Chapter 518 - 515: Nine-Headed Ghost Fire Flame Dragon
The White Dragon was already strong to begin with, and through the recent years of cultivation in the Demon Refining Pot, along with the Elders of the Beast Taming Sect who had comprehended techniques and Divine Power Magic from the Light Element, and spurred on by Qin Feng’s urgings, this Giant Dragon’s strength had grown at a rate far surpassing those of its kin who lazily slept on Dragon Island.
Nevertheless, even so, a strength at the Purple Mansion Peak was not likely to be a match for the Dharma Image Power, let alone here in the home territory of the Flame Giant.
The Flame Giant, with flames rising from its body, did not even raise a Flame Shield. With a single punch, it exploded the Dragon Breath and, relying on its body alone, withstood the scattering Holy Flame.
The originally strong purifying Holy Flame that fell scattered on the Giant’s body had no effect at all; it couldn’t even penetrate the flames on its body, let alone cause any damage.
Following closely behind, the Qingluan also launched its attack, and the Ghost-Faced Spider took the opportunity to spray strands of web, attempting to bind the Flame Giant.
But the Giant simply waved its War Sword a few times, dispersing their magic spells.
Surprise mixed with excitement shone in the Giant’s eyes; it had not expected the Phoenix to have allies.
Although it had never seen these species of monsters in the Fire Kingdom before, it wasn’t much concerned. The Fire Kingdom was vast, and it only operated in a small region, perhaps these were monsters from some other place that had recently arrived.
Moreover, monsters were prone to mutation. Every few years, some strange and fierce monsters would appear; perhaps these were among them.
But none of that was the point for the Giant; since these monsters dared to appear, he didn’t mind defeating them all or even killing them.
If these three monsters were facing ordinary tribespeople, that would be one thing, but in front of him, they were hardly worth considering, and so the Giant was fearless and grew more and more courageous in battle.
The Phoenix on the other side was also somewhat stunned.
Clearly, it too had been caught off guard by the sudden appearance of the White Dragon and Qingluan.
But it quickly stopped caring about that; whoever these creatures were and wherever they had come from, their willingness to face the Flame Giant alongside it was good news.
It immediately rallied its spirit, and, using the brief respite provided by the White Dragon and Qingluan, it activated its most powerful spell, with flames roaring around its body, turning the clear sky a bright red as countless Fire Rain Meteors fell from the heavens, targeting the Flame Giant and turning the surrounding hundreds of meters into a fiery hell.
The power of such attack was indeed extraordinary, and even among those in the Dharma Image Realm, it would be considered extremely formidable.
In any other place, such an attack would have left an opponent of the same level barely able to defend, and any slight mishap could result in defeat and severe injury.
However, this was the Fire Kingdom, and the Phoenix’s attack targeted the mightiest native race of the Fire Kingdom, the Flame Giants, employing Flame Magic.
Using this type of magic against the Flame Giant naturally reduced its effectiveness significantly, especially since the Flame Giant’s strength was even superior to that of the Phoenix.
The Flame Giant then lifted its foot and stomped heavily onto the ground, causing the flames on the earth to rise and form a spherical Flame Shield around him, protecting his massive body behind it firmly.
Although the hastily summoned Shield couldn’t completely block the Phoenix’s attack, by the time the Shield was breached, the Giant was prepared and swung its War Sword, dispersing most of the Fire Rain Meteors.
Even the few meteors that inevitably struck him only caused some light to moderate wounds, which wouldn’t take much time to fully heal as the Flame Power circulated within his body.
Immediately afterward, the Giant swung its sword, seizing the moment when the Phoenix had just expended its energy on a major spell, and struck fiercely with one sword slash, causing the Phoenix to cry out in pain and almost collapse to the ground.
Had it not been for the White Dragon and Qingluan rushing to its aid, the creature might have had to experience the taste of death once more.
It’s strength was at most that of the early stage in the Dharma Image Realm; it was even somewhat unstable due to certain reasons. Moreover, each time it executed the Bathing Fire Rebirth, it would consume a great deal of origin power. The rebirth would also affect its strength, and without a period of recuperation, it was hard to recover to its peak state. So, it was better to avoid death if possible.
The Phoenix felt lucky that these monsters, which had appeared out of nowhere, had helped tremendously. Clearly weaker by a notch yet they dared to interfere in its fight with the Flame Giant—such courage was commendable indeed.
