Chapter 500 - 427: A Nightmare Is Not a Foal
Chapter 500: Chapter 427: A Nightmare Is Not a Foal
Flora Bloom generously summoned a torrent of Space Spirit Water into the cave, letting it pour down like heavy rain.
The dried and sticky blood on the ground was washed away by the spiritual water, flowing off to one side.
The deluge of spiritual water washed over everything, cleaning both the carcasses and the injured horses until they were spotless.
After being bathed in Flora Bloom’s spiritual water, the wounds on the heavily injured horses began to heal miraculously. However, while the spiritual water cleaned some of the festering wounds, they still failed to close.
Flora Bloom knew those wounds were infected by a virus. Her spiritual water could only heal ordinary injuries; she needed to use her Water Ability to cleanse these particular wounds.
Now that her Water Element had reached a High-level, its virus-cleansing power was much stronger. Flora Bloom concentrated her Water Ability in her palms and went around to each horse, thoroughly flushing out their festering wounds.
After Flora Bloom’s thorough treatment, the herd of horses that had been lying lifelessly among the corpses, on the brink of death, suddenly got to their feet. They were brimming with vitality once more—a stark contrast to the deathly stillness from moments before.
Finally, Flora Bloom approached a small foal that was still whimpering incessantly.
The foal was pitch-black, the only other horse of its kind besides Shadow. It was clearly Shadow’s offspring.
It appeared to be completely free of injuries, yet it couldn’t even stand.
Flora Bloom walked over and stroked its body. Its coat was pitch-black but coarse and dry, with no sheen whatsoever. It looked severely malnourished.
And at the size of a house cat, how could it possibly be the offspring of a magnificent steed like Shadow? It was smaller than even the foals of ordinary horses.
When the foal saw Flora Bloom approach, it continued to whimper, desperately trying to burrow under the body of a brown mare’s carcass beside it.
Flora Bloom leaned in for a closer look and saw it was a brown-coated mare with four snow-white hooves.
The young foal was still weak despite the spiritual water bath, so Flora Bloom offered some to its mouth, hoping it would help it recover.
As expected, spiritual water was something no living creature could refuse. After one sip, the young foal eagerly drank several more mouthfuls.
Although the pair of wings on its back remained limp, its body felt much stronger than before.
It began to desperately nudge its mother’s belly with its head, its whimpers growing louder than before.
"WHIMPER..."
But the mare’s body was too large for a small foal to budge. Flora Bloom decided to help.
The mare was dead, devoid of all life and breath. With a great heave, Flora Bloom rolled the mare’s body over. At that moment, the foal planted its front hooves on its mother’s abdomen, turned its head to look at her, and its whimpers took on a different tone.
Polly, cradled against Flora Bloom’s chest, suddenly began to wave her arms and legs, trying to reach for the dead mare. Flora Bloom naturally held her back, but Polly, who was always so quiet and well-behaved, suddenly burst into tears.
Polly had been just as quiet in her past life, never crying or making a fuss. Flora Bloom would never forget the sound of her cries in the moments before her death.
Polly’s anguished cries now were even louder than they had been back then. Flora Bloom couldn’t help but find it strange.
It was understandable for the foal to feel an attachment to its mother’s body, but the little one on her chest... Polly had inherited her father’s calm disposition and never, ever fussed.
’What’s gotten into her? She’s ignoring the cute little foal completely. Does she prefer the dead mare?’
Flora Bloom curiously approached the mare’s body for another inspection. She was remembering the time she had to perform a C-section on a dead monkey to save a baby Monkey One. ’Could there be another foal inside?’
’This cat-sized foal does look like a newborn. Is it possible they were attacked during the birth? Maybe she died before she could finish, a case of two lives lost for one body?’
So Flora Bloom reached out and pressed on the mare’s abdomen. Sure enough, she felt a hard, cat-sized lump inside. It was completely still. She swept her powerful spiritual power over it but couldn’t sense any trace of life within.
’Look, even if there is one, it’s already dead. Let’s just not...’
"WAAAH...!" Polly suddenly began to wail, her voice louder than ever before. Thunder Element energy surged around her body, showing signs of becoming uncontrollable.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, my little ancestor! Don’t just let your superpower go wild!"
The little foal continued to nuzzle its mother’s abdomen, its eyes filled with a pitiful light as it whimpered. Polly, meanwhile, was sobbing uncontrollably, showing no signs of stopping.
