Reborn with a Space: Hoarding Food and Raising My Kid

Chapter 454 - 393: Fiancée?

Chapter 454: Chapter 393: Fiancée?

After two breaks, the group of five to six hundred had finally cleared all three terminals.

Mentally exhausted, the group returned to Terminal Three to find Flora Bloom resting in a chair with her eyes closed. Across from her, Rita was curled up in another chair, her face a mask of grievance, her eyes brimming with tears.

Only when she saw the group return did she blink and wipe the tears from the corners of her eyes.

Lex Cross walked over to Flora Bloom, but just as he was about to sit down, Rita suddenly shot up and threw herself into his arms.

Shawn Hale froze where he stood.

Caleb Bloom and Jade also stood frozen, unsure how to react.

Everyone stared, baffled by Rita’s sudden move. They all turned to look at Shawn Hale, whose face had turned ashen.

Flora Bloom saw the icy glare in Lex Cross’s eyes, yet he didn’t immediately push her away. Instead, he spoke.

"Nina?"

Hearing Lex Cross say her name, she was overcome with joy and clung to him, crying even harder.

"Lex! I knew you wouldn’t forget me! Lex, I’ve missed you so much!"

Before Flora Bloom could move, a woman named Luna suddenly appeared, grabbing Rita’s arm and yanking her out of Lex Cross’s embrace. She then shoved her toward Shawn Hale.

"What the hell is this? Trying to steal my boss’s man in front of everyone? Hey, Shawn Hale! Are you even a man? Get your girlfriend under control!"

Shawn Hale steadied the stumbling Rita. "Rita, what’s wrong? Why were you hugging Captain Cross?"

Rita shrugged off Shawn Hale’s hand and ran back to Lex Cross. Just as she was about to take his arm, he sidestepped her.

"Nina Rook, don’t cause trouble!"

Flora Bloom looked quizzically from Lex Cross to Rita, who was now wearing a docile expression despite his cold reception.

"Nina Rook?"

When Rita heard Flora Bloom say her name, the disdain returned to her face.

"You’re not worthy of saying my name."

"Shut up!"

A coldness entered Lex Cross’s eyes as he looked at the person wearing Rita’s face—inside was Nina Rook, his supposed fiancée.

Nina Rook seemed unfazed by Lex Cross’s rebuke. As if it were a familiar routine, she moved closer to him, once again reaching for his arm.

This time, Flora Bloom had seen enough.

"Who do you think you are? Seducing my man right in front of me? That’s not a good look, is it?"

Nina Rook gazed lovingly at Lex Cross, but her eyes were full of arrogance when she turned to Flora Bloom. "I am Lex’s fiancée, the acknowledged daughter-in-law of the Cross family. I am Nina Rook."

Flora Bloom froze, then shot a confused look at Lex Cross. The look clearly said, ’You never mentioned having a fiancée, did you?’

Lex Cross raised an eyebrow and gave a slight shake of his head. ’I don’t acknowledge her.’

"The Crown Prince, Tanuki, out here." Flora Bloom called out to the empty air. The figures of The Crown Prince and Tanuki materialized moments later.

"Ma’am."

"Keep a close eye on her. Don’t let her take a single step. Your boss and I have things to discuss."

The Crown Prince and Tanuki nodded. The next second, they materialized beside Nina Rook.

Having fused with Rita’s body, Nina Rook not only lacked her original power, but she also couldn’t use Rita’s superpower because she hadn’t been in the body for a full three months.

Faced with The Crown Prince and Tanuki, Lex’s two most trusted guards, she couldn’t understand why they would obey this native woman.

"The Crown Prince! Tanuki! How dare you!"

Five, standing near Cynthia Grant, shot her a glare. "Psycho. Of course they dare."

And so, energy radiated from The Crown Prince and Tanuki, binding Nina Rook in place. She could only watch helplessly as Lex Cross and Flora Bloom were enveloped in a shroud of black energy and vanished from sight.

Before the crowd could process the sudden cascade of events, Shawn Hale suddenly ran toward The Crown Prince and Tanuki.

"Rita, you’re my Rita! You’re not some Nina Rook! What on earth has happened to you?"

Nina Rook looked down on Shawn Hale as if he were a lesser being.

"Shawn Hale, your Rita is dead. I am Lex’s fiancée, Nina Rook."

"But you are my Rita!"

Shawn Hale stared at the girl in front of him. It was his Rita—the same eyes, nose, and mouth he knew so well—but her entire demeanor and presence had changed dramatically.

"Shawn Hale, the body I currently inhabit is, indeed, your Rita’s. But the soul and consciousness are no longer the same."

"Impossible!"

Bound by The Crown Prince and Tanuki, unable to move, Nina Rook mocked Shawn Hale.

"Even if I were Rita, you should know that your precious Rita’s heart had already strayed. At the Morhaven base, everyone from Sepherdine to Lex Cross was on her list of potential prospects.

But, obviously, she died before she could make her move. Now, her body is mine. So, snap out of it and stop wasting your time on me."

Shawn Hale stared at Rita, restrained by The Crown Prince and Tanuki, his eyes filled with disbelief. He slumped down, clutching his head and muttering to himself in despair.

Over five hundred superpower users and fifty regular people were present, and they all heard the gist of the conversation.

’Rita isn’t Rita?’

’Rita’s body is inhabited by Nina Rook’s soul and consciousness?’

’So, this Rita isn’t the original Rita, nor is she Shawn Hale’s girlfriend, but Captain Cross’s fiancée?’

The tangled relationships were enough to make everyone’s head spin. The only thing they understood for sure was that the world had gotten a whole lot weirder.

’Another person’s soul and consciousness can live inside someone’s body?’

It was a concept they couldn’t grasp, and one that sent a chill down their spines.

Meanwhile, Flora Bloom and Lex Cross were inside a sphere of black energy, isolating them from everyone else. No one could see or hear them.

"Alright, explain. How did I suddenly become the other woman?"

Lex Cross gently pulled Flora Bloom into a hug, his long fingers tapping lightly on her head.

"What are you talking about? You’re the one I intend to make my wife, loud and clear. How could you possibly be the other woman?"

SMACK. Flora Bloom planted her hands on Lex Cross’s chest and pushed him back a little.

"Loud and clear? Sounds more like we’re heading for a shotgun wedding. Who exactly is this Nina Rook? She claims to be the Cross family’s chosen daughter-in-law, your fiancée, and you still think you can just properly marry me?"

"Flora, don’t be like that. I’m being serious. The thing with Nina Rook was arranged by the family elders a long time ago; it was never what I wanted. Besides, you know how I feel, don’t you?"

Flora’s gaze flickered. "I thought I did. But now that this Nina Rook is in the picture, I’m not so sure anymore."

Lex Cross looked at Flora’s tense, pouting face and suddenly let out a chuckle. "Flora, what am I going to do?"

Flora frowned at his seemingly troubled expression. "What do you mean, ’what are you going to do?’ She’s *your* fiancée, and you’re asking *me*?"

"I mean, what am I going to do when I even love the way you look when you’re jealous, my Flora?"

Anyone would be swayed by such sweet words, especially coming from the usually ice-cold Captain Cross, who was now practically fawning over her. Flora couldn’t help but crack a smile.

"So, what’s the plan now? She killed all those people just to find a suitable body. We can’t just let her off the hook.

If we stick to the original plan, we wait until she has completely fused with Rita’s body and then kill her... But... she is, after all, yours."

"Kill her!"
