Chapter 2294: Trapped in Tunnel
Both the formations are overlapping with each other.
This clash of energies created a vibration throughout the room. And that vibration is not just limited to the physically tangible objects like the walls, even the energy barrier over the wall is also vibrating.
The spiritual energy moved chaotically as both formations worked together to create a field of gravity in the middle. The gravity part of the formation created a core area where all the energy gathered. It created a gravitational pull and tried to pull the walls of the room.
In addition to that, the spatial formation started messing with the fabric of space in the surroundings. The excessive force of attraction and the excessive disruption of spatial fabric soon created enough chaos to tear the whole room apart.
Sam stood in the combined core of this formation unaffected by all of this.
The first thing that went away is the energy barrier. Then the wall started collapsing bit by bit.
The walls on all four sides along with the ceiling. The only thing that is not disturbed is the floor because of the arrangement of the formation.
Sam controlled the formation now and started redirecting the force of attraction. He focused mostly on the central parts of the four walls and the ceilings. This change made the wall lose it parts faster in the central area.
As it collapsed, soon five pathways opened around Sam.
He activated his energy vision and looked through all five paths. All five are open pathways. He could just walk out. He thought for a moment and decided on the ceiling path.
*SWOOSH*
He disappeared from the core of the formation before he reappeared in the ceiling's hole. He went through the hole and stood in the dark path. He could barely see anything even with his enhanced vision.
Sam slowly started walking forward.
Meanwhile, the formation made of gravity and space is still chaotically growing slowly. Bit by bit. Without Sam controlling the formation, it is attacking the walls uniformly. Increasing the holes in their central paths while sucking the surrounding spiritual energy to its core.
All the debris joined together at the center and deformed more and more with the acting gravitational force. The debris almost turned into a ball and it is increasing in its size. At the same time, the spatial tears, albeit minute are appearing with the room.
The only good thing about it is that the force of attraction or spatial disturbance is not going past the boundaries of that room. Even though the wall is disappearing, the force is only acting up to the point where the wall has been.
The only thing from beyond the boundaries that is gathering is the spiritual energy. Nothing
more.
Sam left it there and didn't bother with it.
He is in a long corridor that he is kinda familiar with. It is similar to the corridor that he encountered in the freshman tournament. As he walked, he soon figured that it is the same corridor, but a different part of it.
Because he saw a familiar pathway leading him into a dark tunnel of sorts.
The tunnel that gave almost all the participants a lot of trouble. The same tunnel that Sam broke open last time and accidentally slipped into the second grade level formation challenge. He thought for a moment and placed a formation at the edge of the tunnel.
The formation has a layer of concealment that hid it well with the surroundings. He didn't take the tunnel and went straight in the corridor. Since the competition is to take each other down, he might as well place as many traps in the possible locations as possible.
Sam increased his speed and moved like a flash. Within two minutes he saw the next corridor. He placed a formation there and walked further in the corridor. This time, it took a bit longer to find the tunnel. However, as soon as he arrived there, he saw it with his energy vision.
The energy is moving weirdly there.
Simply put, he could see the spiritual energy at the border of the entrance all pouring downwards, creating a circle on the floor, before it disappeared into the ground. It doesn't take a genius to figure out there is a formation there.
The concealment is good, but it is no thorough.
He enveloped the formation with his own spiritual energy and used the observation ability. He scanned its energy network completely and started simulating its structure in his head. It is a very complicated formation.
It is a trap to capture the opponent, however, he could see that there is a signal mechanism embedded into it.
As soon as someone enters this, they will be stuck but the owner of the formation will also get a signal immediately.
He doesn't know what the opponent is planning, but Sam thought over and didn't bother triggering it.
Instead, he laid down a formation of his own around it.
Then he started moving around in the corridor. For some reason, there are no traps in this large circular corridor. There are only tunnels that could lead them inside. Maybe the traps of the castle will only be triggered once they entered the central area through the tunnel. He also remembered that they used a similar pattern in the freshman competition. Sam completed a full circle in the next twenty minutes and made a few traps here and there. He entered the next tunnel he came across without much thought. He is completely enveloped with darkness and his other senses are blurry. It is state of complete unawareness.
The only thing he is aware of is that there is an energy barrier that appeared behind him. As he stepped back, he felt that invisible wall completely trapping him here.
He tried to get a feel of it, but he is unable to deduce its structure. It all looked like a complete mass of energy. He kind of figured that that is not there for him to break through. He took a couple of steps forward and the lights appeared in the tunnel.
He could see the other end even. It is a closed wall, but it has a groove of some sorts, which he believed helps him access the exit.
The problem is Sam couldn't just dash to it and be done with it. Because the whole tunnel is filled with energy beams. All of them looked extremely similar to security lasers that are used in security systems from back on earth.
The similarity brought him so many memories.
However, unlike most security lasers, which are usually used as sensors of an alert system, these energy beams are lethal. He could feel their lethality around him.
Sam stood there, straight like a flag pole, without moving even an inch. He is surrounded by energy beams. From the ceiling, the two walls on the side and even from the ground, the energy beams are shot creating a cage around him.
He only has space a bit larger than a square foot. That is all. He cannot even move his arms around freely and had to stand there.
He instantly spread his spiritual energy into the surroundings.
*CRACKLE* *CRACKLE*
Even the spiritual energy which usually blends in as the part of surrounding atmosphere was attacked by the energy beams. When the energy touched the beams, it is crackled as if a
mosquito passed through an electrified mesh.
As usual, Sam moved to his familiar technique. The all-purpose energy vision.
He could see it. The energy beams are not just similar to lasers in terms of looks, but even their function is very similar to lethal laser beams.
It is just that they are so potent that they are even cutting through the spiritual energy that touched them.
Judging from the intensity of it, Sam might be able to endure a couple of those beams if he decided to run past it. But, neither his strong body nor his defensive capabilities would be enough when pure energy like this cuts through him.
Just to test it out, Sam conjured an energy barrier in the path of the beam.
*SWOOSH*
It didn't even take the time of conjuring the barrier, it is gone instantly. Gone might even be
an unsuitable word here. A hole directly appeared in the barrier as if it was conjured that way.
The barrier dispersed and Sam sighed.
This is some sick trap. Sam has laid down some pretty sick traps himself, but this is a revelation even to the likes of him. However, he is sure that there must be a way out.
He tried a few things first.
Shadow element, didn't allow him to pass through. The moment he turned into the shadow, the energy beams suddenly turned into energy curtains, completely blocking him in there, forcing him to come out of his form.
He tried using wind fusion, light fusion as well. The moment he turned, once again the energy beams became curtains.
When he used space fusion, some barrier function of the tunnel as activated that negated him
from leaving the spot.
After trying a few methods, he realized only formations can get him out of here. Should have realized that before, after all, that is the point of the whole test.
A few metal pins flew out of his storage. He controlled them with his metal element.
