Flora Bloom glanced at Nina Rook’s smug expression.

Just then, good news reached Lex Cross from the Morhaven base via satellite communicator.
The transmitting and receiving equipment for the communication base station was complete. They had already finished installing the device at the Morhaven base, and it was capable of penetrating the unique magnetic field interference of the Morhaven Forest.
So, after Lex Cross’s party cleared out some of the zombie hordes in the city, they rushed back to the airport terminal to tell Flora Bloom the news.
They decided to send a group back to the base to retrieve personnel, then install another base station in Orinburg to test if true long-distance communication could be established.
Caleb Bloom led one hundred superpower users back to Morhaven, picked up five of the station’s design engineers, and then sourced materials locally in Orinburg.
Drawing on their previous experience, they quickly assembled the new device and successfully completed a communications test between Orinburg and Morhaven.
Having the communications stations meant that the two locations could now communicate freely. However, due to material constraints, the coverage area of both stations was small. Only within designated zones could they use the communicators—assembled by the engineers—to contact the other base station’s area.
It was a small step, but for the post-apocalyptic world, it was a giant leap forward.
As long as they had enough materials, they believed the entire Veridia region could soon have its basic communication functions restored.
The only remaining problem was establishing a transportation route.
They still lacked a Crystal Core from a powerful flying creature to power the dispersal device.
But that problem would soon be solved.
Because the Golden Crow was awake.
The Golden Crow told Flora Bloom it could use its kingly aura to attract every bird within a hundred-li radius.
At first, Flora Bloom assumed the Golden Crow would only attract ordinary birds or perhaps some evolved creatures.
But to her surprise, the flock included four zombified avian beasts, their eyes glowing red and their bodies reeking of Death Energy.
With a single blast of fire, the Golden Crow incinerated the four zombified avian beasts, leaving behind only four crystal-clear Crystal Cores.
These four zombie birds were at the peak of the Middle Level. Had a group of superpower users encountered them, they would likely have been completely wiped out, no matter how many of them there were.
The Golden Crow had changed immensely with this evolution. Once as small as a crow, it had now shed most of its black feathers. Except for a layer of black on its neck and back, its entire body was now covered in golden plumes.
From a distance, it looked like a divine golden bird.
After its deep sleep, it had grown enormous—at least fifteen times bigger than Flora Bloom. Its wingspan stretched a full thirty meters, and its feet, like massive eagle talons, gleamed with a metallic golden sheen.
Flora Bloom was very pleased with the Golden Crow’s transformation.
After handing the four Middle-Level zombie bird Crystal Cores to Professor Micah, Flora Bloom climbed onto the Golden Crow’s back.
"Take off!"
With a single flap of its wings, the Golden Crow kicked up a hurricane in the Morhaven Forest. Carrying Flora Bloom, it soared higher and higher, quickly reaching an altitude comparable to a commercial airliner.
Flora Bloom could see the fast-moving air currents created by the friction of the Golden Crow’s wings against the atmosphere. Yet, sitting on its back, she didn’t feel a thing—not even a breeze.
