Chapter 2759: Chapter 2759: Marlissa Lopez Admitted Killing The Boy

"Confused for a single moment? Marlissa, you just brutally murdered my son. You poisoned a child. That is not a momentary confusion," Catherine Lee said, her voice shaking with a mix of heartbreak and sudden clarity. "You planned this for a very long time. Otherwise, how could a civilian like you even find a black-market poison like that?"

Even though Catherine Lee was naturally a gentle woman compared to the rest of the household, she was by no means stupid. This woman had murdered her baby simply because she was bitter and jealous of her lifestyle.

The desperate, begging expression on Marlissa Lopez’s face instantly twisted into something ugly. Realising her plea had failed, she looked at Catherine Lee with unbridled hatred and suddenly began to laugh. It started as a soft, raspy giggle. Soon, the hysterical laughter became louder and louder, echoing off the ceiling.

Everyone in the room frowned deeply as they listened to the manic sound. The laughter was like a sharp weapon, openly mocking their entire family.

Marlissa Lopez suddenly cut her laughter short, her eyes turning completely red with rage.

"Yes! I did it! I poisoned the boy! So what?!" Marlissa Lopez stated arrogantly, her voice filled with venom. She fixed her gaze entirely on Catherine Lee, pointing a shaking, bruised finger directly at her chest. "You always, constantly showed off in front of me! You had a doting, wealthy husband! A perfect, untouchable family! A genius, talented daughter! And then, to top it all off, you even gave birth to a perfect son to inherit everything!"

Tears of pure rage rolled down Marlissa Lopez’s face, her voice turning completely hysterical as she bared her teeth.

"And what did I have to show for my life?! Absolutely nothing! My husband cheated on me with younger women! He abandoned me like trash! I couldn’t even have a child of my own!" Marlissa Lopez glared at Catherine Lee with bloodshot, psychotic eyes. "Every single time we met for lunch, all you did was brag about your son! Your precious, golden son! I had to sit there and swallow it!"

"You... you felt that way all along?" Catherine Lee looked at her lifelong friend in absolute disbelief.

"I hated your guts, Catherine!" Marlissa Lopez screamed, her face contorting. "I wanted you to suffer exactly like I did! I wanted you to experience the exact same, agonising pain of loss that I went through every single day!"

Then, her eyes suddenly darted over toward the silent Angelica Lee standing by the window. A sick, twisted smile crossed her face, and she laughed again.

"And your daughter there... She was the absolute perfect tool for the job. You were so deeply suspicious and terrified of your own flesh and blood, it was actually hilarious to watch. I knew the exact millisecond your precious son died, your first instinct would be to blame her. And you really did. You destroyed your own family for me." Marlissa Lopez looked at Catherine Lee with eyes entirely filled with madness.

Catherine Lee collapsed back onto the cushions of the sofa, her face a mask of utter horror, nausea, and deep, permanent regret. She slowly, fearfully turned her head toward her eldest daughter.

Angelica Lee still stood there in the shadows of the curtain, completely quiet. She looked blankly at the raving Marlissa Lopez. Then, she shifted her calm eyes to look at her trembling mother. Her expression remained perfectly calm. Too calm.

That absolute, unreadable calmness was somehow infinitely more painful to witness than any scream of anger or cry of betrayal could ever be.

For the very first time in her life, a broken Catherine Lee realised a devastating truth. The physical entity who had killed her son was indeed Marlissa Lopez. But the person who had completely and permanently destroyed her relationship with her daughter was none other than herself.

Years quietly passed after that tragic, life-altering incident. Yet, despite the relentless passage of time, her relationship with Angelica Lee never truly recovered. Her daughter remained cold, detached, and utterly distant toward her, refusing to let down the high walls around her heart. Even though Angelica Lee still politely responded whenever Catherine Lee spoke to her out of obligation, her replies were usually strictly limited to a single, brief sentence delivered in an indifferent, completely emotionless tone.

"Mother, you may leave now. I still have important things to do." Angelica Lee stated calmly, her voice cutting through the thick silence of the executive suite.

That single, transactional sentence instantly pulled Catherine Lee back to reality, shattering her painful trip down memory lane. She glanced up at Angelica, who had already smoothly returned to her mahogany desk. Angelica sat down gracefully, opened a thick corporate file, and immediately began reading through its contents as though absolutely nothing else in the room mattered.

"Ange... It has been so many years. Can we..." Catherine Lee wanted to continue speaking, her voice cracking with the desperate hope of reconciliation, but Angelica Lee mercilessly cut her off once again without a shred of hesitation.

"Mother, as I stated just a moment ago, I have pressing work to do. You may leave now." Angelica spoke definitively, without even lifting her eyes from the data sheets spread out in front of her.

Catherine Lee let out a quiet, defeated sigh. She knew she had absolutely no choice but to respect the boundary and exit the office.

"Mom understands. I will leave now." Catherine forced a bitter, heartbreaking smile onto her face before slowly turning around and walking toward the heavy wooden door.

Angelica did not even bother to offer a verbal response to the departure. To her, there was absolutely no point in wasting another second of her day on unnecessary, emotional conversations with her mother.
