Chapter 2116 Trial
2116 Trial
While the meeting between the Dean and Theron was going on, back in the Academy realm.
The Olympian region was in chaos. Many new faces and powerful forces were spotted and every academy member is on high alert. Hundreds of cases for flaming skulls are being sent, but none of them are getting any response.
After all, a child could guess that they are just plotting.
Sam does have a plan to reduce that, but for now, he has to go for a trial. He has hundreds of cases filed against him, courtesy to most of the Zeus Academy students, the students' family members and many other academy students.
All of his complaints were going to be on a combined trial today.
And the opposition… it is the one and only the City guard captain. Even in that fervent atmosphere with everyone focusing so hard on the legacy inheritance, people still had time to pay attention on Sam's trial.
This is the biggest trial in a few centuries.
To have more than a dozen cases filed on a single person is already a record in itself. Sam has multiple dozens. When Sam entered the courtroom, he walked with a calm and bored face. He had his hands in his pockets, while he chewed on something. He didn't even look interested and to everyone's surprise, he walked in alone.
Usually, whenever a big case like this was filed, their academy or their forces would be backing him and will send a couple of representatives to help him argue his case, but he came alone.
Dove and others actually wanted to come as well. In fact, Dean Wharton was more than willing to send some elders. Even Ling Tian wanted to give out a helping hand, however, he rejected all of them. He already knows what the enemy is planning, it would be stupid of him if he couldn't take advantage of that.
This whole thing should be his victory by default.
When he stood in the stand, the guard captain didn't waste a second of time. He immediately stood up and made his case.
"Sir, this man named Sam, who is also student of the Gambler's Academy has been causing a lot of commotion in the Academy realm.
Apart from repeatedly offending many people and antagonizing other academy's students, recently he started exacting revenge on the Zeus Academy.
He employed Flaming Skulls, a known terrorist organization within the Academy realm to kill dozens of students from the Zeus Academy. Apart from the deaths there are dozens more that were injured severely and with a possibility of being crippled.
His activities exceeded any moral tolerance and the constant attacks are threatening the operations of the city.
I hope that I can prove it to you and you can grant him the highest form of punishment possible."
The judge looked at the captain and asked.
"The flaming skulls is a terrorist organization? Captain, you know there are certain requirements an organization should meet before you can say that, right?"
"And the flaming skulls meet all of them, sir. Yesterday, the city guard command has officially declared the flaming skulls as a terrorist organization.
We are collaborating with the Zeus Academy to catch them."
A document was passed over. The judge nodded. He turned to Sam and spoke.
"The flaming skulls is indeed a terrorist organization, employing them could be considered a crime against the Academy realm. What do you have to say for yourself?"
"They are not declared as the terrorist organization when I hired them. So, I believe I am not obligated to explain myself for that. In a way, it is the city guard's fault. How can they not let the city and the students know about the flaming skulls?
Were they trying to entrap me?"
"Don't flatter yourself, student. You are not worthy of us to entrap you with dirty schemes." The guard captain spoke.
Judge just gave him a glance and continued.
"You are indeed right, part of what you said at least. You cannot be considered to collaborate with a terrorist organization, if the organization hasn't been declared as such when you were collaborating.
But the case still lies if you knew that they are a terrorist organization, but still collaborated anyway, without reporting to the City guard.
After all, it is every student's responsibility to find any possible threats and bring it forward to the city guard.
So, unless the city guard can provide proper evidence that you know they are a terrorist organization before the declaration, then you cannot be charged for that."
"Thank you."
"Don't thank me yet. By defending against this claim, you actually admitted to hiring them. Does that mean, you are agreeing to whatever the city guard accused you of?"
The judge asked.
Everyone looked at Sam weirdly. Even the people that hated his guts looked at him with the same weird expression. They all knew that Sam is no way an idiot. There is no way, he could fall into such an amateurish trap.
Even the city guard didn't expect that.
Sam just smiled and said.
"There is nothing to deny. I am responsible for the deaths of every single person he presented in front of you."
"So, you are pleading guilty?"
The city guard captain asked even before the judge could. He is way too anxious. Things weren't going as he wanted. But they are not going in a negative direction either, instead they are going way too good for him.
He planned several things to make Sam look guilty. After all, he doesn't have any hard evidence against Sam.
Seeing that Sam is agreeing, he felt some warning bells ring.
"Of course, not. According to the rules of the Academy realm, only the weak are guilty. Everyone here in this room, knows that and agrees with it. So, as usual, I demand a trial by combat.
I will not be taking your punishment, however I will let the combat ability decide if I am worthy of that punishment or not."
The judge frowned, while the captain grinned. This is what he was looking for. In fact, he couldn't care less about any punishment the judge could give out.
"A trial by combat? Student Sam, it seems like the education of Gambler's Academy is not progressing well. Before cultivation they might need to teach simple math.
Do you know how many complaints you have against you? One hundreds and seventy three. You cannot escape it will one combat because they are not formed as a single bundle.
They are individual cases. If you want trial by combat, you need to fight them one by one."
The judge said.
Sam almost laughed out loud. This guy could have said anything, but he said that Sam's math is not good. Only Sam could understand the ridiculousness of that statement. Of course, it was sarcastic, but still…
"I am okay fighting, all of them at the same time. If they dare to do so that is."
Sam smiled and looked at the people who filed the complaints. They all froze for a second. Most of them belong to academy realm and they know Sam's competence all too well.
And many people know about the Pseudo hell's situation by now.
The things Sam did there…
No one wants to take such a risk. Even if there are one hundred and seventy members, they are still not confident about this.
But the captain with his very punch able face spoke with a wide grin.
"Sir, even if he is ready to take the trial by combat, he is not eligible for it. According to the special law of the Olympian region, a person who is determined as a threat to the stability of the Olympian region should be given punishment based on the severity of the disturbance.
They cannot opt for the trial by combat directly.
And Sam with his cases, is a great threat to the stability. Since he arrived in this realm, he repeatedly admitted that he wanted to cause trouble to the Olympian Academies. The first day he was here, he attacked the Zeus Academy students, he constantly targeted them.
There are many testimonies from the students and seniors that he was vocal about his intentions.
There was an incident, when he killed almost twenty students of various academies directly and vanished their bodies.
Only after we started investigating deeply, did we find that out.
Now he couldn't care less about the judiciary procedure about the case of Pseudo realm, he started taking revenge, that too on the students that never really got involved in the pseudo hell.
The Zeus Academy's student union has given testimony about how student Sam and his senior went directly, injured a student and spewed all kinds of threats. We need to consider him a serious threat and punish him according to the Olympian laws."
Dove stood up from her seat, her aura raging. She narrowed her eyes and looked at the city guard captain, who was a bit startled.
