Chapter 2761: Deliberately Provoking Me
Chapter 2761: Chapter 2761: Deliberately Provoking Me
Someone had witnessed the kidnapping. They had followed Uncle Liam’s tactical vehicle. They had effortlessly located the highly secure safe house and had gone straight inside to confront the captors.
They had even managed to easily defeat more than twenty professional, heavily armed bodyguards. They rescued Tang Qin Hao, treated his paralysis, and vanished into the night without leaving behind a single useful clue. She did not believe in coincidences. Absolutely not.
"No ordinary civilians could have accomplished something like this." Angelica Lee murmured to herself.
She stood up from her leather chair and slowly walked toward the large, floor-to-ceiling glass window overlooking the bustling, sunlit city. Her sharp reflection stared directly back at her.
"There are only two logical possibilities here." Angelica Lee stated, her voice echoing in the quiet office.
The subordinate remained completely silent, waiting for her to outline her deduction.
"The first... they are highly trained, freelance professionals who accidentally witnessed the kidnapping in the parking garage and decided to intervene for their own amusement." Angelica Lee said, pausing for a brief second to let the thought breathe. "The second... they are people who have been actively watching our movements from the shadows for a very long time."
A dangerous, beautiful smile slowly appeared on Angelica Lee’s beautiful face.
"And I strongly lean toward the second possibility." Angelica Lee added, her eyes flashing with a predatory light.
The spacious office suddenly became much quieter, the air turning frigid. Through the phone, the subordinate felt an inexplicable, icy chill run straight down his spine.
"Young Miss, do you suspect another rival family of orchestrating this?" The subordinate asked cautiously.
"Probably... I don’t know yet." Angelica Lee stated. Then, she continued her analysis. "But whoever they are... they deliberately chose not to kill Uncle Liam and the guards."
The subordinate was slightly confused by her logic. "What exactly do you mean by that, Young Miss?"
"If their goal had been to eliminate witnesses and cover their tracks completely, Uncle Liam and those men would already be dead." Angelica Lee explained, crossing her arms over her chest. "Instead, they left everyone breathing. They wanted someone to survive to report back to me. They are deliberately provoking me."
Angelica Lee’s crimson lips slowly curved upward into an amused smile. She actually found this sudden development incredibly interesting. Very few people in this city, or even this country, dared to openly challenge the authority of the Lee Family, because they knew there was a massive, terrifying organisation backing them up. Yet, someone had just done exactly that. These mysterious rescuers had not only completely ruined her carefully planned operation, but they had also walked away without exposing a single thread of their identities.
"They are either incredibly bold and confident in their power." Angelica Lee’s smile widened, showing a hint of her ruthless nature. "Or they are incredibly, hopelessly foolish."
She turned around, her posture commanding.
"Continue the investigation. I want every single piece of information regarding those two individuals. I don’t care whether they are doctors, elite soldiers, high-tier mercenaries, or members of another rival organisation. Find them. No matter what underhanded method you have to use." Angelica Lee ordered coldly.
"Yes, Young Miss." The subordinate nodded firmly on his end.
The subordinate was about to hang up the call to execute the order when he suddenly stopped himself, remembering the primary target.
"Young Miss?" The subordinate called out hesitantly.
"What? Is there anything else you want to say?" Angelica Lee glanced back toward the phone.
"What about Dr Tang? How should we handle him now?" The subordinate asked.
Angelica Lee remained silent for several long seconds, her fingers tracing the fabric of her sleeve. Then, she smiled.
"He returned to the medical conference, didn’t he?" Angelica Lee asked.
"From what we investigated, yes, Young Miss. Even after surviving the kidnapping incident, he still decided to participate in the panel discussions today." The subordinate confirmed.
Angelica Lee walked back to her desk, gently tapping one finger against the dark wood.
"So that means he actually believes the danger has completely passed." Angelica Lee said, the smile on her face gradually becoming more sinister and calculated. "People tend to lower their guard after surviving a kidnapping."
The subordinate instantly understood the underlying meaning behind her words.
"Young Miss... do you want us to coordinate another move to capture him?" The subordinate asked, eager to redeem their reputation.
Angelica Lee shook her head.
"No... not yet. Not right now." Angelica Lee narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. "The police have already become heavily involved in the venue. Besides..."
She recalled the look in Tang Qin Hao’s calm, indifferent eyes from the surveillance reports. A sharp, intellectual man like him would only become infinitely more vigilant and guarded after what had happened yesterday. Trying to capture him again immediately would only increase the chances of another public failure. She had never liked taking unnecessary risks when a patient approach yielded better results.
"Let him relax and feel safe first. People always reveal their critical weaknesses when they believe they are finally out of harm’s way." Angelica Lee’s lips slowly curved upward once again, her eyes shining with anticipation.
"I understand completely, Young Miss..." The subordinate nodded.
The call ended there, the connection cutting out. The luxurious office returned to a complete, heavy silence. Once again, Angelica Lee stood quietly by the window, staring down at the sprawling landscape.
Far below her, countless vehicles moved through the busy city streets like synchronised streams of flowing water. Her fingers lightly traced the cold, smooth glass.
"Tang Qin Hao..." Angelica Lee’s voice was barely above a whisper, her breath fogging the window slightly. "You managed to escape me once. But I never, ever give up on something I want."
