Chapter 1994 - 1992: One Last Meeting
Chapter 1994: Chapter 1992: One Last Meeting
The Old Spirit thought that even if it left, it wouldn’t go; instead, it would treat this place as home. However, it wasn’t certain whether Gu Qiaoqiao would agree, but now was clearly not a good time to ask.
Xiao Bai seemed to have sensed the Old Black Cat’s thoughts and meowed in displeasure.
The Old Black Cat was startled and quickly lowered its head.
Qin Yugang was very satisfied with the place; the atmosphere here was excellent, making him feel a profound comfort and warmth inside and out—something he hadn’t experienced in a long time. But it was already too late, so he urged, "Qiaoqiao, you should head back quickly, drive carefully on the road."
No other words were spoken.
It wasn’t that he didn’t care, but with Gu Qiaoqiao’s abilities, it seemed that no one, whether human or Spiritual Body in the Imperial Capital, could harm her. So he was quite reassured.
Moreover, he knew that the little white cat following Qiaoqiao wasn’t just an ordinary white cat; it appeared to be a Divine Beast with mysterious powers. If it hadn’t intentionally showed goodwill towards him, he too might tremble upon seeing it like Lin Qinghuan.
Such a Divine Beast inherently suppresses beings like them, so with such a Divine Beast by Qiaoqiao’s side, what was there to worry about?
Gu Qiaoqiao looked around; outside the Barrier, others couldn’t see what was happening here, and it was indeed very late.
Thus, after speaking a few more words with Grandpa Qin, she left with Xiao Bai.
The Qin Group was very close to the Qin Family’s Courtyard, and after ten minutes, she arrived home.
By this time, it was already midnight. Only the lights in the living room were on waiting for her return, while Grandma Qin, along with the children, had long gone to bed.
Gu Qiaoqiao recalled Old Grand Master Qin’s unusual behavior the previous night. Now that Grandpa Qin had been rescued, Old Grand Master Qin should be much better.
However, Gu Qiaoqiao was unsure whether to inform the two elders about this. After all, this news would be like a thunderbolt to them, yet these are their closest relatives, always cherished and never forgotten.
Now that there’s a chance, should they be allowed to see them?
But both Old Grand Master Qin and Grandma Qin are ordinary people.
For them to see the Spiritual Body or to be able to perform the talisman opening the Heavenly Eye is risky, as their age means their bodies might not withstand it.
So the only option would be for Grandpa Qin to reveal his form, but how to do that, Gu Qiaoqiao had little experience. It was too late; she’d call Uncle the next morning to ask.
Gu Qiaoqiao let Xiao Bai return to the room it shared with the White Wolf. Her two little treasures were already sound asleep. Gu Qiaoqiao looked in from the doorway before turning back to her own bedroom.
Lying in bed, she thought for a long time, realizing the matter wasn’t simple. If Grandma Qin and Old Grand Master Qin could see it, what about Qin Xuan? Shouldn’t he see as well? After much thought, Gu Qiaoqiao decided to discuss it with Ah Ze when he returned.
She then rubbed her forehead, decided not to think about it anymore, and soon fell into a dreamless sleep.
The next morning, right after breakfast, Qin Yize returned in haste.
Grandma Qin was very surprised and couldn’t help but ask, "Ah Ze, weren’t you supposed to come back in a week? Why are you back so early?"
Qin Yize originally wanted to talk to Qiaoqiao last night, but seeing how late it was, he didn’t call. He had tossed and turned the whole night, and exchanging glances with Gu Qiaoqiao, he smiled and said, "Grandma, the work is pretty much done, so I came back early."
Grandma Qin watched him smilingly, pursed her lips but said nothing.
She guessed to herself, it probably wasn’t just about finishing work; he must be missing his wife and kids.
But seeing Ah Ze like this now made her truly happy from the inside out. At her age, that’s what she hoped for.
She imagined that when she eventually met the old man again, she could tell him all these little tales.
Even though Qin Yize just came back, he couldn’t rush off to the company immediately, especially since he had important matters today.
Gu Qiaoqiao was busy tidying up the breakfast table, while Xiao Bao and Xiao Bei were being cradled by their father on either side. Gu Qiaoqiao smiled and said, "I’ll make breakfast for you; just wait a bit."
With those words, Qin Yize understood that she hadn’t yet told anyone about Grandpa.
So, he sat at the table holding the two children, waiting patiently. Soon, Gu Qiaoqiao brought over two baskets of steamed dumplings, along with rice porridge and some pickled vegetables.
Xiao Bao complied, left dad’s embrace to play nearby.
But Xiao Bei insisted on staying beside dad to eat a dumpling.
Gu Qiaoqiao had noticed that Xiao Bei truly had quite an appetite.
She looked plumper than Xiao Bao, with a fair, chubby face like an apple. Her bright black eyes were full of spiritual energy, with dark hair that made her look older than a two-year-old.
The two kids were not only smarter than others but also seemed to grow taller faster.
But Gu Qiaoqiao thought since Xiao Bei had already eaten, she shouldn’t have any more.
Seeing Xiao Bei reaching for another dumpling, Gu Qiaoqiao took her bowl away, "Alright, Xiao Bei, you’ve eaten plenty, no more."
Xiao Bei looked at her mom somewhat sadly.
Grandma Qin quickly came over and said, "Xiao Bei has always had a good appetite. If she can eat, that means she needs it. Don’t stop her."
Qin Yize chuckled, patted his daughter’s belly, and nodded, "Let her have one more then."
Compared to Xiao Bao, Xiao Bei was more lively and energetic, naturally digesting food faster.
Seeing both great-grandma and dad supporting her, Xiao Bei proudly raised her little chin.
But this time, Gu Qiaoqiao didn’t indulge her, instead smilingly took her spoon and said, "You just had another, that’s enough. Wait until lunch to eat more."
Then she placed the bowl and spoon aside.
Xiao Bei pouted, looking rather aggrieved.
Seeing Gu Qiaoqiao’s resolve, Qin Yize, however, didn’t comply with his daughter’s request and said, "Xiao Bei, go play with your brother."
Although Grandma Qin thought it was good for kids to eat well, since Qiaoqiao refused, she didn’t insist, knowing that it wouldn’t be beneficial for the child’s upbringing.
But she could give Xiao Bei some pastries.
So Grandma Qin quickly went over, picked up Xiao Bei, and with a smile said, "Xiao Bei, mom’s right; you just finished breakfast, see how your tummy’s full. At noon, great-grandma will make you something tasty; if you get hungry before then, we can have some pastries."
