Chapter 502 - 427: A Nightmare, Not a Colt
Chapter 502: Chapter 427: A Nightmare, Not a Colt
She stared blankly at the small foal in her hands. ’You little thing, you really are the descendant of a divine steed. Looks like I can’t bring you into my space!’
The little black foal seemed to know Flora Bloom had no ill intent. After seeing the white foal being born, it stopped making its pitiful "whimpering" sounds.
’But a contract... how am I supposed to form one?’
Previously, whether with the Golden Crow or the War Wolf Clan cub, Flora Bloom had been the passive one in their contracts. As for how to actually initiate one, she was completely in the dark.
"Little guy, you know about forming contracts, right?" Flora Bloom held up the little black foal and tried to communicate with it, hoping the foal would take the initiative to contract with her.
But just then, a light that flickered between black and white suddenly appeared around Polly and the white foal beside her. A familiar energy pulsed from Polly and the pure-white foal.
After its initial flash, the black-and-white energy split into two concentrated drops of liquid, each containing both energies. One drop entered the pure-white foal’s head, and the other entered Polly Cross’s forehead.
Flora Bloom froze, at a complete loss.
’Was Polly just contracted?’ Flora Bloom, who knew a little about contracts, grew anxious.
She quickly picked up Polly, took out an undamaged baby carrier, and strapped her securely to her chest.
At this point, Flora Bloom couldn’t care less about the foal whose life rank was comparable to her own dimension. She rushed outside the cave.
Outside, Shadow seemed to have reached an understanding with Lex Cross. They were coordinating their attacks against the zombie horse, and the battle was nearing its end.
The zombie horse in the air was struck in the head by a bolt of lightning that combined Lex Cross’s Thunder Element with black energy. Overpowered, it plummeted from the sky and crashed not far from Flora.
Right on cue, the Golden Crow spat out a stream of True Sun Fire. Once the True Sun Fire latched onto the zombie horse, the flames burned relentlessly, impossible to extinguish no matter how much the creature struggled.
Ultimately, it perished in resentment, its body turning to ash and leaving behind only a fist-sized, glittering Crystal Core.
The Golden Crow picked up the Crystal Core, gave it to Flora Bloom to put away, and then settled obediently at her side.
Lex Cross descended from the sky, riding Shadow. He swung a long leg over and leaped from its back. Shadow, now acting like a tamed divine steed, stood quietly beside Lex, its gaze fixed eagerly on the two foals—one black, one white—that had followed Flora Bloom out from the cave.
NEIGH!
Shadow whinnied excitedly toward the sky, and the two foals galloped over, affectionately nuzzling and circling it.
"Flora, why did you come out?" Lex Cross asked worriedly. As he got closer, his expression faltered, and his gaze suddenly shifted to Polly, who was strapped to Flora’s chest.
"Hahaha! That’s my daughter, all right! To have such an incredible encounter."
Flora Bloom was confused. "Incredible encounter? I was just about to ask you! A moment ago, our daughter seemed to form a contract with this white foal. Quick, take a look! What kind of contract is it? Will it be harmful to Polly?"
Lex Cross ruffled Flora Bloom’s hair. "Don’t worry, it’s fine! The Cross family bloodline is naturally protected by a battle soul. It’s impossible for our children to be bound by a harmful contract! They signed a master-servant contract, with Polly as the master."
Flora Bloom let out a sigh of relief. "That’s a relief! You have no idea... I’m the one who delivered this little white foal by C-section. If anything had happened to Polly..."
The smile on Lex Cross’s face deepened. "A foal?" He crouched down and picked up the pure-white foal, provoking an unhappy protest from the little creature.
"You call this a foal?"
"It’s not a horse?"
"Look at the top of its head and its four hooves."
Flora Bloom used one hand to block Polly, who was desperately trying to lunge for the little white foal in Lex’s hands, while she stroked its head with her other.
Beneath the short, fine fur on its white head, right in the very center, was a tiny, black, pointed horn.
"A single horn?"
Lex Cross smiled and nodded, gesturing for her to keep inspecting it.
So Flora Bloom checked its four hooves. Her brow furrowed.
"What’s this? Why does it have a soft piece of flesh behind its hooves?"
Lex Cross’s eyes were filled with mirth. "A single horn on its head, cloud-like flesh on its hooves that allows it to fly, and the power to manifest fear. This... is a Nightmare Beast.
"Every family in the universe wants a Nightmare Beast. It can conquer new territories for a family, ensuring victory after victory in battle. It’s a variant that evolved from an Earth-based lifeform. They’re extinct everywhere else in the universe. This is no foal."
Flora Bloom was stunned. "Then... will it be dangerous for Polly?"
