Chapter 613 - 612: You Want Great Xia to Hand Over the National Guardian Divine Mosquito? No Way
Chapter 613: Chapter 612: You Want Great Xia to Hand Over the National Guardian Divine Mosquito? No Way
The White Eagle Empire.
Newark City.
Headquarters of the Global God-Slaying Alliance.
Over a dozen black chairs were arranged around a massive round table, occupied by Emperor Realm experts from various countries and regions.
Nations without an Emperor Realm expert to represent them didn’t even have the right to enter this conference room.
In the central seat at the round table, Rhodes of the White Eagle Empire leaned forward slightly, his eyes fixed on Lu Lingchen, who sat opposite him.
"Director-General Lu, don’t you think you owe us an explanation?"
The veteran Director-General Lu Lingchen leaned back in his chair, his posture ramrod straight, and said calmly, "I don’t know what you mean."
Rhodes scoffed. "That mosquito of yours from Great Xia wiped out the Sakura Empire. Shouldn’t you give us an explanation for that?"
Lu Lingchen replied calmly, "You must be referring to the National Guardian, the Divine Mosquito. It had nothing to do with the fall of the Sakura Empire."
Andre, the representative from the European Union sitting next to Rhodes, narrowed his eyes and spoke up. "Director-General Lu, stop being so evasive."
He paused, then changed the subject. "If you hadn’t insisted on protecting that mosquito, why would Qin Yuan have abandoned his mission of guarding the incarnation of the Sakura Ancient God?"
"If Qin Yuan hadn’t left, the incarnation of the Sakura Ancient God would never have had the chance to escape."
Lu Lingchen turned to Andre, his gaze as placid as ever. "Guarding the incarnation of the Sakura Ancient God wasn’t a task for Qin Yuan alone. It was your mission as well."
"I’d like to ask, why did you and Chris desert your posts?"
The smile on Andre’s face froze instantly. He opened his mouth, but for a long moment, not a single word came out.
He had intended to use Qin Yuan to make his point, but Lu Lingchen had turned it against him, leaving him in a hole he’d dug for himself.
"Director-General Lu, we’re talking about the mosquito right now. You’re getting a bit off-topic."
Seeing his predicament, Rhodes quickly rapped the table to bail Andre out.
Andre tactfully shut his mouth, lowered his head, and dropped the subject of guarding the incarnation of the Sakura Ancient God.
Lu Lingchen paid him no mind, retracting his gaze. He said calmly, "My Great Xia’s National Guardian, the Divine Mosquito, has done nothing to violate the laws of the Federation. There is nothing to discuss."
"Since Director-General Lu refuses to admit it, I’ll have to present the evidence," Rhodes snorted, waving his hand.
The large screen at the front of the conference room lit up, and a video clip began to play.
In the video, the Sakura Holy Emperor, his face twisted with rage, hysterically condemned Chu Sheng to the camera, accusing him of infiltrating the Sakura national treasury and stealing all the treasures and Cultivation Resources within.
When the video ended, Rhodes looked at Lu Lingchen. "Director-General Lu, the evidence is irrefutable. What do you have to say now?"
Lu Lingchen watched the entire video intently before speaking calmly. "In this video, the so-called theft of the Sakura national treasury by the National Guardian, the Divine Mosquito, is based entirely on the word of the Sakura Holy Emperor."
He lifted his gaze to meet Rhodes’s, unflinching. "From start to finish, there is no evidence whatsoever to prove that the National Guardian, the Divine Mosquito, stole from the Sakura national treasury."
Rhodes was speechless.
Unwilling to concede, he snorted coldly and waved his hand again, changing the image on the screen.
This time, the sky above Tokyo appeared.
The bodies of countless civilians dissolved into motes of fluorescent light, flying ceaselessly toward the sky like a tidal wave.
"Director-General Lu, see for yourself!" Rhodes’s voice was as cold as ice.
"To cultivate and increase its strength, that mosquito cruelly sacrificed millions of civilians in Tokyo! What do you have to say to that?"
Lu Lingchen merely glanced at the screen before replying, "I suggest you look more closely. The deaths of Tokyo’s citizens were caused by the Blood Sacrifice Grand Array that the incarnation of the Sakura Ancient God had set up in advance."
