Chapter 1181 Given A Choice
Chapter 1181 Given A Choice
"The Phantom Queen...?!" Love Mist exclaimed as she held her hands over her mouth in mouth.
The Phantom Queen was known as the best magic caster in RML. If one could learn even one or two things from her, it would undoubtedly prove beneficial to them. Not to mention, the Phantom Queen had a reputation for being a lonewolf and not setting the top guilds in her sights. Just how did he manage to get her to agree to teach someone else for a week?
After all, even those top guilds were unable to secure this kind of opportunity despite trying their best to woo the Phantom Queen.
"What you can learn will be up to you. So, make sure you play close attention." Izroth reminded.
"Y-Yes, Captain! Thank you very much!" Love Mist replied with gratitude as she was still in the midst of organizing her thoughts.
Initially, Izroth thought about asking Valentine to teach Love Mist; however, after thinking about it, he decided that Morrighan was the best choice. It was not that Valentine's understanding of magic or magic itself was below that of the Phantom Queen's. Rather, Valentine was in the middle of finding his own path of magic. While he could teach Love Mist other things he knew, it would be difficult for him to teach a path he was still creating.
As for Morrighan, she was already walking down a defined path. However, she added her own insights and understanding to that path, causing it to grow beyond that it used to be. This kind of approach was better for someone like Love Mist, who was cautious by nature.
"That concludes the rewards for those with the most outstanding performance. Keep in mind, as long as you do not slack off and continue to hold your head high as a member of the 9th Division, there is always a chance that it can be you next time." Izroth said with a meaningful gaze.
He then continued, "Now, I will give the rest of you the rewards for your hard work."
'I would have liked to give everyone a Latent Attainment Pill, but the recipe is too demanding. I will have to find a more sustainable way to craft them.'
The Latent Attainment Pill was the recipe Izroth received after using the Heart of A Creator passive of the Unparalleled Craftsman skill on the Prosperous Bead of Attainment.
The Prosperous Bead of Attainment was the item Izroth acquired from the Special Event Treasure Chest, an event only treasure obtainable by combining three Treasure Shards into one.
Izroth found that the effects were worth using one of the four slots of his Heart of A Creator passive to learn. As a result, the Latent Attainment Pill was brought into existence.
As for the materials required to craft the Latent Attainment Pill, it required one common, uncommon, rare, superior, ancient and mythical herb of the same type.
While the common, uncommon and even rare was not much of an issue, it started to become unsustainable when it approached the superior quality materials. Nevertheless, if it were just a matter of qualities, that would not be a big problem. But, since they all had to be herbs and the same type at that, it became somewhat of a headache.
Acquiring six herbs of the same type such as six fire-type herbs or six ice-type herbs of varying qualities was no simple task.
Of course, Izroth had the materials from Franz's garden in his possession. But, many of the materials from Franz's garden were impossible to find anywhere in the Mortal Realm. To use them on creating Latent Attainment Pills on a large scale was too wasteful.
After Izroth finished giving Bellum, Champion and Love Mist their rewards, he handed out the general reward to the others of the 9th Division.
The general reward as a small bag that contained 50 gold coins, one middle grade Self Awakening Pill and fourteen lower grade Self Awakening Pills.
'Their chances of undergoing a Self Awakening will be left up to fate. That being said, the Ahead of the Pack effect alone makes it something desirable for players.'
Not only did the Self Awakening Pill permanently increase one's experience gain, but upon consuming it again, it would increase that experience gain further for one hour. While this effect could only be used once every 24 hours, it was something that could be used indefinitely.
"Be sure to take the highest grade Self Awakening Pill first. The others are mainly meant to activate its secondary effect. Going forward, you will be able to earn a stable amount of Self Awakening Pills every month based on your rank in the 9th Division. It will also be possible to earn more based on your performance alone." Izroth stated clearly.
After thinking about it, Izroth decided to use Self Awakening Pill as a means of reward and payment to those of the 9th Division.
Izroth knew that if he wanted to grow the General Support Unit into the strongest war branch and the 9th Division into the greatest force, he needed those who were a part of it to keep their focus here. If what he gave was not adequate or tempting enough, how could he continue to ask them to give it their all?
"I will make this clear now. Those who do what they are supposed to or go beyond will always be rewarded. However, those who fall behind through no fault but their own or slack off will be penalized. The 9th Division has no need for those who are not willing to put in the effort. That is why, I will give you all the same choice I gave you when you first joined. If there is any of you who wishes to leave, then you are free to do so. You may keep the gold you've earned- no, I will triple the gold I have given you. However, you must return the Self Awakening Pills." Izroth declared.
'It's best to do this now.'
Izroth's words caused a stir among the members of the 9th Division as they whispered and muttered among themselves.
If Izroth tripled their gold, that would be 450 gold coins. 450 gold coins was equivalent to 67,500 RMB! That was equivalent to several months of salary for most of those present!
As for the pills, since nothing like them existed anywhere else, the price tag on them would be at least a few hundred gold coins a piece for the lower quality ones—and they had tens of them in their possession! To receive triple of that was well, wouldn't it be more than enough for them to live comfortably for a year or two if they sold everything? Unfortunately, it was a shame that could not hold onto the unique pills they obtained. Still, 450 gold coins was a tempting offer.
Izroth swept his gaze across the members of the 9th Division. Indeed, Izroth was a man of his word. If anyone truly wanted to leave now, he would triple their rewards and send them on their way. This was a price Izroth did not mind paying to weed out anyone who was not determined to see things through until the end. After all, if brief monetary gains were enough to sway them, what would happen when the 9th Division grew and enemies started to employ different methods of attack? If someone had such a small price to their determination, how easy would it be for such a person to betray others for the right price?
"Um... Is it true? Will you really triple our rewards?" A voice sounded from the crowd of whispers and mutters as a young man stepped forward.
The young man wore a set of leather armor and had a one-handed axe hanging from his side. He went by the name Poised Axe and was one of the players who had been placed under Niflheim's command since he joined the 9th Division.
When Poised Axe spoke up, the eyes on everyone in the room fell onto him as he anxiously made his way to the front.
"Ah... I should've just kept my mouth shut. Damn it, was this just a test, after all?" Poised Axe thought to himself as his nerves started to show.
"I, Izroth, am a man of my word. Rest assured, I nor the 9th Division will hold anything against you. However, once you leave, joining again will not be possible. As long as you understand that, you can hand over the Self Awakening Pills and I will give you the promised gold coins." Izroth said in a straightforward manner.
Poised Axe seemed a bit hesitant at first; however, soon after, he handed over the Self Awakening Pills he obtained to Izroth.
Izroth took the Self Awakening Pills and handed Poised Axe a small bag in return.
Poised Axe wasted no time checking the contents of the bag. And, the moment he did so, he released a sigh of relief as a wide smile found its way onto his face. 300 gold coins—it was all there just as Izroth had promised. Added to the 150 gold coins he kept, he earned a total of 450 gold coins!
