Chapter 1353 - 1379: General Ward
Chapter 1353: Chapter 1379: General Ward
Jiang Tian was transferred to a regular ward, and the anesthesia hadn’t worn off yet, leaving her in a deep sleep.
Perhaps out of consideration for the woman who had given birth to his child, Lu Xingshen stayed by her side in the ward that night.
Jiang Tian had delivered, her belly was flat, making her seem even more frail.
Other women after childbirth appear slightly fuller.
But she looked even thinner than she had before giving birth.
As she slept with her eyes closed, her chin sharp, her complexion under the light was pale and transparent.
For the first time, Lu Xingshen carefully observed a woman and found that Jiang Tian was actually quite attractive.
At first glance, not stunningly beautiful, but very pleasing to the eye, with a mischievous and cute mole on her cheek.
This tiny, slender girl, ten years younger than him, had given him a child.
Lu Xingshen didn’t understand; to him, Jiang Tian was still a child herself, yet she dared to do something so bold.
"No, it wasn’t me..."
Jiang Tian whispered in her sleep, seeming caught in a nightmare, sweat beads began to form on her face, glistening under the light.
Lu Xingshen hesitated for a moment, took out a handkerchief, and leaned over to wipe her sweat, showing a bit of tenderness.
Jiang Tian’s lashes fluttered, her eyes slightly open, revealing the man’s handsome outline, with an attractive nose that made her heart flutter even in her hazy consciousness.
She softly called out, "Mr. Lu, Lu..."
Lu Xingshen paused, knowing the girl wasn’t fully awake, and murmured in a low voice, "I’m here."
She seemed happy, the corners of her mouth lifting slightly, "You, why did you come? Don’t you dislike me very much?"
Lu Xingshen’s gaze deepened, noticing a strand of hair on Jiang Tian’s cheek, his distinct fingers brushed it aside, his fingertips lingering softly, and he gently said,
"Don’t talk, sleep."
"It hurts..." Jiang Tian murmured softly, her small face scrunched up, eyes teary, looking extremely aggrieved.
Lu Xingshen wasn’t sure what to do either, awkwardly he said,
"Bear with it."
Jiang Tian let out a sob.
"No crying allowed." Lu Xingshen’s voice sank, scaring Jiang Tian as her tears welled up, he seemed somewhat helpless, rubbed his temples, and instinctively added,
"Endure it, I’ll make fish soup for you tomorrow."
Despite being a big shot overseeing the hospital, he had gone through all sorts of hardships in his early years; to make money, he had even worked part-time as a chef at the age of fourteen, with fish dishes being his specialty.
And given Jiang Tian’s current state, fish soup would be perfect to nourish her body.
But after his career took off, he hadn’t stepped into the kitchen again.
Jiang Tian seemed to hear the most reassuring answer and continued to sleep peacefully.
Lu Xingshen watched her, suddenly realizing if he was being too good to her. Wasn’t Jiang Tian supposed to be the woman he detested most?
He had decided not to care for her; why was he increasingly drawn in now?
Lu Xingshen furrowed his brows, struggling to understand his actions, but quickly found an excuse for himself.
Enough, for nearly making her lose her life and that of the child, he thought he’d do some good to offset it.
Early the next morning, Liu Qian flew back from abroad.
On the way to the hospital, she called Aunt Zhang to inquire about Jiang Tian’s condition, and then learned something from Aunt Zhang that made her instantly explode.
As she arrived at the hospital entrance, she just saw Lu Xingshen in a coat, carrying a food container, intending to visit Jiang Tian.
"Mom, you’re here."
Lu Xingshen saw Liu Qian approaching angrily, and instinctively hid the food container behind him, not wanting her to see it.
