Chapter 751 - 751: 745 Crystal Ball? Alternative Curse
Suddenly, Qin Feng saw a silhouette and was momentarily stunned.
In this realm, dominated predominantly by plant spirits and at most a few pitiful monsters, there were no humans or even humanoid creatures!
This fact had been repeatedly confirmed by the cultivators through the captured plant spirits.
Therefore, Qin Feng’s instinctual reaction upon seeing the silhouette was to wonder if there could be a cultivator who was faster than him, having already arrived here earlier.
But then he thought it wasn’t right. Including him, the Beast Taming Sect had only dispatched two immortals. Each affiliated sect holds immortals as their top war power, reluctant to send them out on scouting missions unless absolutely necessary. Additionally, other major sects’ investigation boundaries weren’t on this side.
Moreover, Qin Feng soon noticed there was something off about that silhouette.
That person was indeed a human, but his location was somewhat peculiar.
He was actually standing on the head of a monster. Whether it was the fierce beast under his feet or other ferocious monsters surrounding them, none showed the slightest reaction as if his presence was natural. Even in their occasional glances at him, there was a evident fear, as they uneasily shifted their bodies.
Qin Feng was certain that person was definitely not a cultivator from the Beast Taming Sect.
He recognized all the elders of the sect, and the spiritual beasts under the elders were all demon beasts from the cultivation world. Although they had later subdued some otherworld demon beasts, he knew both the demon and otherworld beasts well.
These monsters unlike any seen in the cultivation world, nor any that Qin Feng had encountered before in this realm. They were peculiar in many ways.
What was even stranger was how the monsters looked utterly disconcerting; some had tiny bodies like dogs but with huge heads filled with sharp teeth, seemingly capable of swallowing their own bodies!
Others were fat and round like balls, oddly having a pair of bat wings on their back, flying in such a wobbly manner that it seemed they could fall from the sky at any moment!
Some were blood red, as though their scales or skin had been peeled off, and some had eight legs, eight arms, and eight heads, with eyes on their chests and mouths in their stomachs, looking akin to a large stitched-up monster!
There were even some walking unsteadily as if completely unfamiliar with their own bodies.
Besides their fierce aura, these monsters were filled with endless oddities, enough to give anyone with faint hearts nightmares!
Could these monsters be the mutated monsters mentioned by the captured plant spirits?
Qin Feng observed the figure standing on the monster, deep in thought.
Although he did not know where this person had come from, appearing in a world he shouldn’t belong to, possessing the ability to control monsters and even eerily modifying them, it was enough to draw Qin Feng’s attention as a cultivator of the Beast Taming Sect.
However, although Qin Feng’s earlier reconnaissance was discreet, the figure somehow sensed it due its strong strength or sharp perception, looking up in Qin Feng’s direction.
Qin Feng was startled, his figure flickered, and he vanished into the shadows, leaving the spot while the space around him slightly rippled, wrapping him in a spatial barrier.
Luckily, he was not only adept at concealment techniques but also in stealth spells.
Therefore, the figure, shrouded in a large black robe, did not notice Qin Feng. Coupled with a group of migrating plant spirits passing by, he soon withdrew his gaze, silently waiting for the procession to pass by in front of him.
Only when the majority of the group had passed did he extend his left hand from his large, black sleeves.
In his palm hovered a crystal ball the size of a head.
Inside the pristine crystal ball, various lights flickered, and strange runes appeared and disappeared intermittently.
As he uttered a series of undecipherable spells, he pointed forward with the magic wand in his right hand.
Suddenly, except for the monster beneath him, all the monsters in the valley roared simultaneously.
Then they started moving, flapping their wings, and rushed towards the migrating plant spirits not far from the valley exit.
The battle erupted instantly and was exceptionally fierce!
The monsters fearlessly and even seemingly eagerly threw themselves at the plant spirits, utterly disregarding their own exposed vital points.
Such ferocious attacks, combined with the sudden ambush, immediately caused heavy losses among the migrating plant spirits. Many tree demons had their trunks broken, roots and stems bitten through. Yet, the plant spirits’ life force was incredibly resilient; unless their tree hearts and vital spots were hit, even if they lost their ability to fight and fell to the ground, they could still barely cling to life.
Even if given a few years, they might regrow new roots and leaves—although not as graceful as their original trunks—they could continue their lives instead of perishing.
“Damn it, it’s those mutated monsters!”
The group of plant spirits realized it and began to retaliate.
