Chapter 2192 - Go Back
Chapter 2192: Go Back
It was the best time to raise the three children since they were only newborns, but at the same time, it was also the most difficult time.
As long as they were fed and cleaned, they would spend at least twenty hours in a day sleeping and wouldn’t wake up too often. Of course, they would still cry when they were hungry, when they urinated, or when they defecated. Because of their cries, Qiao Nan had no free time at all as she busied herself taking care of the three children.
The one thing Qiao Nan was thankful for was that the triplets had the same habit as they had in her dream. They went to sleep together and woke up together. Then, they waited for their turns for mealtimes. That saved Qiao Nan a lot of hassle. As for breast milk, Qiao Nan had the will but couldn’t seem to produce enough. No matter how hard the auntie tried to nourish her with all sorts of soup, Qiao Nan was still unable to produce sufficient breast milk. It was barely sufficient for the three children at the moment, but when their appetites increased in another one or two months’ time, Qiao Nan knew that she could simply ‘retire’ as a human milk bottle.
“They’re sleeping so well. Nan Nan, don’t you think that our three children have grown so much?” Miao Jing stared at the three children, almost shooting hearts at them. Miao Jing felt that their family’s children were the most attractive and adorable children in the world. She had never seen any children better looking than their own. “They have such pale skin and chubby cheeks.”
“Yes, they’ve grown quite a lot. They feel rather chubby.” Qiao Nan nodded while smiling. Her children were growing very quickly indeed. In the blink of an eye, her children’s faces, hands, and feet seemed to have become rounder. “Mom, since the children are sleeping, you should get some rest too. Do they bother you with their cries?”
Knowing that Miao Jing was not in good health and could not tolerate too much noise, Qiao Nan was especially worried that the cries of the children would disrupt Miao Jing’s sleep. It didn’t matter that much during the day, but the three children often got hungry at night and cried especially loudly.
“Of course not. How could that be a bother?” Miao Jing waved Qiao Nan away. She had been longing for these cries for so many years. She loved them so much! How could she ever think of them as a bother? “Where’s Zhai Sheng? Did he leave you to take care of all three children alone? Since when has he become so irresponsible? He’s a father now. I’ll make sure to tell the triplets about this when they grow up so that they’ll talk some sense into him.”
Only after Qiao Nan placed the children down to sleep did she have time to reply to Miao Jing. “Mom, don’t blame Brother Zhai. He was the one taking care of the children alone last night when they urinated and defecated. All I did was feed the children when they were hungry. I didn’t expect Brother Zhai to be so adept at such things.”
A hands-on father like Zhai Sheng had truly saved Qiao Nan a lot of hassle. In her dream, Zhai Sheng was still young and spent much of his time in the military. Apart from some help from her parents-in-law, Qiao Nan was the only one taking care of the children. Now, Zhai Sheng was spending more time at home and was even adapting well to being a father. Even Qiao Nan was stunned and she could not help but ask Zhai Sheng if he could master anything in the shortest possible time.
Hearing Qiao Nan praise Zhai Sheng, Miao Jing was elated. After all, she had raised this wonderful father and husband herself. “Don’t praise him. He’s a father. That’s how he should be. If he can’t even do that, he shouldn’t have gotten married or become a father. Nan Nan, remember to get him to do whatever you want him to do while he’s at home. You gave birth to three children for him. It’s his obligation to do whatever you want him to.”
“Yes, it’s my obligation.” Zhai Sheng, who had just returned, agreed with his mom. “Mom, Dad’s looking for you downstairs. Why don’t you go and see what he wants?”
Qiao Nan was still doing her confinement and was pretty much cooped up upstairs with the three children. As such, Zhai Yaohui could only get Miao Jing to carry the children down whenever he wanted to see them.
Miao Jing laughed. “Why else would he be looking for me? It must be about the three children. Let’s not bother about him. The triplets just finished eating and went to sleep. What if we wake them up by carrying them down?” She would never do such a thing to her grandchildren. “They’ll be turning a month old in another few days. Then, he’ll have plenty of chances to carry them.” In fact, as long as Old Zhai had the strength to do so, he could carry them for a few more years!
Old Zhai only had to fear not having the strength to carry the children. He would have no lack of opportunities to carry them.
Qiao Nan laughed. The three children had probably ‘come’ too late. That was why everyone in the family cherished them so much. After knowing that the triplets had been born, Jiajia had to resist the urge to leave her studies behind to rush to the capital. Thankfully, the holidays were coming and Zhai Hua had promised Jiajia to visit the capital once her exams ended and she collected her results.
If not for Zhai Hua’s promise, Jiajia would have kicked up a huge fuss at her own mother, Zhai Hua. Of course, although Jiajia was not physically present, she had received countless photos of the triplets. There were those of the triplets crying, those of them drinking milk, and even those of them sleeping. Strangely enough, the triplets were still slightly red and not especially good-looking, but Jiajia didn’t mind that at all. She even praised her younger siblings for being beautiful and attractive!
“Alright, let them sleep. I’ll head down.” Miao Jing took another few glances at the triplets in satisfaction. Ever since she had gotten grandchildren, her heart would ache if she went two to three hours without seeing them. No wonder Old Zhai had gotten spoiled too. He wanted to play with his grandchildren too.
Qiao Nan was doing her confinement, and as her father-in-law, it was inconvenient for Zhai Yaohui to visit the children. Qiao Dongliang’s situation was no better than Zhai Yaohui’s. Knowing that he wasn’t going to be able to visit Qiao Nan or the children, he decided not to visit the Zhai family and to deal with Qiao Zijin instead. “It’s been so long. You should have had enough fun. Go back to Ping Cheng. There’s nothing here for you anyway.”
Qiao Dongliang had no intention of supporting Qiao Zijin. Besides, he was being supported himself. Only after a few days did Qiao Dongliang realize what Qiao Zijin had been planning.
The more he knew about Qiao Zijin’s plans, the colder Qiao Dongliang treated Qiao Zijin. He realized that his elder daughter was living in ancient times.
