Chapter 2776: Chapter 2776: Leave Him To Rot In The Empty Warehouse

Long Hui nodded in agreement.

Outside the panoramic windows of their presidential suite, the sprawling city skyline remained tranquil and majestic beneath the peaceful night sky. Countless glittering lights illuminated the towering skyscrapers, while steady streams of vehicles moved smoothly along the avenues below, making the metropolis appear as though nothing out of the ordinary had transpired.

Yet neither the general public nor the vast majority of lower-ranking authorities truly realised that, by sunrise, the catastrophic collapse of the Lee Family, one of the untouchable Four Great Families, would erupt into a monumental scandal that would dominate every front-page newspaper, emergency television broadcast, and digital news platform across the entire country.

The next morning, nothing happened. At least, not on the surface.

It appeared that high command had deliberately chosen to suppress all media coverage temporarily while executing massive, coordinated operations behind the scenes. The state could not afford to let a single scrap of information leak before every fleeing suspect was locked in cuffs and every hidden warehouse linked to the Lee Family was thoroughly raided and sealed.

However, even though the general public remained completely in the dark, frantic rumors had already begun spreading like wildfire through high-society business circles and elite political networks. Dozens of influential CEOs, government officials, and rival oligarchs had quietly received confidential word that the core members of the Lee Family had been swept up in a massive, overnight state raid.

Some remained overly cautious, choosing to wait until an official government press conference before making any sudden moves. Others, however, reacted with ruthless speed.

Without a second’s hesitation, major corporate leaders ordered their companies to immediately suspend every active joint venture involving the Lee Family, cut off ongoing contract negotiations, freeze shared investment funds, and publicly distance themselves from any entity tied to the dynasty. Long-term commercial partners quietly withheld incoming payments. Major banking institutions launched emergency audits of the Lee Family’s corporate accounts. A wave of nervous investors secretly instructed their legal teams to draft immediate contract termination notices.

Not a single soul wanted to become collateral damage when the Lee Family finally hit rock bottom. None of them was willing to risk being dragged down into the abyss if the scandal worsened.

As for Richard Lee, was finally discovered inside Warehouse No. 16, located just two short blocks away from Warehouses No. 13 and No. 14. The sole reason he had managed to survive in isolation for so long was that the potent paralytic coursing through his veins had finally begun to wear off. The instant he realised he could control his limbs again, Richard Lee desperately tried to push himself up from the cold floor.

Unfortunately, when he tried to straighten his legs, his knees completely buckled beneath him. He collapsed hard onto both knees, gasping for breath. Having spent nearly an entire night frozen in an awkward, rigid position on the concrete, his muscles were horribly stiff, and an intense, agonising numbness pulsed throughout both legs.

Richard Lee gritted his teeth, his eyes bloodshot. He refused to surrender to his body. Using both hands to claw at the dusty floor, he slowly dragged his dead weight across the concrete until he reached the heavy warehouse door. He reached up, grabbed the heavy industrial handle, and pulled with all his remaining strength.

Nothing happened. The heavy metal door did not budge even a fraction of a millimetre. His expression instantly darkened into pure rage. Those two masked bastards had actually padlocked him inside from the outside before vanishing into the night.

"They really intended to leave me here to rot..." Richard Lee spat through tightly clenched teeth.

Forced to calm his frantic breathing, he began observing his immediate surroundings with a critical eye. The interior of the vast, hollow building looked strangely familiar. His gaze slowly tracked upward before finally settling on a massive, stencil-painted identification sign near the high steel rafters: Newark West Warehouse No. 16.

Richard Lee’s eyes widened in slight realisation. This warehouse... It belonged directly to the Lee Family’s private real estate portfolio. No wonder the architecture felt so distinct.

After resting against the metal frame for several more gruelling minutes, the pins-and-needles numbness in his legs gradually subsided into a dull ache. This time, he managed to haul himself up onto his feet. Without wasting another single second, he rushed frantically around the perimeter, inspecting every emergency push-bar door, loading bay gate, and side exit.

Unfortunately, every single exit had been chained and padlocked securely from the outside. Richard Lee clicked his tongue in pure frustration, veins bulging on his neck.

"You two wretched bastards..." Richard Lee growled into the empty room. "Just wait until I track down who you really are. I will make both of you wish you had never been born! I will make sure you experience absolute hell while you are still breathing! You bastard!!"

His furious, echoing roar bounced uselessly off the bare metal walls.

Realising brute strength alone would not breach the heavy locks, Richard Lee frantically searched the floor for an improvised tool. Before long, he spotted a long, heavy steel pipe lying discarded near several wooden pallets. Without hesitation, he hoisted the iron bar and began hammering it furiously against the heavy warehouse door.

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

Every violent blow echoed deafeningly throughout the deserted industrial district.

He immediately felt that he was lucky. He immediately made the loud sounds to catch the attention of the people outside. Every five minutes, Richard Lee would briefly stop to catch his breath and rub his burning arms before resuming the relentless metallic pounding. He had completely lost track of how many hours had passed in that dark, sweltering tomb.