They knew that once these mutated monsters attacked, they would fight relentlessly; now, they either had to flee everywhere or desperately kill these monsters, otherwise, the battle wouldn’t easily stop!
If they encountered a Mutated Monster alone, they would naturally have to flee, but now that the migration involved many different races and numbers, there was no fear of these Mutated Monsters.
In fact, the Plant Spirits in the distance had already hastened their pace towards this side, and even those who had passed by beforehand had turned around to join the battle without a trace of fear.
After all, although Mutated Monsters were troublesome in their memory, their numbers were never too many, especially when led by two Plant Gods!
“Bold!”
True enough, the two Plant Gods soon noticed the turmoil at the rear of the group, and with a scolding shout, they turned back and flew towards here.
The enormous tree bodies floated through the air, and although they were not particularly fast, they exuded a powerful oppressive force.
However, this force did not scare the Mutated Monsters; instead, the battle became even more frenzied, and some of the more powerful Mutated Monsters even leaped from the ground and lunged at the two Plant Gods.
Although this suicidal behavior appeared foolish to the two deities, they had to admit that the resolute attacks of these creatures brought them some trouble and forced them to halt their progress to deal with these monsters.
Thud, thud, thud…
A series of whipping sounds echoed, and although the monsters were ferocious in nature, the immense gap in strength sent them flying with just a few sweeps from the massive branches of the Plant Gods.
Some were not only whipped until their skins split and bones broke, but others were even impaled by tree roots, bursting their bellies open.
In a moment, blood flowed freely, and as the blood fell from the void, so too did their limbs, tails, intestines, and innards. Before even hitting the ground, most of these monsters were already dead, while the remaining two barely struggled up, posing no further threat although their eyes still gleamed with ferocity, one even clenching a small root fiber tightly in its mouth.
This was torn from one of the Plant Gods.
However, the loss of this bit of a root fiber clearly did not concern that deity; such a small portion was insignificant to it and could quickly regrow.
Plant Spirits naturally possessed much greater life force than other life forms; not to mention a small root fiber, even if it’s tree body were directly chopped down, it could still regrow!
The two deities glanced disdainfully at the monsters below.
This was the might of them being deities; not even monsters of the Demigod Realm could match them, let alone they were not merely newly ascended gods, so they easily slaughtered these monsters.
However, the deaths and injuries of these few monsters didn’t seem to frighten the rest. Driven by an unknown force, even more powerful monsters launched themselves, all crazily hurtling towards the two deities.
Even though both trees were deities who had ascended, being attacked by so many powerful monsters at once meant they could only deal with the immediate situation first.
However, before the two Plant Gods could completely deal with the attacking monsters, one of them suddenly screamed in pain, its actions in killing the monsters slowed, and its entire tree body shuddered violently, as if enduring endless agony.
And the monsters didn’t hesitate at all, seizing the moment of weakness to leap up and tear fiercely, and despite not endangering the life of the Plant God, it caused its branches to scatter and leaves to fall, almost severing its roots!
Hiding in the shadows, Qin Feng was suddenly taken aback, his eyes intently fixed on the Plant God being besieged and bitten by the group of monsters, his eyes revealing black and white, activating the Yin Yang Ghost Eye Great Divine Power to carefully examine.
Then, his heart leaped.
Because he recognized why this Plant God suddenly became so disoriented.
Its soul was entwined with strands of weird black qi – the power of a Curse!
As Qin Feng had comprehended the Curse Principle and even had a Crow with innate Curse Divine Power as his Spiritual Beast, he was naturally very familiar with curses
“A curse? Interesting!”
Qin Feng’s spirit flickered, and he instantly thought of the earlier figure shrouded in a black robe, his face obscured.
No need to ask, such a peculiar method of attack must have been carried out by that individual.
And if his guess was correct, the medium for casting the curse must be the piece of root that the monster had risked its life to bite off from the Plant God.
To verify this, Qin Feng silently shifted his position, moving along the shadows to a distant mountain peak, hiding behind a brown rock to peer out.
Indeed, in that valley, Qin Feng saw the figure in a black robe holding a crystal ball, chanting spells over that piece of root.
And the monster that had bitten off and brought back the root lay in agony, its limbs twitching as it lay powerless on the ground. As the spells were chanted by the figure in the black robe, the curse power affecting the Plant God grew stronger, and the monster became increasingly feeble, even its body shrinking, as a visibly potent energy flew out of it, absorbed by the crystal ball, turning into the driving force of the curse!
“A crystal ball?”
Qin Feng’s mind stirred, instantly thinking of a possibility!
