Chapter 572 - Upgrading the Jade Bracelet
Chapter 572: Upgrading the Jade Bracelet
Chi Shuyan thought that this man had long forgotten about Zhou Manning, and didn’t expect him to still remember her.
In fact, not to mention that the malicious ghost had left a deep impression on him, just Zhou Manning’s vicious and merciless character alone made Qi Zhenbai unwilling to let his wife come into contact with her.
Although he wasn’t a Celestial Master, he had hundreds of ways to deal with that woman, Zhou Manning. Whether or not she really had taken a human life, he had a way to make people believe that she had even if she hadn’t.
But it was obvious that his wife had her own way to resolve this matter. Qi Zhenbai hid the profound expression in his eyes, pursed his lips, and didn’t say anything else as he drove his wife back to the apartment.
Chi Shuyan had the man stop the car in front of the apartment. Qi Zhenbai was afraid that his wife would be bored on her own, and he narrowed his eyes. “Come back to the company with me?”
Chi Shuyan opened the car door and said, “No; you have official business to attend to. I better not disturb you. It just so happens that I’m a bit tired, so I’m going to take a nap!”
Qi Zhenbai’s eyes shifted meaningfully, and his thin lips curled up. “My wife really needs to rest well! After all, she was too tired after last night!”
The man’s voice was especially pleasant to listen to, and carried hints of teasing and ambiguity. Chi Shuyan felt like she had just been given an electric shock. When she heard the man’s last sentence, she feigned calm, but lamented inwardly that he was so shameless. At the thought of how he had tormented her last night, Chi Shuyan didn’t want to continue this topic with him. She said goodbye, opened the car door, and got out.
The man suddenly grabbed her wrist with slender fingers. Chi Shuyan tilted her head and saw the man suddenly lean in close. He pressed his right hand to the back of her head and gave her a scorching kiss, and only let go after a long while.
After Chi Shuyan got out of the car, she had the man drive off first. Qi Zhenbai didn’t move, and only said, “Go in first; I’ll leave after that!”
Chi Shuyan didn’t think much of it and turned around to go back. As she walked, however, she felt a scorching gaze behind her. Chi Shuyan turned her head and saw the man in the car staring at her with hooded eyes.
Chi Shuyan took a few more steps. When she secretly turned her head, she saw that the man was still staring at her.
Chi Shuyan couldn’t help but grumble in her heart. They were only separating for a while, and would see each other again in the evening. Why was he making it seem like they were parting forever?
She went inside the building and lingered for a while before she popped back out. When she saw that the man’s car had left, she sighed with relief.
When she returned to the apartment, Chi Shuyan first went to her room and took out the box of bracelets which Assistant Zhu had brought over before.
She first picked up an ordinary high-grade jade bracelet, circulated her spiritual energy, and tried to send it into the bracelet. The inside of the jade gradually started to roll like billows of clouds, and the originally dead object emitted a faint white light which was very beautiful and filled with spiritual energy.
Compared with before, she didn’t lose as much spiritual energy this time during the transfer, but this jade bracelet was clearly very different from the other bracelets.
It was a lot brighter than the other jade bracelets; under the light, one could see rolling clouds and mist inside, which was obviously extraordinary.
Chi Shuyan was pleased. An ordinary person who wore this jade bracelet all the time would benefit tremendously from it.
Although there wasn’t a lot of spiritual energy in this bracelet, it could be worn frequently, and the spiritual energy could constantly nourish the body and improve the person’s health. Although it didn’t have the same effect as spirit rice or Nourishment Pills in the beginning, it was still more useful in the long run.