Assessing its injuries and observing the ongoing battle, it realized that continuing to fight would only lead to defeat sooner or later.
Since that was the case…
Its eyes shifted, a thought flashed through its mind. Seizing the moment when the Flame Giant was occupied with fending off the spells from the White Dragon and the others, it quietly retreated, planning to return to its nest and then escape from this place.
As for these fellows who had suddenly come to its aid, they could continue to wear down the Giant. Once it had fled, the Giant would surely vent its frustration on them, rather than leaving empty-handed.
Although it felt somewhat guilty toward them, staying alive was ultimately the most important thing for itself.
Furthermore, there were other things it couldn’t bear to part with…
Just as it began to retreat, showing its intention to flee the battlefield, it saw the White Dragon and the Qingluan simultaneously flapping their wings, both avoiding the Giant’s onslaught.
As for the Ghost-Faced Spider, it had kept its distance from the very beginning, so it appeared to be the safest.
The Phoenix’s heart skipped a beat. These fellows…
It seemed they weren’t so easy to deceive after all!
Before it could react, the Giant charged once more, swinging its sword down at the Phoenix.
Left with no other choice, the Phoenix had to parry again while it cried out to the Qingluan and the others, indicating that it hadn’t intended to flee but had merely pulled back to prepare a powerful spell.
It alone couldn’t withstand the Giant’s attacks; they would need to work together to fend off their common enemy.
Indeed, as the strongest race of the Fire Kingdom, the Flame Giants were an enemy to all monsters. Although they rarely joined forces in the past, now that they were prepared to fight together, the Phoenix begged them to unite against the foe!
The Phoenix didn’t know whether its words had swayed the other monsters, but they charged once again at the Giant, relieving the Phoenix considerably.
Though victory was still difficult, at least it wasn’t alone in its struggle. Moreover, it still had a chance to escape during the critical moment of the battle.
But next time, it couldn’t afford to be delayed by these creatures again. Perhaps, as it withdrew, it could attack the massive White Dragon, forcing it into a direct confrontation with the Giant and creating an opportunity for its own escape.
Unfortunately, it was not aware that while it was making these calculations, Qin Feng had already covertly infiltrated its nest.
The Phoenix’s nest was not difficult to locate; it had burst out from there earlier. Furthermore, every time it attempted to escape, the Phoenix had no choice but to stop the Giant’s advance toward that direction, so the location of its nest was not hard to deduce.
Besides, Qin Feng had the secret techniques of the Beast Taming Sect at his disposal, which allowed him to easily follow its trail to the nest.
Taking advantage of the intense battle that left no room for distraction, Qin Feng executed the Fire Escape Divine Power, transforming into a flickering flame that slipped into the nest at the peak of the mountain.
It was a huge cave, filled with an astonishing concentration of Fire Spirit Energy.
Deep in the mountain cave, there was a vast bird’s nest constructed from various plants filled with Fire Spirit Energy. Within the nest lay two eggs, each large enough to be hugged and covered with flame patterns.
Qin Feng looked at the two eggs and instantly understood why the Phoenix didn’t flee but instead risked everything to obstruct the Giant repeatedly.
However, he quickly grinned slyly, waved his hand to cast a Prohibition, sealing the cave entrance to prevent any leakage of aura. He then used True Yuan to lift the entire nest and placed it into the fifth layer of the Demon Refining Pot’s space.
The Phoenix had never been a match for the Giant; even if it had managed to escape by the end, these two eggs would have fallen into the Giant’s hands. So, it was better for him to take them instead.
Neither the Giant outside nor the Phoenix noticed Qin Feng’s actions, unaware that the two eggs had already fallen into his possession, and they continued to fight fiercely.
Qin Feng’s figure flashed; he left the cave and concealed himself to watch the battle for a while. He noticed that the Phoenix seemed restless, gradually moving closer to the White Dragon.
With his shrewdness, how could he not see through the bird’s intentions? Using their spiritual connection, he informed the White Dragon to avoid the Phoenix’s approach and to let the cunning Phoenix take the brunt of the battle.
Since the other Spiritual Beasts were not as strong, it was only right for the Phoenix to bear the frontline defense against the Giant.
The battle, after all, had started because of it, and the others were just there to help, so it was only fair.
As the battle grew more intense and the injuries on the Phoenix worsened, Qin Feng narrowed his eyes and after watching for a while, decided the time was ripe. He waved his hand, releasing the Death Curse Crow to cast Curse Flame from a distance upon the Flame Giant.