He paused before continuing, "On the contrary, the National Guardian, the Divine Mosquito, was the one who foiled the Sakura Ancient God’s plot and killed its incarnation."
Lu Lingchen’s gaze swept slowly across everyone in the room, his voice calm yet carrying an undeniable authority. "According to the agreement of our Global God-Slaying Alliance, isn’t slaying the incarnation of an Ancient God a great service?"
Rhodes froze, his mouth agape, unsure how to respond.
The Global God-Slaying Alliance was founded for the very purpose of fighting the incarnations of Ancient Gods.
If he continued to use this to condemn Chu Sheng, he would be violating the Alliance’s own rules—a slap in the face to the entire organization.
Rhodes’s expression flickered between pale and flushed. He simply shut off the video on the screen and changed tactics. "Then what about the sudden eruption of Mount Fuji, which triggered a super tsunami that submerged all of Sakura Country? Surely you can’t deny that, Director-General Lu?"
Andre, who had been silent for a while, quickly chimed in with his condemnation. "Exactly! That was a sovereign nation! Gone just like that! Tens of millions of people lost their lives."
"That mosquito is too ruthless! It has no regard for the lives of ordinary people!"
Rahut, the representative from Ying Country, nodded in agreement. "This mosquito already possesses such great Destructive Power. If we allow it to continue growing, I fear every nation on Earth will live under its threat."
The representatives from the other nations nodded one after another, chiming in to condemn Chu Sheng, declaring his actions heinous and demanding he receive the most severe punishment.
Lu Lingchen remained silent, simply lifting the teacup before him and taking a slow sip.
Seeing Lu Lingchen’s silence, a triumphant look appeared on Rhodes’s face.
"What’s the matter, Director-General Lu? At a loss for words now?"
"Hmph! If you have nothing to say, then hand over that mosquito at once. We will judge it together."
Lu Lingchen slowly set down his teacup and spoke calmly, "What evidence do you have to prove the National Guardian, the Divine Mosquito, caused Mount Fuji’s eruption?"
"There’s no need for further excuses, Director-General Lu!" Rhodes’s tone was absolutely certain.
"The entire territory of Sakura Country was submerged by the tsunami, and that mosquito was the only one to survive. Isn’t that enough?"
Lu Lingchen didn’t argue with him. He just waved his hand.
The image on the large screen switched again, this time showing the crater of Mount Fuji.
In the video, the Sakura Holy Emperor was standing at the edge of the crater, saying, "As long as we retrieve the Orochi Mirror, we can launch a sneak attack on Great Xia..."
This was a video Lu Lingchen had specifically requested from Chu Sheng before coming here.
As the video played, the conference room grew increasingly quiet.
The truth was plain to see. The Sakura Holy Emperor himself had entered Mount Fuji and triggered the super tsunami. It had nothing to do with Chu Sheng at all.
Moreover, he had been plotting to attack Great Xia.
After a long silence, Rhodes suddenly slammed his hand on the table, shot to his feet, and shouted, furious and humiliated, "Regardless! That mosquito is an Exotic Beast, and it is no longer a Beast Tamer’s Beast Pet!"
"Those who are not our kin are bound to be disloyal! Keeping it alive is just nurturing a future catastrophe!"
He pointed at Lu Lingchen, his tone unyielding. "Lu Lingchen, I’m giving you two choices."
"Either Great Xia hands that mosquito over to the Alliance for a public trial, immediately."
"Or, from this day forward, the Global God-Slaying Alliance will no longer provide a single soldier of support to Great Xia! When the Alien Race army attacks, Great Xia can fend for itself!"
Everyone in the conference room turned to look at Lu Lingchen.
The main battlefields in the war against the Alien Race were mostly located within Great Xia’s territory.
If the Alliance were to cut off support, Great Xia would be completely unable to hold back the Alien Race army.
Everyone believed that no matter how much Lu Lingchen wanted to protect the mosquito, he would never gamble with the lives of Great Xia’s hundreds of millions of citizens.
He would have to compromise in the end and hand over Chu Sheng.
But to their surprise, Lu Lingchen simply lifted his eyelids, looked at the enraged Rhodes, and calmly uttered two words: "Suit yourself."
