing down and holding her hands tightly.
"She hit people and tried to barge into Director Li’s office!" Secretary Sun pointed at Lu Yaobing, with fingernail marks showing bits of flesh from her arm.
"He can see Director Li, why can’t I? You people are so snobbish!"
At this moment, the door to Director Li’s office finally opened, and a lean middle-aged man, Director Li himself, stepped out.
"What do you want with me?" Director Li approached Lu Yaobing and asked.
"Application for food safety inspection and production license." Lu Yaobing replied.
"Young sister, the safety inspections do need to be queued at the service window downstairs. Even if you come to me, I can’t give you any special treatment. You still need to queue." Director Li said to Lu Yaobing.
"You’re sitting in your office, then why did she say you weren’t here? He came, and you were here?" Lu Yaobing pointed at Secretary Sun and Boss Li.
"Director Li is so busy, can he see just anyone? If he spends the whole working day receiving people like you, how would he attend to official duties?" Secretary Sun said to Lu Yaobing.
"Okay, release her." Director Li told the security guards holding Lu Yaobing.
The two guards released Lu Yaobing.
"Secretary Sun is right. I have my work, and I don’t have time to meet everyone every day. If everyone needs me to handle their matters personally, we wouldn’t need service windows downstairs, and I’d probably work myself to death." Director Li joked.
"Hahaha," Boss Li laughed heartily to curry favor.
"But, saying I wasn’t here is incorrect." Director Li turned to address Secretary Sun.
"Yes," Secretary Sun hung his head.
"Apologize to this lady." Director Li told Secretary Sun.
"I..." Secretary Sun was disgruntled.
"Apologize."
"Sorry." Secretary Sun apologized without looking at Lu Yaobing.
"Alright, help this lady with her matter." Director Li instructed Secretary Sun.
"Okay."
"Miss, I’m asking Secretary Sun to help you with this, are you satisfied?" Director Li asked Lu Yaobing.
"Okay."
"Then let’s call it a day, everyone disperse." Director Li told everyone.
Director Li saw Boss Li off and returned to his office, leaving Secretary Sun behind.
"Hmph, you’re quite good at making a scene, actually got Director Li out." With Director Li gone, Secretary Sun immediately changed his tune.
Lu Yaobing couldn’t be bothered to speak to Secretary Sun.
"Let’s go, I’ll take you to handle it." Secretary Sun led the way.
While others were queueing at the service window, Secretary Sun took Lu Yaobing inside, found a staff member, and had her fill out forms.
Lu Yaobing carried the beverage factory’s qualifications and documents, filling out long and complex application materials.
