Chapter 523 - 435: The Nightmare Beast’s Skills

Chapter 523: Chapter 435: The Nightmare Beast’s Skills

"Human evolution, or what you call ’superpower awakening,’ is the most common form of cultivation in the universe. It’s the beginning of your species’ evolution.

"As for those humans who fail to awaken a superpower, they will ultimately face death. But of course, to use one of your human sayings, when God closes a door, he opens a window.

"They are resurrected as zombies after death. The evolution of the zombie race is equivalent to human evolution—a step-by-step process of leveling up. Once they transcend the High-level zombie rank, they become an undead being like me.

"Of course, that path is much more difficult than your human cultivation. The method of evolution for my undead race is to slaughter our own kind. It’s kill or be killed.

"I’m only helping you because I don’t want my brethren showing up to claim a piece of the pie. This way, it’s a win-win for both of us, wouldn’t you agree?"

Flora Bloom and Lex Cross exchanged a look. Seeing Lex Cross nod, Flora Bloom thought for a moment before pressing, "Let me ask you, how was Shelton Underwood resurrected? And why was he different from other zombies after he came back?"

"He was resurrected by absorbing my essential power. Strictly speaking, he was my... servant. It’s a shame you two had to go and kill him."

He didn’t mention Belle Bloom. Humans are selfish, but the strong of the undead race have climbed out of mountains of corpses and seas of blood. He might say one thing, but who knows what his true intentions are?

Flora Bloom glared at the white-robed man, who was lost in his own explanation. "Heh. Earth is, and always was, a human planet. I don’t care about ’evolution of life on Earth’ or the ’proliferation of other species.’ The very existence of zombies is a massive threat to humanity!

"Not killing zombies is out of the question! Especially since several of these Middle Level zombies are already on the verge of evolving. If we don’t kill them now, they’ll become a catastrophic threat to humanity in the future!

"If we’re unlucky enough to get a few more like you, how is humanity supposed to survive?"

The white-robed man appeared thoughtful, then put on a sorrowful expression. "Alas, there’s nothing for it. If you have a way to control them without their numbers changing in the slightest, I won’t stand in your way."

A corner of Flora Bloom’s mouth curled up. "You said it, not me. If I pull it off, not only will you not stop me, you’ll have to help us take care of the High-level zombies in the other eight settlements. How about it?"

"Tsk, tsk. Captain Cross, you two are quite the crafty pair, each trying to out-scheme the other!" He then looked at Flora Bloom. "Fine!"

The white-robed man’s eyes were placid. He seemed ready to agree to whatever Flora Bloom said, a complete reversal from the dangerous, aggressive man she’d first met.

Flora Bloom didn’t believe this was because he claimed to like her; she wasn’t that naive. Just then, her expression changed, but it quickly returned to normal.

It was because inside her dimensional space, the black ant connected to the white-robed man’s Divine Soul had suddenly started speaking in the man’s exact voice.

She glanced back at the white-robed man, who stood before her and Lex Cross, wearing an innocent expression as if he hadn’t done a thing.

Using the black ant, the white-robed man spoke inside Flora Bloom’s dimensional space. "As long as you take good care of this little ant of mine—don’t let it get hurt or try to forcefully refine and discard it—I can even guarantee that for the duration of my stay on Earth, the zombie hordes will not attack humanity. How about it?"

Flora Bloom frowned.

"Of course, you can’t tell anyone about this black ant’s existence—not even Lex Cross. Otherwise, our deal is off."

Flora Bloom’s expression remained unchanged, and her gaze toward the white-robed man was perfectly placid. To him, this clearly signified her agreement.

The next problem was how to deal with the group of Middle Level zombies.

Flora Bloom’s method was simple. The zombies, regardless of rank, would obey the white-robed man’s commands. So, he summoned the three highest-ranking zombies from the Middle Level group and brought them before Flora Bloom.

In front of everyone, Flora Bloom pulled the three Middle Level zombies into her dimensional space. The space forcefully branded them, making them recognize her as their master, and then tossed them back out.

When they reappeared, the three Middle Level zombies, who had been on the cusp of becoming High-level, were now beings who obeyed Flora Bloom’s every command.

"I just need to have them advance to High-level and take over the zombie horde in this settlement. Problem solved, right?"

The white-robed man nodded in appreciation. "Clever, but you’ll have to make sure the thousand or so remaining Middle Level zombies don’t evolve. Otherwise, this was all just busywork."
