Chapter 470: Roaming Beyond
At some point, Tang Mo had found herself shouldering more and more responsibility.
For the sake of this responsibility, Tang Mo endured immense pressure and suffered greater hardships.
But she never complained, nor did she feel wronged or that it was too much to bear, because this was her own choice.
She didn’t think of herself as some kind of saint; she had simply made a decision and, from the bottom of her heart, wanted to see it through.
Tang Mo had never expected anyone to understand her.
But now she was discovering that the grievances she herself had never even dwelled on were things that someone else cared about more than she did.
It turned out love in this world wasn’t an illusion. Everything you gave would always return to you in another form, giving you Strength when you were on the verge of withering away.
Tang Mo didn’t consider herself a sentimental person. There had never been anything she found unbearable; everything she did was in accordance with her true intentions at the moment.
But humans are strange creatures.
When no one pays you any mind, you don’t think much of it. But when someone truly understands you, speaks up for you, and stands firmly by your side, your heart aches with an almost unbearable warmth.
‘Good thing I don’t have a physical body right now, or this would be so embarrassing.’
Tang Mo mocked herself. It seemed she’d been crying more and more easily lately.
Just then, Tang Mo suddenly felt a faint connection to her body.
Though it was fleeting, Tang Mo felt it with absolute clarity. She immediately focused her attention, trying to grasp that connection again, but failed.
‘Hmm? Has that little bead that can’t bear to part with me come looking for me?’
Tang Mo knew her sea of consciousness was already shattered, and her own energy within it was a chaotic mess.
But there were still a few small beads in her sea of consciousness. They were both a part of her and independent entities.
Of course, there was also the fused Jade Pendant in her sea of consciousness, but its Strength was too minuscule. She figured that even if it were longing for her, it had the will but not the Strength. Any bit of energy it tried to send out would probably be annihilated before it even emerged.
Actually, if she still had some connection to her body, a shattered sea of consciousness wasn’t an entirely unsolvable problem for Tang Mo.
Although her own energy was too chaotic to be used, she could have activated one of the fused beads to repair her sea of consciousness.
Doing so would destroy a bead, making the Five Beads fusion impossible, but compared to using Qin Ling’s bead, Tang Mo felt it was better to use her own if she wanted to live.
If it meant using her own bead, Tang Mo felt she could still try to survive. But to use Qin Ling’s bead, forcing Qin Ling and everyone else to choose between her and the world… Tang Mo truly wanted no part of that.
She rejected it from the bottom of her heart. Rather than let that happen, she would prefer for it to end just like this.
Perhaps, deep down, Tang Mo was afraid of facing the outcome of that choice. She just wouldn’t admit it.
But now, she had no connection to her body whatsoever, so activating a bead from within was out of the question.
‘If you come looking for me, I’ll give it a try. If not, then it’s fate, and I’ll just let it be.’
Tang Mo was speaking to the beads inside her body, but of course, the beads had no ears and couldn’t hear.
Perhaps Tang Mo was just talking to herself.
Meanwhile, in the sea of consciousness that Tang Mo could no longer feel, a bead was faintly glowing with a pink light.
It wasn’t an Attribute Pearl, but a strange bead Tang Mo had discovered before.
That bead was also full of energy. The last time Tang Mo saw it, it had only been the size of an Attribute Pearl. But just tonight, the bead had suddenly grown a size larger.
It was because of this sudden growth and surge in energy that it had established that faint connection with Tang Mo.
Tang Mo had previously tried to figure out what this bead that had suddenly appeared in her body was, but she later discovered the truth.
Every time she was in a mission world, whenever she was deeply moved and began to feel real emotions while facing a farewell, the bead would grow.
The energy inside that bead was no weaker than that of any Attribute Pearl, and because it was from her own body, it didn’t need to be fused.
That bead contained her feelings and love.
But calling it a Love Pearl or something similar was too cheesy, so Tang Mo had named it the Emotional Pearl.
The energy inside it was very powerful, but Tang Mo had tried many times and was never able to use it.
It seemed to have neither offensive nor defensive capabilities, and aside from making her more sentimental, it served no purpose.
Over time, Tang Mo stopped studying it. Since it was harmless to her body, she just let it be.
What left Tang Mo even more speechless was that this Emotional Pearl was pink and emitted a pink glow.
This suggestive color made a no-nonsense woman like Tang Mo feel at a loss for words. She couldn’t even ignore it if she tried.
If she could, Tang Mo would have really liked to hide this bead within her sea of consciousness to make it less conspicuous, but unfortunately, she never had the chance to figure out how.
Her consciousness couldn’t return to her body, and it had nowhere else to be.
So, Tang Mo decided to go have some fun outside the protective zone.
Tang Mo hadn’t had a proper look at the world since the Ice Age began.
In the beginning, she was busy establishing the protective zone and saving people, then establishing order. When the mission worlds opened up, she was busy entering them to complete missions and obtain beads. After that came fusing the beads, and finally, she ended up in this state.
As for the real world she lived in, aside from the area inside the protective zone, Tang Mo knew next to nothing about what the outside was like.
‘Why not go on a little trip?’
Tang Mo cheerfully made her decision.
The range of her spiritual power was vast, enough for her to travel very, very far.
Before, she had neither the time nor the energy. Now that she was free, she might as well experience this ice-covered world for herself.
Tang Mo was in a great mood. Since her consciousness wouldn’t last much longer anyway, she might as well have some fun.
The world is vast, and it’s impossible to see it all. Not being able to take in every landscape was certainly a regret.
But there’s a joy to be found in every inch you advance.
That old saying suddenly came to Tang Mo’s mind.
And what was that book? *Three Days to See*.
Tang Mo felt she was a lot like the protagonist of that book right now, only with less tragedy and more carefree, happy leisure.
During the Ice Age, even with her spiritual power Protective Shield, Tang Mo’s movements would have been restricted. But ever since she became a being of pure consciousness, she no longer had that problem at all.
Tang Mo felt like a free little bird—oh, wait, more like a little bird with a fully automatic engine installed.
In that moment, it seemed as if all the burdens Tang Mo had been carrying were lifted, leaving only ease and joy.
