Chapter 2473 One at a time
Chapter 2473 One at a time
The gambler team gulped nervously.
They exchanged glances, everyone of them had something to say, but at the same time no words to express it. They understood one thing though. They are scared.
Sam didn't notice their state. He might not have cared even if he did.
"After the initial exchange, I think this is a great next step."
As he spoke, there are some more people who entered the zone and they too dissipated into the exact same bloody list like before.
"Its working perfectly." Sam muttered again.
Haziel was dumbfounded by his nonchalance. She did hear and even saw his exploits when he chased and killed dozens of second graders and first graders. But this is next level callousness. His disregard to the lives of all these people left a bad taste in her mouth.
She recalled the time when Sam explained the plan to her.
"We are going to give them a gift as soon as they enter. The ambushes will just be a start though. After a few days, we will develop a habit in them. They will be expecting more attacks, anticipating our next move.
Then, we are going to block the entrance
I got something special planned for that. But I need you guys to do a lot of work on it. My cultivation level is a bit too low to create it by myself with so few resources at hand.
Once we install that, the exit will be blocked. Then, it will be open season for us. We will take them down."
At first, they didn't think much of it. They just assumed Sam would pull out some next level barricade tech. But instead of blocking the entrance, he put up a death trap. The green portal is right here, in front of their eyes, but anyone who tries to reach out to it will die.
The worst part is, they don't even know what is actually killing them.
They walk in and disappear that is all.
Now, they are worried about what he is going to do next.
"Alright guys. Before we proceed further, I need your word on something."
Sam interrupted her thoughts. Haziel and the team exchanged a glance again and nodded. They don't have much choice anyway.
"In the next few days, you are going to witness and participate in some things that you wouldn't have imagined. You wouldn't even dream of doing those things in your nightmares.
But you will do it anyway.
I am giving you a headsup.
Not a single person from the Athena academy and the Hephaestus academy will be leaving this planet alive. They will all die and unfortunately for them, I don't have the cultivation to take them head on.
So, my moves will be sneaky, underhanded, even dirty.
Which makes them all brutal.
So, steel your hearts now. I don't want you guys to wimp out on me later on. If you need any time to digest it, either do it now or save it for the time you can leave this planet by yourself.
Or, if you are too cowardly to follow through with this, tell me now. I have a way to send you out of here and I will do it without a second thought.
But if you do choose to stay here. You better see this to the end."
His words indeed solidified Haziel's doubts. He was indeed planning something hard to digest.
However… none of them came forward to leave. After five minutes Sam nodded and said.
"Good.
Now, let me block the obvious entrances out there. The worm holes connecting will be blocked as well and I am going to keep the bird puppets, shadows and souls to keep an eye on any possible activity. I think its better to establish a network across the planet while we are at it.
The manufacturing is easy for me, it won't take long to install them.
Once we cut off all their possible escape routes, we are going to use the terrain and their weaknesses to the maximum.
And we are not doing group kills. We are doing individual kills. We are taking one target at a time. If others die in the middle, that's an added bonus. But our goal is always, killing just one person at a time.
Now, the first target on the list is a big one. The young master of the Faust Household. One of the star students of the Hephaestus academy…."
Sam went on to explain the plan carefully. He didn't miss a single detail and even recounted it multiple times.
The team listened and were stunned again and again. Not because the plan is sophisticated or complicated. But because it is too… simple.
It is way too simple and direct.
Soon, it was time for the execution and half an hour later after the Gambler academy left the base…
Far away, in the middle of an open field, there was a large hole which is laced with raging flames, like an inferno. In that pit, a group of people, mostly from the Hephaestus academy were trying hard to save one guy.
The one guy who also happened to be the first target on Sam's list.
In that raging fiery pit, he was at the centre, trapped in a cage of fire that was consuming him with every passing seconds. There are several spots on his body, glowing with increased divine energy. He lost complete control over his energy circulation.
And the worst part was not that. It was the small cube under his foot. If one observed would notice that the same cube, which was redirecting the raging flames of the pit to create this cage of fire around him.
The same cage of fire that actually entered his body and ravaged his meridians and veins, making him lose the control over his own energy flow.
Haziel and her team are watching the scene unfold from a few miles away through a crystal table, Sam watched the same scene from the base.
As they did, the orange flames slowly turned a tad darker, the curse in the cube was activated.
