Chapter 1113 - 1140: At a Loss
Chapter 1113: Chapter 1140: At a Loss
Li Tingyan was at a complete loss. "Nini, don’t get worked up, if you get worked up your stomach will hurt. Think about the baby. If you’re mad you can hit me, just don’t make yourself furious."
"Hit you? What’s the use of hitting you?" Nianyang snapped in anger. "If I’d known you were gonna leave, why’d you have me get pregnant? Men are all big bastard pigs, only care about that moment of pleasure, and afterwards it’s straight to the crematorium!"
"I have the baby and you turn around and leave. A dad like you might as well not exist. If you wanna go, then go. A year and a half later I’ll have the kid call someone else dad. With or without you, it’s all the same anyway."
Li Tingyan was torn between laughing and crying. "Nini, how can you talk like that?"
"What about the way I’m talking? I can say much nastier things." Nianyang let out a few cold laughs, suddenly shoved Li Tingyan away, and pushed him toward the door. "Get out. You can leave right now. I don’t need you anymore. I’ll have this baby on my own, don’t even think about being the kid’s father. Go!"
Afraid she might fall, Li Tingyan let her push him all the way to the doorway. He clung to the doorframe and said miserably, "Nini, it’s almost nighttime. Where am I supposed to go? Even if I have to leave, it doesn’t have to be now."
"Sooner or later you’re leaving anyway. I don’t care where you go!" Nianyang slammed the door shut, then choked up and muttered, "Beijiang is such a mess, we’ll be so far apart. Who knows when you’ll get hurt or end up disabled, who knows if you’ll still be in one piece a year and a half from now. Who the hell wants to live with someone who might just drop off the grid?"
Clinging to the door, Li Tingyan said urgently, "Nini, it’s not as serious as you’re saying. I’m the superior officer, I don’t need to face the dangerous stuff. You can write me letters, we’ll keep in touch by mail, I won’t go missing."
"Go to hell with that. Last time you went to Lian City you also said you were the superior officer. And then what happened after that?"
"I’m in the prime of my life, why the hell should I wait around for you? Who do you think you are? What use do I have for a man like you?"
So what if he was so damn capable? He still couldn’t be by her side all the time. This marriage felt like such a huge grievance for Nianyang.
On a rush of impulse, Li Tingyan blurted out, "Nini, if you’re not at ease, how about this—once I’ve settled in over there for a few months, you can come find me. Would that work?"
Nianyang was furious. "Pah! You sure know how to daydream. When there’s something good you never think of me, but when it’s crap you drag me along. Is Beijiang a place for a pregnant woman to be?"
"You trying to torment your own kid to death or what? I’m not going. If you want to go then go by yourself. Once you leave, you’ll have no wife, no kid, and you can spend the rest of your life eating dirt."
"Nini, don’t threaten me. You know there’s no way I can not go."
"Who’s threatening you? Just take care of yourself. If you’re leaving, then hurry up and go, stop being an eyesore in front of me. Like anyone’s desperate to have you around."
Nianyang snorted coldly, ignored his knocking altogether, curled up on the bed by herself, and pulled the covers over her head to sleep.
"Nini, it’s fine if you’re mad, just don’t forget to turn on the air conditioner, don’t suffocate yourself. And the milk I left on your nightstand, you have to drink it..."
The man’s nagging voice drifted in.
"You’re so damn annoying."
Nianyang kicked her legs in anger, but resigned herself to getting up to turn on the air conditioner, then went to get the milk and drink it.
It had all been prepared in advance by Li Tingyan. Nianyang had never thought much of it before, but only when Li Tingyan was about to leave did she realize what kind of Immortal-like life she’d been living up till now.
Just thinking that once Li Tingyan left, there’d be no one to take such care of her, no one constantly reminding her what to eat and drink, made her feel especially wronged. Even the milk in her hand became an eyesore.
