This is the hardest period to get through, because you generally have to wait until the cervix is dilated to ten centimeters before you can start pushing.
As the contractions became more frequent, the cervical opening gradually stretched. At first it felt like a bad period cramp, but as the cervix slowly opened, the pain grew more and more intense. At the beginning, Nianyang could still grit her teeth and stay quiet.
But it fucking hurt too much, like someone was stomping hard on her belly, every step completely merciless.
Nianyang clenched her fists, her breathing grew heavier, her teeth were about to bite through her lips. Li Tingyan’s heart ached like crazy; he wished he could take the pain for her.
He put his hand to Nianyang’s mouth and soothed her, "Bite me, it’ll be over soon..."

Li Tingyan kept his face steady and let her bite. Even when his hand was bitten till it was bloody and mangled, he didn’t make a sound. He even perversely hoped his wife would bite harder, as if that way he could feel the pain she was enduring.
The Doctor watched while monitoring her, and couldn’t help smiling slightly.
"Sir, the cervix is only at three centimeters now, you’ve still got a wait. You can talk to your wife about something else to distract her, like a joke or something?"
Li Tingyan immediately said, "Babe, some people dream of being painters, some dream of being writers. Do you know what my dream is?"
