Reborn with a Space: Hoarding Food and Raising My Kid

Chapter 616 - 466: Dilemma (3)

Chapter 616: Chapter 466: Dilemma (3)

"Mama, waah... I... Mama!" Polly cried, clutched tightly in Selina’s arms, which were wrapped unyieldingly around her small, chubby body.

Jade followed behind, her face streaked with tears. "Give Polly back to us! Please! We’ve always treated you well. Why are you doing this?!"

"Selina, why are you doing this?! Is this woman controlling you?"

"Selina, let’s talk this out. Put the child down!"

Neal Wallace, Ethan Monroe, Sherman Lynch, Cynthia Grant, and Caleb Bloom all trailed behind them, keeping a close watch, terrified that one wrong move would get Polly hurt.

The woman in black glanced impatiently at the child, who was sobbing uncontrollably. "What’s all the crying about! If this little bastard wasn’t still useful, I’d crush her to death right now!"

"No! Don’t!" Selina cried, her eyes filled with pain as she looked at Polly. She trembled all over but refused to loosen her grip, following the woman in black.

"Jade, Caleb, Sherman, Cynthia..." Selina sobbed. "I’m so sorry! They’ve taken Lyle! If I don’t hand Polly over to them, they’ll kill him!"

Jade and the others froze. "They took Lyle? Why didn’t you tell us sooner? We could have figured something out together! Why did you have to drag a child into this?

You watched Polly grow up!"

Selina’s sobs grew more intense. "I’m... I’m sorry!"

With that, she broke into a run, following the woman in black toward Rona Rook. Selina had been the last person from Villa Three to awaken a superpower, and hers was speed. Neal Wallace and the others couldn’t catch her, no matter how hard they tried. They could only watch as she carried Polly farther and farther away.

Lex Cross watched Polly in Selina’s arms, and his stoic expression finally cracked. He moved to intercept Selina and retrieve Polly, but Rona Rook seized the opportunity to break free of her restraints. In a flash, she grabbed both Selina and Polly, dragging them under a distant tree.

"Well now, what a soft, pink little doll," Rona Rook cooed. "So small, so tender. If I applied just a little pressure... I could crush her with a single pinch, couldn’t I?" Her long fingernail scraped across Polly’s face, breaking the skin on the baby’s fair cheek.

"Stop!"

"Young Master Cross, I have no desire to make an enemy of the Cross family. Flora Bloom is dead anyway. How about this? We split the Divine-level Space Fragment with the Pryce family. What do you say?"

Lex Cross narrowed his eyes, saying nothing. Polly had cried herself hoarse.

Polly was born of the Thunder Element. He had personally trained her in how to kill zombies and fight enemies. The Cross family bloodline was blessed with innate combat awareness and intellect. But Selina was a familiar face; Polly knew not to attack her.

But now, in the clutches of a stranger like Rona Rook, Polly’s Thunder Ability suddenly surged, blasting from her tiny body straight at Rona’s face.

"Hmph. Using a superpower to attack her enemy at such a young age. As expected of a Cross. But in the end..." Rona’s voice was a mocking purr. "Her fate lies in your hands, her dear father."

Lex Cross’s fists tightened. His brow furrowed, his eyes fixed on Polly in Rona Rook’s grasp, not blinking for an instant.

"Whether this little whelp lives or dies is up to you, Young Master Cross. Flora Bloom was just a planetary native. With her dead, you’ll still get a share of the Divine-level Space Fragment.

Just promise not to come after the Rook family, and the little whelp will be perfectly fine!"

Lex Cross remained silent, but Selina turned to Rona Rook, her eyes filled with desperate hope. "My child! Where is my child? She told me if I brought out Flora Bloom’s baby, you’d give me back my son!"

Rona Rook’s eyes narrowed. The look she gave Selina was one of pure, cold indifference. "Heh. Your child... I’ll take you to see him right now."

A single, green drop landed on Selina’s forehead, instantly extinguishing her life and transferring her Life Force to Rona Rook.

A faint smile touched Rona Rook’s lips. "It’s not much, but it’s enough to restore my fighting strength."

Lex Cross’s face darkened. He was torn, worried for Flora Bloom’s safety but faced with the immediate crisis of Polly’s capture. "Give me the child," he said, "and I promise not to go after the Rook family."

Rona Rook flashed a brilliant smile. "Oh, no, no, no. I need you to swear an oath. At the War God Level, if you break a sworn vow, you’ll be punished by the laws of the world. That’s the only way I’ll feel secure... Don’t you agree, Young Master Cross?"

At that exact moment, however, the connection to the Eternal Life Contract deep within Lex Cross’s soul was violently wrenched.

A trickle of blood rose in his throat, and he forced it back down.

’The Eternal Life Contract... as long as I am alive, Flora can’t die! I have to stall Rona Rook, rescue Polly, and find the location of the sealed space where Flora is trapped.’

’It’s the only way. My last chance to save Flora before I have to leave.’

「Meanwhile, inside a sealed pocket of space」

Flora Bloom was relying on her spiritual water to withstand the crushing spatial power within, all while fending off sneak attacks from two War God Level masters.

She was at her limit. Her spiritual power was depleted, and the rate at which Spiritual Energy regenerated within her space could no longer keep up with her expenditure. With her space locked down, she couldn’t recover quickly.

So, as she dodged, she began pulling out chunks of Energy Gemstone ore from her spatial dimension’s mineral veins.

The two War God masters continued their assault, but they began to relax. The woman was nearly spent. Her death was only a matter of time.

’But what the hell is she doing,’ they wondered, ’hauling out Energy Gemstone ore all of a sudden?’
