Chapter 268 - 258: The Action Begins
Chapter 268: Chapter 258: The Action Begins
Tang Mo stopped outside Hulan Base, telling Duoyang to go inside and bring Xianxian out. She and Lin Yu waited outside.
Everyone in the base thought Lin Yu was dead. If he went back in now, it would likely stir up unnecessary trouble and interfere with Tang Mo’s plans.
Lin Yu had already given up on finding the bead, so there was no reason for him to stay here any longer.
Meanwhile, Tang Mo had contacted Qin Ling and asked him to send a small helicopter to pick up the siblings.
The journey was long and fraught with danger. Since Lin Yu was traveling with a child, a helicopter would make things much easier. They could reach S Base by that evening.
Tang Mo had arranged for Lin Yu and Xianxian to go to S Base.
There, Lin Yu could undergo systematic training with Xiao Tao, while Xianxian could enjoy her childhood in peace, receiving a special post-apocalyptic education alongside the children of other powerful families.
If there was anywhere in Huaxia that could still offer a sliver of peace, it was S Base—although that peace was purely relative.
With Qin Ling and the Wen Family there, Tang Mo would have no trouble protecting a few people at S Base. Lin Yu and Xianxian would essentially be untouchable.
Lin Yu, of course, had no objections after learning of Tang Mo’s plan. He was incredibly grateful.
After all, with such powerful backing at S Base, anyone could imagine how comfortable their lives would be.
Duoyang soon led Xianxian out. Her little head was hanging low, as if all hope was lost.
But when she lifted her head and saw her brother, alive and well, her eyes lit up.
’My brother is still alive! I haven’t lost him! This is wonderful.’
The four of them waited for a long while some distance from Hulan Base before a helicopter slowly descended nearby.
Qin Ling was out on a mission and couldn’t make it. It was Xiao Shiqi piloting the helicopter, sent to help Tang Mo with the pickup.
"Remember to keep training hard when you get back. You belong to my camp now. If you haven’t made any progress by the next time I see you, you’ll be in for it, understand?"
Tang Mo said this as Lin Yu and Xianxian were about to board the helicopter. It wasn’t just a warning, but also a way to put Lin Yu’s mind at ease.
"Got it. See you next time."
Lin Yu’s expression was much more relaxed than before as he smiled at Tang Mo and Duoyang.
"Sister Tang Mo, what’s our plan now?"
After Lin Yu and his sister had left, Duoyang asked Tang Mo.
He’d mostly understood from their time in the forest that Tang Mo had made a deal with the Bear Clan to return the dozen or so cubs from the base.
But he still didn’t quite grasp the specifics of how they were going to do it.
"Sister Tang Mo, you’re not actually going to fight Qiangba, are you?"
Duoyang had lived in Hulan Base his whole life and was well aware of Qiangba’s power. The man had become leader on the back of his Strength alone.
"If Qiangba and I were to fight, who do you think would win?"
Tang Mo didn’t answer his question, retorting with one of her own.
"You would!"
Duoyang answered immediately, without a hint of hesitation.
Qiangba’s greatest asset was his extremely high Strength Attribute Value. When it came to pure Strength, Sister Tang Mo probably couldn’t compete with him.
But Duoyang also knew that the outcome of a fight didn’t depend solely on Strength.
Besides the incredible power she had already displayed, there was so much more to Sister Tang Mo that he didn’t know.
Based on intuition alone, Duoyang felt certain that Tang Mo would win.
"And what about me against all of Hulan Base?" Tang Mo asked.
"Well, in that case..."
Duoyang trailed off, but his meaning was clear. The base would win, of course.
After all, nearly everyone at Hulan Base was incredibly powerful, and they were all fiercely loyal to Qiangba.
’One person can’t fight a crowd. No matter how powerful Sister Tang Mo is, she can’t possibly fend off a siege.’
"From now on, just do as I say."
Having spent so much time with Duoyang, Tang Mo knew his personality well.
He was simple and kind-hearted, but also a bit single-minded—the perfect Executor.
Tang Mo had spent a fair amount of time at Hulan Base and had a decent grasp of its overall strength.
She didn’t believe for a second that she couldn’t take on the entire Hulan Base.
If she had any other attribute, it might truly be impossible. But hers was the Spirit Attribute.
Her Spirit Attribute superpower meant she could be both offense and defense; her capabilities were outstanding in both single-person and group combat.
If she wanted to, with just a few tools, she could annihilate everyone in Hulan Base.
But this time, her only goal was to free the dozen or so bear cubs. There was no need to waste the energy or brainpower.
Tang Mo always preferred the most cost-effective solution.
And right now, she clearly had a much simpler way to handle things.
Through a series of coincidences during her two trips into the forest, Tang Mo had practically pinpointed the bead’s location.
Lin Yu had been right. The bead was in the forest, and at one point, it had even been right under his nose.
Now that she had the pattern and had found the bead’s exact location, Hulan Base was of no more use to Tang Mo.
Delays could bring complications. Tang Mo decided to fulfill her agreement with the Bear Clan as quickly as possible, then retrieve the bead from the forest.
The plan was for tonight.
"Let’s go. We’ll head back to the base and feed the cubs first."
Although Duoyang had been feeding the cubs regularly, he could only give them things like bones, fruit, and water—just enough to meet their basic needs.
It was entirely thanks to Duoyang that the cubs were still alive.
But that was far from enough. Combined with the daily beatings and abuse, every single cub looked sickly and frail.
She couldn’t return them to the Bear Clan like this. If the bears saw their young had been tortured into such a state, their hatred for humanity would only deepen, even if all the cubs were returned alive. That would complicate Tang Mo’s future plans.
Tang Mo took out some of the best cuts of meat from the Advanced Mutant Beasts in her Space. She cut them into chunks and, along with Duoyang, fed them to the bear cubs to help them regain some energy and stamina.
Then, one by one, she used her spiritual energy to treat the cubs, helping their wounds slowly heal.
The little cubs had never eaten anything so delicious. Even in the forest, they mostly ate fruit. They gobbled the meat down ravenously, looking at Tang Mo as if she were their own mother.
’It’s true what they say: "Whoever feeds you is your mother."’
"Tonight, we..."
Seeing that the cubs had mostly recovered their spirits, Tang Mo leaned in and began whispering the rest of the plan in Duoyang’s ear.
