Chapter 2612: Cowardly Traitors

Chapter 2612: Cowardly Traitors

The news didn’t reach Shimmy immediately.

All the traitors were shit scared about letting it know. And without even knowing, they started banding together. There was a silent agreement that they would keep the whole shit show hidden from Shimmy for as long as possible.

After all, Shimmy is not in the field. And luckily, Sam didn’t ask them to free the spirits. He only asked them to kill each other. As long as the spirits are confined, they could cover this up pretty easily.

As for what would happen when Shimmy eventually finds out... they would cross that bridge when they reach there.

But what they didn’t guess is that... Sam is an efficient person. He doesn’t like waiting and wasting time on things. Particularly, when he is screwing with his enemies.

So, he sent another message to Shimmy the very next day.

Shimmy got the message, when he was already in a pretty unique bind.

All the forces that he sent to the villages were either captured or wiped out. He couldn’t even get a decent visual from there. Even when he sent higher level cultivators to at least scout and get a recording crystal from there...

He couldn’t get anything concrete.

So, he didn’t know what Sam’s plan is.

And from all the reports he got from the field...the spirits are still captured properly.

That only made things confusing for him.

That’s when Sam’s message came in. And it was a video recording this time. Sam is leisurely sitting at his strategy desk while munching on some fried meat, with even some wine glass on the side.

He didn’t look one bit flustered. There is not a single sign of war stress on his side. In fact, he could see some kids running around in the background.

Shimmy paused the video and looked at his own war room. He wanted to slap himself in the face for five minutes straight. But he was scared his assistants would also start looking down on him. So, he had to control himself.

Then he brought his attention back to the video.

"Shimmy, right?

I heard a lot about you. Parth said you are the best strategist in all of daksh. Even Saha is only close second to you.

I admire that. You must be pretty good.

So, I figured as a fellow strategist, I would discuss some strategic philosophy with you. I know, I know...talking through a prerecorded message is not as fun as a face to face talk. But this is the best we could do for now.

Now, what do you think is the worst demographic of people that could possibly exist in an army? Like you know, the kind that would bring you more harm than good, if they are in your team?

I am really interested in your take.

Because my opinion...is that its the cowardly traitors...

Traitors are of course the worst to have, and Cowardly soldiers are not really that good. But the first you can try to prevent through cultivating loyalty. The second you can manage by boosting morale..

But what about the combination of both?

They turn traitors because they are too afraid. Not just of the war and the consequences of it...even to admit that they are afraid or in danger...too afraid to tarnish their own glory.

Those guys are the worst of the worst.

And they are also the weakest links of any army.

Turns out, your side has quite a few of them. So, I decided to put them to good use. Think of it as me identifying those rats for you.

Whether you smoke them to death or let them fester on your side, is your wish. But do it fast....because by the time, this message ends...those rats are going to go berserk and try to take a bite off the cat.

The problem is...you yourself know what kind of cats you are dealing with right now...it’s not going to be a pleasant exchange."

The message ended. And Shimmy went crazy for a few seconds...

"Cowardly Traitors... Who the fuck are they?"

He really couldn’t guess...because he didn’t actually have the complete understanding of all the factions. But Shimmy is not someone who would get caught up with such a small drawback.

If he doesn’t have all the info, he would start with the info he had.

He opened the list of all his forces in there...

And called in some of the leaders that are incharge of all kinds of troops, the ones that would know their own subordinates better.

"Identify who is more likely to betray the faction, as long as it can be covered up, for their own personal benefit."

That’s the description Shimmy figured out from Sam’s explanation.

And he was not that far off..

Because as he looked at the Consummate stage cultivators, a few names highlighted...

"Quick..find out if the kids of all these people signed up in the frontline forces." He pointed at a few consummate cultivators...

The subordinates immediately looked into it...But still there were just too many names they had to go through. And they don’t have an organized system like Sam does. They can’t just shout a name and it would highlight. In fact, they don’t even know all the names of the kids.

Still, they used all their spiritual senses and figured out that they didn’t sign up.

"Okay, contact these candidates. I want to know what their current and recent activity is..." Shimmy screamed... But then his assistant reminded...

"Sir, it’s been an hour already."

Shimmy was stunned. He didn’t notice the time.

"Quickly, get in touch with them..." Shimmy screamed again. But he had a really really really bad feeling.

Within five minutes, he understood why.

Almost all the consummate stage cultivators that Shimmy picked, left their posts and are all charging towards Hastin village.

"These idiots.."

As if that’s not enough, they noticed several cultivators of same level from other factions are also charging forward.
