Chapter 2148 - 2005: Corpse Infant (Part 5)

Chapter 2148: Chapter 2005: Corpse Infant (Part 5)

Traveling Daoist bowed towards the void: "Master Yunshui, long time no see."

After a while, from the direction Traveling Daoist was facing, a monk approached.

Clad in a green robe, with a bald head, white eyebrows, white beard, a face full of wrinkles, holding a jujube wooden stick as tall as himself in the left hand and a bowl in the right, he walked over slowly.

"Traveling Daoist, the last time we met was thirty years ago."

"Yes, last time, at least your eyebrows were still black; now they are all white." Traveling Daoist said to Master Yunshui.

"A non-existent mortal body, how can there be white eyebrows?" The old monk said with a smile.

"Esteemed seniors, now is really not the time to chat." Mr. Zhao pointed in the direction of a child in the distance; only the rope snapped into several pieces remained, the child was nowhere to be seen.

"I roughly calculated, this entity is not destined to perish and will likely achieve something in the future," said Master Yunshui.

"A demon creature, what achievements are you talking about?" The young Taoist asked, puzzled.

"Though this creature has considerable divine skills, it hasn’t killed anyone nor committed atrocities yet, indicating it still has some spirituality," Master Yunshui said.

"If you two masters don’t come soon, he might commit atrocities." Mr. Zhao remarked.

Master Yunshui smiled, saying nothing, and with a wave of his hand, the bowl flew out.

From the distance in the desert came a flurry of sounds of flapping and collision. Before long, the bowl flew back. Initially intact, the brass bowl returned with several dents from impacts.

"Hahaha..." Master Yunshui couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

"You’ve dented the bowl I use for alms and travel, how am I supposed to drink water now?" Master Yunshui asked with a smile.

The child appeared in the direction Master Yunshui was asking about, with a playful baby-like smile on his face.

The child laughed at Master Yunshui for a while, then, with a kick of his feet, his body darted toward Master Yunshui like a ghost.

Master Yunshui did not dodge, and in an instant, as the child was about to pounce on him, a golden light suddenly emanated from Master Yunshui’s body, within which a Buddha held a lotus platform, uttering the sound "Om—"

The child collided with the lotus platform and was violently bounced back.

The child rolled on the sand and then dashed towards Master Yunshui again. Once more, golden light shone from Master Yunshui’s body, revealing another Buddha that caught the child with the lotus platform, and uttered the sound "Ma—"

The child, undeterred, became even more determined to collide with Master Yunshui.

Master Yunshui then uttered "Ne, Ba, Mi, Hum," four words, disorienting the child, leaving him dazed.

This was the Six Syllables Great Brightness Mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum. Though the Monkey King could move despite being trapped under Five Fingers Mountain, these six words ultimately subdued him.

The child began to inhale deeply, gathering strength again, and charged towards Master Yunshui. Master Yunshui threw his jujube staff, disappearing together with the child into the desert expanse.

From a distance came the sound of a stick striking a body again. Before long, the jujube staff flew back into Master Yunshui’s hand.

Master Yunshui shook his head and said, "I am not the one destined to subdue him."

"Who is?" The young Taoist asked.

Master Yunshui turned to point at Song Xiaodong.

"We at Dragon Gate have no method to deal with a Corpse Infant," Song Xiaodong shook his head.

"A Corpse Infant is still an infant. When all is said and done, it’s just a child," Master Yunshui said.

Song Xiaodong understood; Master Yunshui wanted him to use Dragon Gate’s silver needles.

Loud thudding sounds came from the desert, and shortly after, the sand in front of everyone was smashed by a heavy object. As the dust settled, it was the child, tired, his belly heaving up and down.

Song Xiaodong flung his hand and released four silver needles, aiming at the child’s wrists and ankles.

"Ding!"

Four faint metal clinking sounds were heard; none of the silver needles penetrated what appeared to be the child’s soft, emaciated skin and flesh.

The child flipped over and vanished again.

Master Yunshui’s staff rose once more, and the sound of fighting echoed from afar.

"This child is impervious to swords and spears, what do we do?" Song Xiaodong asked.

"Even heaven has flaws; how could a person have no weaknesses?" Master Yunshui posed the question back to Song Xiaodong.

Song Xiaodong realized. Before long, the child was again struck down by Master Yunshui’s staff, and Song Xiaodong threw out another silver needle, which landed precisely on the child’s navel.

The child immediately became powerless, his limbs fragile and weak.

The young Taoist shook his hand, and a rope slithered out from his sleeve like a snake, binding the child tightly.

"Thank you, esteemed masters, for your help. Otherwise, who knows how much effort it would take to subdue this creature again."

A contemptuous male voice came from the distance, causing everyone to turn their heads to look.

Two figures stood far away in the desert.

One wearing white clothing, the other in green.

The one in white was a young man in a white suit.

The one in green was a beautiful woman in a long dress.

Song Xiaodong, Sun Yiyi, and Chu Xianling all had complex expressions in their eyes.

They all recognized the one in green.

Qingluan.

They had also seen the young man in the white suit before, on Bozhaojian Island’s Demon’s Corner when the two groups faced off across the sea on two ships.

Song Xiaodong stepped on the sand, his figure transformed into a shadow, sweeping towards the young man under the moonlight, accompanied by swirling yellow sand.

Sun Yiyi and Chu Xianling quickly followed.

"Hmph."

The young man flicked his hand, stirring up a cloud of yellow sand from thin air; Song Xiaodong, Sun Yiyi, and Chu Xianling seemed to crash into a wall, and were bounced back.
