Sam dashed through the burning room and appeared in the hallway.
The opponent took some real damage. He was stumbling as he tried to run, but tried to keep up his pace. As he did that, he started dropping formation discs that created barriers to keep Sam at Bay.
Sam just aimed his hand gun and started shooting as he moved forward.
*BOOM*

One formation after another was knocked down easily. The distance between him and the opponent closed down. At that moment, the opponent already reached the other end of the hallway. Sam is just a couple of feet away.
Now, he could either turn to the side and roll down the stairs or… well he chose the second option. He gritted his teeth and jumped out of the window.
Sam lunged forward and stood at the window before shooting down.

By now, there are dozens of people inside and outside Paradise inn all looking at the spectacle. They saw as Sam shot down his opponent who was free falling.

The opponent crashed into the ground, leaving a crater. His body is burning with flames and the surroundings are melting down. It was eerily similar to a meteor strike. Sam jumped down the window and landed beside the opponent.
The opponent lost consciousness and is barely breathing.
He couldn't possibly declare his surrender. Sam shrugged and aimed the gun at his head.

When he shot, a barrier appeared around the opponent and the bullet's force was negated. The energy dispersed and the metal shell just bounced back. The token on Sam's body which was green a moment ago, turned back to Yellow.
Meanwhile, the token on the opponent's body turned to red and a crack appeared on it.
Sam raised an eyebrow as he observed the surroundings. The opponent surely couldn't have surrendered. So, the only possible explanation is that the elder in charge has declared the surrender, saving this guy's life. That mean's the elder is definitely around.
Of course, if the other party deliberately tried to hide, there is no way Sam could find his presence.
He shrugged and went back to the inn. Luckily, there are no many people on his floor and not all of them came back there after ceremony. Maybe they were discussing strategy among themselves. Or they were hunting down others. Or, they are not participating the Solo Combat and are minding their own business.
Sam just picked one of the empty rooms and decided to stay there.
This time, there is no one waiting in ambush for him. He laid down on his bed and looked at the gun and the special bullet that he used. He is actually surprised that this bullet was not stopped by the formation.
After all, the damage created by this bullet is extremely unnatural. It is not like there are a bunch of people running around with the capabilities to liquify energy and then making it explode.

How could he have not prepared against such an obvious trap.
