Chapter 2795: Leave The Island
Chapter 2795: Chapter 2795: Leave The Island
"Let’s leave." Yu Qi sighed. "We will compile the data we gathered and pass it to the authorities so they can secure this island."
"Mhm." Long Hui nodded.
Before finishing their interrogation, Yu Qi had already instructed Xiaohua and Xiaoliu to distribute rations and warm clothing to the surviving captives held in the upper barracks.
Since those people would have to wait for official rescue vessels to arrive, Yu Qi wanted to ensure they were fed, clothed, and safe in the interim.
Xiaohua and Xiaoliu later reported that the captives had been deeply suspicious at first. They assumed the two children were sent by their captors as a cruel trick to lower their guard.
Xiaohua had not bothered trying to convince them with words. She simply tore open one of the food packets and ate a portion right in front of them to prove it was safe.
Driven by overwhelming hunger, a young girl had slowly crept forward out of the crowd. Xiaohua offered her a warm smile and handed over a food packet.
The little girl took it hesitantly, nibbling a small bite. Her eyes instantly lit up.
"Delicious..." she muttered softly through her mouthful.
Seeing the young child eat without harm, the remaining captives finally let down their guard, realising that Xiaohua and Xiaoliu were genuinely there to save them.
Xiaoliu had calmly explained the remaining plan to the group: "Help will arrive in about two days. Until then, stay inside this sector where it’s safe. Do not wander around the island, stay together, and wait for the rescue ships."
The captives nodded continuously, tears welling in their eyes. Though still frightened and shaken by their ordeal, they finally held onto something they had been denied for months: hope. For the first time since their capture, they truly believed they would make it off the island alive.
Xiaohua and Xiaoliu returned to the Spatial Sere, after which Yu Qi summoned Rukh. Her massive divine beast arrived roughly ten minutes later, sweeping down through the darkness.
"Let’s head back." Yu Qi stated.
"Hmm." Long Hui nodded.
Both of them climbed onto Rukh’s back. Once they were securely settled, Rukh spread his massive wings and took off into the night sky, flying swiftly back toward the city. To avoid drawing any unwanted attention, they bypassed the previous hotel where they had lodged and checked into a different establishment for the night.
Every piece of damning evidence regarding the atrocities on the island had been systematically documented. Yu Qi intended to turn over the bulk of it to the authorities, excluding the specific audio-visual footage of their private interrogation of Hector Vaughn. She had no intention of revealing the existence of the cultivation world to the secular public.
Furthermore, she deliberately excised all mentions of the mysterious figure who had engineered those inhumane experiments. That individual clearly went to extreme lengths to guard his secrets, proven by the lethal soul-curse placed on anyone who dared speak his name. Exposing that aspect would only invite chaotic retaliation upon unsuspecting civilians.
Yu Qi transmitted the evidence files directly to the authorities as well as the three prominent allied families. Within the encrypted package, she added an urgent note demanding that law enforcement immediately deploy a rescue fleet to retrieve the captives stranded on Blackstone Island, warning that MicroTech might attempt a swift cleanup operation once they realised the base was silent.
As for the Lee Family, their total ruin was now absolute and irreversible. They had no one to blame but Angelica Lee. Had she not foolishly tried to target Yu Qi’s brother out of spite, Yu Qi would never have investigated or dismantled the family’s illicit enterprises. Angelica Lee’s arrogance had directly brought down her family’s empire.
"Everything has been sent." Yu Qi stated, closing her encrypted interface.
"Hmm... We should head home." Long Hui said softly.
"Yeah." Yu Qi agreed with a nod.
...
The following morning, Yu Qi and Long Hui made their way to the train station. Long Hui had already secured their transit tickets, and the couple sat side-by-side in the waiting area.
While they waited for their boarding call, Neko-chan pinged Yu Qi’s device, transmitting a real-time update regarding the island.
Before departing Blackstone Island the previous night, Yu Qi had installed a concealed surveillance camera linked directly to Neko-chan, instructing her digital assistant to keep constant watch over the perimeter. Yu Qi had already prepared a contingency plan. If the local military failed to respond within three days, she would personally mobilise her private networks to execute a covert rescue.
Fortunately, that contingency proved unnecessary.
Relief washed over Yu Qi as Neko-chan reported that coastal naval vessels had already anchored off the island. Armed tactical units had breached the subterranean sectors, discovered the hidden holding cells, and secured all remaining captives. The unconscious mercenaries and researchers scattered across the base were currently being processed and taken into federal custody.
The victims were finally safe.
Yu Qi let out a long, quiet sigh of relief.
"What is it?" Long Hui asked, noticing the tension draining from her shoulders.
"The authorities have landed on the island." Yu Qi reported.
Long Hui nodded in understanding. The rescue operation was underway, and the personnel responsible for those heinous human experiments were now bound for justice.
Shortly after, their train arrived. They boarded and found their assigned compartment. As the train pulled out of the station, Yu Qi leaned back against the headrest, the lingering mental and physical exhaustion of the past few days finally catching up to her.
Within minutes, she drifted into a deep sleep.
Seeing his beloved Qi Qi fast asleep, Long Hui gently adjusted her position, pulling her against his chest so her head rested comfortably against his shoulder.
