Chapter 2430: Lightning Wrath
At sunrise.
The city that Sam picked, which he called the First-target is currently full of preparations. Even though Dayus decided to let Sam have this, he really didn't want to give up without a fight. Particularly, when he didn't have to stick out his neck on his own.
He sent one of the Zeus academy members there along with a high level mercenary team to defend.
Their job was just that.
To defend no matter what attacks are thrown by Sam, they are to defend and to defend only. There is no other task for them.
So, they brought up every single defensive formation that they could install in those few hours and finished it. Waiting for the sun to raise.
Exactly the moment, the sun rose. Sam appeared in their line of sight. Coming in on his harbinger.
He threw the harbinger into his storage when he came to the vicinity of the city. He then flew over the over the city, stopping exactly at its center.
Of course, there is a massive dome of barriers that stood in between him and the city. He is just hovering a few meters above the formation, at exactly its center. He didn't waste too much time. The moment he decided on the lightning attacks, no matter what city it could be, there was only one plan in his mind.
That is to play the role of god of lightning. With a wave of his hands, bird puppets flew out his storage.
They are a bit different from the bird puppets that he has used before. Lightning energy surged through their bodies. They are looking exactly like Thunder Rocs. A bird species known for its lightning abilities.
Sam modelled these puppets after those birds. Apart from the natural growth and some of their bloodline attacks, these puppets are extremely similar to those rocs.
Silver lightning crackled around those puppets as they spread out. They formed a giant circle with Sam at the center, followed by another circle, and then another and another. Finally, there are eight circles made by these bird puppets all of them flying in circles.
Sam who stood in the middle, slowly started changing color. Silver lightning surged throughout the body as he activated complete fusion.
The moment he did, he looked like a humanoid figure purely made out of lightning. Apart from the outline of his head and face along with some features of the upper body, there was nothing else that could be seen.
Dark clouds gathered around him. They are so dense that all the bird puppets are concealed behind them.
At that moment, Sam's figure grew. As if he became the god of lightning himself, his figure became so big that he was almost as big as the biggest building of that city.
A lightning bolt conjured in his right hand and threw it directly at the dome.
*BAM*
With the loudest explosion one could imagine, the lightning bolt hit the peak of the dome. At the same time, from the surrounding clouds, twelve more lightning bolts shot down hitting the formation at various spots with equal intensity as his original attack.
*RUMBLE*
The formation shook.
With just one shot, the first layer of the barriers was destroyed. Sam didn't stop though. A second lightning conjured in his hands.
*BAM*
A much more powerful shot and this time, sixteen bolts hit the barrier along with it.
The second layer crumbled.
What followed next is Sam's continuous attacks of lightning bolts raining down on the barrier.

*BAM*
*BAM*
The lightning bolts kept increasing by eight with every strike he made. The barrier crumbled layer up on layer.
The people who are handling the barrier are confused.
They could sense the attacks created by Sam. They could see that they are not really that strong. Even with all the amplification Sam is getting through the bird puppets, each attack is at most as strong as a Peak stage second grade cultivator.
But the barrier is made to withstand a lot more than that. He just couldn't comprehend how the barrier is collapsing even then.
It is as if Sam knew every weakness of the formation.
And they are right in that thought. The formation is indeed strong, but it lacked the refined
and compex structure that could make it difficult to comprehend and solve.
Its structure is way too simple that he managed to figure it out within five minutes.
After that, everything else is just cakewalk.
Soon, Sam's bolt created an 80 lightning attacks, destroying the last remaining formation.
Sam's face slowly produced a wicked grin as the lightning conjured in his hands. The mercenary leader in charge was stunned.
"We need to stop him. We need to attack him."
"But Dayus..."
"If he finishes the attack, I don't know if we can block it. We need to hit him directly.
As he said, he flew into the air charging at Sam, hoping to hit him before the lightning is
conjured.
But he was a tad bit too late.
*BAM*
The lightning bolt came at him. Followed by eighty eight lightning bolts striking at different spots of the city.
The mercenaries made a move, everyone hoping to block one lightning strike.
*BAM*
Everyone crashed into the ground. As if they were little birds flying in the air before getting shot down by lightning. They fell to the ground, with their bodies paralyzed. They left behind craters in the ground with its surroundings completely charred.
Sam continued with conjuring the lightning.
This time however, it is a lot stronger, a lot denser. The surrounding spiritual energy was completely dragged into the clouds, almost draining the whole environment around.
The lightning bolt size tripled gradually.
*BAM*
Sam threw the bolt down into the middle of the city. Following that are 96 lightning bolts
with the same intensity as the first. Not a single thing about that city was visible for a
moment. It was covered with a curtain of silver flashes.
Once those flashes are gone, there was nothing standing in that city. The people, the
structures, everything and everyone collapsed.
No resistance was ever present in that short and brief moment Sam showed his wrath on the city. He disappeared into thin air as if he was never there.
Some nearby forces and people came running to see the aftermath of the city and they were stunned by the sight left behind.
Three words were left behind in the spot of the city. Three words formed by the neat and
precise order of craters created by lightning strikes.
'SAM WAS HERE'
The words appeared just as unbridled as Sam's attacks.
The news quickly travelled to all the forces on the planet. Whether they are forces of the academies or they are local, they all heard the news and even got the images of it.
Those three words sent a shiver down everyone's spine.
Only two people are just gritted their teeth as they swallowed the humiliation and resentment
that coursed through them when they saw those words.
Yet, that was just the beginning. Just one hour after the sunrise, Sam appeared near a different
city.
The second location and this time, as he arrived, there are a lot more people defending this place. The mercenaries in charge of this place are determined to hold on to it. Because their initial contract with the Zeus academy team was like that. The more land they can help conquer for the academy team, the more money they will get.
And even among mercenaries they had strict competition.
On top of that, it is also a matter of reputation. It is not easy for them to get assignments directly from the academy realm. That too from one of the top academies, if the word got out that they didn't even put up a fight, because their owner is 'slightly afraid' their reputation will be in tatters.
So, they decided to put on a brave front and charged at Sam as soon as he arrived.
Sam who was on his harbinger even activated partial light fusion as he moved around,
dodging their attacks, before he halted right in the middle of them.
"Why would you take such unnecessary trouble to welcome me?"
As Sam said, he took out a small space jade and threw it in the air, before he disappeared from
the spot. The mercenary leader who was closest to Sam ran over and caught the space jade. He checked the contents only to find some metal cards. There are hundreds of them.
Upon closer inspection, he noticed that there are a bunch of runic inscriptions on the space
jade itself.
He looked around, finding Sam standing in the air far away from them.
Sam took out a card and snapped his fingers. The runes on the space jade glowed. He felt the concentration of energy and instinctively threw it away.
The space jade broke open, making the huge number of cards rain over the city.
