Chapter 547: Chapter 443: Where Did So Many Evolved Creatures Come From
"So you’re Chief Sepherdine. I am Graham Cross. Our young master brought us here."
Sepherdine’s brow furrowed the moment he heard the name.
"Graham Cross? What is Lex Cross to you?"
"Lex Cross is our young master, of course! Are you one of the subordinates he recruited on Earth?" Dana Cross was direct and never minced words, saying whatever came to mind.
Sepherdine’s brow furrowed again and again, but he finally gave a faint smile and shook his head. "Sorry, my boss is someone else. If you are Captain Cross’s people, then please wait here. When my boss and he return, they will naturally arrange a place for you."
Sepherdine had no idea that the man he was speaking to was a person whose status in the Cross family of the Ancient Universe was second only to the Family Head and Lex Cross himself.
In the eyes of the Cross family members, his actions were tantamount to courting death.
The Cross family members themselves were still composed, but the subordinates and disciples they had brought with them could no longer hold back.
"Hey, what’s that supposed to mean?! Even General Cross has to respectfully call him Uncle Graham, but you, a mere Earth native, dare to be so rude to him!"
The one who spoke was a disciple from Graham Cross’s branch of the family, a Level One Nebula Level Fire Ability User. His talent was considerable, but his temper, like his superpower, was explosive.
A massive, spiderweb-like net of fire, with interconnected threads of flame filling each segment, rushed toward Sepherdine.
With a responding gust of wind, Sepherdine managed to disperse the fire net, but only with great difficulty.
But the flames were not extinguished. The scattered threads of fire shot out in all directions, heading for the plants and Little White.
Little White unleashed a bolt of lightning, instantly snuffing out the largest Fireball. However, the sparks that landed on the nearby tall grass and foxtail patches flared up at once.
Sepherdine glared at the Fire Ability User, his eyes suddenly darkening. "I don’t think causing trouble here is a good idea. When Captain Cross brought you here, did he not tell you who owns this villa complex?"
This time, Graham Cross did not stop his subordinate’s actions. He, too, wanted to see the strength of this base’s leader.
’A peak High-level Wind Element user can actually block the superpower of a Nebula Level Fire Ability User.’
’That’s not the kind of power a user from a native planet should possess.’
The tall grass and foxtail patches were burning with superpower-fueled flames. Without the Fire Ability User retracting them, they were impossible to extinguish.
But this grass had been nourished by Flora Bloom’s spiritual water. It had acknowledged a master and was connected to the entire underground root network of Morhaven.
When one patch of vegetation was in peril, the rest of the network would supply it with stored water from all over the underground.
Sepherdine had long known that the plants here were not so simple. Now, watching the ordinary-looking tall grass and the sturdy, thick-stemmed foxtails burn for so long under the superpower-fueled fire without any effect was still a novel sight.
But some things still had to be said. "You," he said, "I advise you to retract your flames immediately. The owner of these plants hates it when people damage her things. Also, if these little guys get hurt or killed, she will get angry."
Graham Cross frowned in confusion, while Sepherdine turned and led his people straight toward Villa Three.
However, the Fire Ability User, feeling utterly scorned, saw that his attack against a mere Earth native had not only failed but hadn’t even managed to burn the surrounding plants.
Seething with uncontrollable rage, his body began to exude an orange flame.
"Stop! You’d better explain yourself!" he shouted, charging forward while wreathed in fire. The ground, the lawn, and the tree trunks he touched along the way all began to spark and smoke.
Even the air temperature shot up dramatically.
Sepherdine sensed someone charging at him from behind. He hadn’t expected the Fire Ability User from before to turn into a human torch and rush him.
He unleashed his strongest offensive superpower, using the attack as a defense to cover his retreat. But things weren’t as simple as he’d hoped.
The disciples of the Cross family, even those not of the direct bloodline, were all individuals of immense potential to have been accepted. Moreover, most of those brought on this trip were highly regarded by the family, brought to Earth specifically to gain experience.
And so, after trading a single punch with the user enveloped in his Fire Element superpower, Sepherdine was sent flying straight through the main door of Villa Three in front of everyone.
That wasn’t all. A horrific CRACK of breaking bones echoed from Sepherdine’s hand after the impact. The flames spread from the man’s fist to Sepherdine’s entire body, and no amount of rolling on the ground could extinguish them.
"Tch, and I thought you were someone impressive. Turns out you’re nothing special!" Just as he was about to continue his assault, Vert unleashed a blade of wind from the sky that seemed to tear through space itself, pinning the Fire Ability User in place.
At the same time, the people inside Villa Three heard Sepherdine’s cries for help and finally decided to come out and see what was happening.
The stench of scorched tree trunks and the sickening smell of burnt hair and human flesh filled everyone’s nostrils.
"Sid, stop. Don’t take it too far. You’ve taught him a lesson, and that’s enough!" Graham Cross said sternly.
