Chapter 2616: Vs Shimmy
Chapter 2616: Vs Shimmy
Abhi moved aggressively.
He wasn’t intimidated by Shimmy. But that doesn’t mean he wasn’t cautious. His father Parth, didn’t treat a lot of people as his rivals. But he treated Shimmy that way. So, he didn’t dare underestimate him.
Abhi went into rapid mode.
The bow string reverberated nonstop. Multiple times a second. He still didn’t conjure up an arrow.
But the energy in the arena vibrated, rippling, creating chaos with every pull.
Shimmy, who is about to gather his spiritual energy to attack, felt his flow go out of control.
He couldn’t do any ranged attacks. Even when he did conjure up an attack, it was always disrupted before it could hit Abhi. So, Shimmy switched to close combat.
Two daggers appeared in his hands and he dashed towards Abhi.
Abhi switched his attacks. It was still empty bow, but this time, the spiritual energy reverberation was concentrated. Its physically hit Shimmy. He was about to sense them and react, but out of three at least one came close. He had to block them or parry them. Dodging was impossible.
Still, he closed the distance...
He interlocked his arm around the bow and grinned. He was so close to Abhi’s face...but instead of the nervousness or panic that he expected to see, Abhi was calm. There was even a faint smile on his face.
He pulled the bow string to the limit and...
*BOOM*
The explosive ripple made Shimmy move back. But before he could gather his footing, Abhi was already dashing towards him. With two daggers of his own.
Now it became a game of speed and precision. The daggers clashed, giving out sparks. Both fighters are on edge. If they slip up even a little bit, their opponent would get an advantage.
Judging by the way it is going, the small slip up is all anyone needs right now.
But the experience Shimmy accumulated is not there for show.
As time passed, Abhi started losing momentum. Shimmy couldn’t overpower him, but he did make Abhi lose his stamina. While Abhi started panting, Shimmy was barely sweating.
"You are good, Abhi. Maybe even more talented than your father. But you have too little experience."
Then he knocked Abhi out and stabbed him in the heart.
The match was over...
"Who’s next?"
Shimmy asked with a crooked grin.
He really overthought this game. All he needed were strong opponents. Its just that on an equal footing, Sam’s side is too good. They defeated their opponents with ease.
But Shimmy is a different story...
He might not be as strong as Parth or Bhim. But few could come close to him.
Sam just gave one message to his friends..
"It doesn’t matter if you win or lose. He would be a good sparring partner. Go and have fun..."
And that’s all his friends did.
In terms of pure strength...none of them are weaker than Shimmy when on same level. But Shimmy is too good at fighting skills and too good at reading his opponents. That is where most of his friends lost.
And it was finally time for Sam to face him.
"I must commend your friends...if I fought them when I was their age...they would have kicked my ass. I wouldn’t have a shot at beating any one of them. Not even Abhi. I feel worthless all of a sudden.
They should feel proud." Shimmy paid the complement without holding back.
"Well, they won’t. They are a bit competitive. But they will get over it after some training." Sam replied and smiled.
"Let’s get started...I want to see how well you could do against me."
"You won’t like it that much."
Sam took out two daggers as well...
"You sure? Daggers are kind of my speciality."
Sam didn’t bother answering him and took off...
His speed matched Shimmy’s perfectly. Both of them were tangled in a dance. They were smooth, precise, and neither of their blades reached the other. However, Sam’s moves were too slick.
In one exchange, he blocked Shimmy’s dagger, and let it slip. He coiled around Shimmy’s hand, and almost stabbed him on the shoulder...Shimmy used his second dagger to block him at the last moment.
Sam didn’t let go though. He just locked Shimmy’s joint, and hung on to Shimmy’s shoulder. Then slipped down below and tangled to his legs.
Shimmy felt frustrated. Sam was like a snake...In fact, Sam is just a couple of inches smaller than Shimmy. But he didn’t understand, how he is doing this. He was stuck to shimmy like a python, moving all over his body like he owned it.
Almost every attack came from an impossible angle.
Shimmy tried to move around, to forcefully get Sam off his body. But it just didn’t work out.
In one frustrated moment, he couldn’t take it anymore...He let Sam stab into his thigh, which slowed Sam a little bit. Shimmy dropped one of his daggers and grabbed Sam with the empty hand. Then he threw him on the ground...
Sam stood up with a smile.
He didn’t wait long and made the next move.
Tihs time, Shimmy was careful. He made sure that Sam didn’t get too close to him. He stayed on move, pulling away from Sam.
He even started throwing daggers to make sure Sam is kept at bay.
Sam, of course, matched his pace again...But instead of just parrying the incoming daggers though, Sam started catching one after the other.
Shimmy was stunned...At one point, Sam caught over eight daggers holding them by their blades in between his fingers...
Then he started the counter attack...Within no time, Shimmy was caught off guard and in process of blocking the moves, Sam caught up to him.
"Its getting boring, Shimmy.’
Sam’s body changed. He activated shadow energy. Partial fusion. That’s when Shimmy knew he would lose in skill. Sam’s speed is too much for him. Sure he could match it precision and timing. But Sam’s skill is equally good.
Shimmy thought of only one thing....stamina. That has been his style since the start anyway.
So, he let time pass.
FIve minutes, ten minutes, twenty minutes, for over an hour... he held his ground...and Sam too realized one thing.
Shimmy is good...Too good. In that one hour, he tried his hardest to deal with him. He didn’t use his other weapons of course. Maybe claws, or reaper would have things a lot easier. But with daggers he couldn’t find a complete opening to land a finishing move...
However, Shimmy’s stamina strategy backfired big time.
"Why are you not getting tired?" Shimmy almost screamed out loud while panting...meanwhile Sam barely got any sweat on him.