Then, after giving it some thought, he decided not to show himself directly but released the Ruyi Golden Snake instead, which transformed into a Nine-Headed Ghost Fire Flame Dragon and charged at the Flame Giant.
The Flame Giant was stunned!
What was happening today? A perfectly good battle suddenly saw the emergence of so many monsters coming to help. Could it be that the Fire Kingdom’s monsters had decided to band together and contend with the Giants?
And the flames of these creatures seemed somewhat peculiar, quite different from those of ordinary monsters.
Fortunately, all the creatures Qin Feng had released were capable of using Flame Divine Power. Although their flames varied, they were still related to fire. Even the White Dragon’s Light Holy Flame, which looked like fire on the surface, was hard to distinguish from ordinary flames to those unfamiliar with Light Magic Power.
The Ghost-Faced Spider’s Soul Burning Demon Flame was surely strange, but undoubtedly a flame. While the Qingluan’s Pure Yang Fire exuded a righteous aura, its power was not to be underestimated.
But the two new arrivals were even stranger.
The Flame Giant furrowed its brows deeply.
It was baffled by the Crow — it had suddenly brought an eerie flame upon itself, and despite the Giant’s frantic efforts to extinguish it, the flame refused to die down, giving rise to a sinister premonition. It was as if something was burning away into nothingness along with the strange fire.
And the creature with nine heads was even more outrageous; it was emitting Netherworld Ghost Fire!
It was downright ridiculous — since when did the beings from the Undead Realm dare to enter the Fire Country? Were they not afraid that even their tiniest bit of soul would be shattered, vanishing completely from the world?
Moreover, such Yin fires like the Netherworld Ghost Fire were never taken seriously by the Flame Giants, who viewed them as too weak.
But why was the ghost fire from this nine-headed creature so strangely potent that even his Divine Soul felt severe pain?
Before the Flame Giant could emerge from its confusion and understand what was happening, it suddenly felt a great heaviness, as if its body had become tens of times heavier.
Had it not been for his extraordinary strength, hastily raising a flame shield and simultaneously driving the energy within his body to dispel most of the gravity divine power’s effect on him, he would have likely become immobilized.
“Who is it?”
Startled, he looked around and finally turned his gaze towards Qin Feng’s direction.
Though he did not see Qin Feng’s figure, he sensed that the culprit responsible for the sudden weight burdening his body should be right here.
The Flame Giant felt shocked again, unaware of the reasons that led to today’s situation, but it was clear that he could not stay here any longer.
At first, two monsters arrived, and then an ugly, large spider jumped out behind them.
That alone would have been enough, but just now, a strange crow and a nine-headed monster that attacked with ghost fire appeared as well.
Now, there was even a monster lurking in the shadows, launching a surprise attack on him.
At this rate, more monsters would keep arriving, and sooner or later, he would be overwhelmed by their numbers, and by then it would be too late for him to escape.
With this thought, the Flame Giant roared in anger and swung his war sword repeatedly, driving back the Phoenix and the White Dragon, then braced against several attacks. Struggling against tenfold gravity, he stomped on the ground causing a rumbling sound, and in a moment, he had run without a trace.
Qin Feng had no intention of pursuing the Flame Giant. He bore no grudge against the giant, and the Flame Giant was not his target anyway.
His target had always been the Phoenix!
Oblivious to this, the Phoenix was still somewhat dazed, just like the Flame Giant.
Regardless, driving the Flame Giant away was a good thing for it.
It planned to relocate its nest later and move away from this place to avoid the Giant returning.
However, before leaving, it had to properly thank the monsters that had come to help.
Although it did not recognize these creatures and even found them quite strange, they had helped it, hadn’t they?
Besides, it found this mutual assistance quite agreeable and thought about forming an alliance with these monsters. Perhaps it could later recruit more monsters to join them, forming a group to collectively resist the Giant’s tyranny.
If they could grow strong enough, they might even dominate a portion of the Fire Kingdom, claim a vast territory, and become a great force alongside but distinct from the Flame Giant.
Thinking this, the Phoenix chirped a few times, ready to express its gratitude.
As for its previous plan to escape alone, even considering attacking the White Dragon to distract the Flame Giant, it selectively forgot.
However, these monsters seemed a little too enthusiastic. Seeing that it wanted to thank them, they all gathered around, seemingly preparing to listen up close.
Could it be that they liked to hear these words of praise?
