Didn’t they say that thing would rebound attacks, and at multiple times the force? He had no intention of getting hurt; better let someone else go take a look first.
"Xiao Yi, take some men and go check out the situation first." He ordered Xiao Yi.
Xiao Yi had already known Yang Tianxiu would send him to handle it. He didn’t hesitate and answered directly.
"Yes, Master, I’ll go at once."
Of course, he wasn’t really going to rush up there and throw his life away. He’d test the waters first, and if it really didn’t work, then let the Master make a move. That thing had been talked up as so strange, maybe even the Master wouldn’t be able to deal with it.
He strode toward the door without the slightest hesitation.
After he left, though, Yang Tianxiu’s expression grew even heavier.
Nothing had gone smoothly lately; even Xiao Yi, whom he trusted the most, had been repeatedly failing, unable to catch a few rats hiding in the dark. It really disappointed him.
Whenever he thought of those people in the shadows, he wanted to stomp them to pieces and feed them to the dogs. At this point, he had no thought of recruiting them anymore.
Not only did they set their sights on him, trying to poison him to death, they also planned to trap all his people inside Rock City. Utterly ignorant of their place. Did they really think he hadn’t made any preparations?
"All of you, get out. Without an order from my true self, no one is allowed to come within half a step."
He gave an order to the empty air, and immediately felt the airflow around him shift in an obvious, abnormal way. The room door soon swung shut on its own, without a breeze.
Once he was sure everyone had left the room, he walked over to a row of bookshelves, reached into one of the compartments, moved all the books there aside, and opened the hidden compartment in the back. Inside was a switch device.
He twisted that switch hard, then put the books back exactly as they had been.
At that moment, a hidden door in the wall had already opened. After glancing back again to confirm no one was watching him, he stepped into the dark doorway, and the next second, the hidden door closed shut once more.

"Chief, are we really going to be trapped in Rock City, unable to get out?"
Xiao Yi had just come out of Yang Tianxiu’s courtyard when he saw several of his subordinates. Wearing worried faces, they came toward him, and one of them asked.
They had all already heard that Rock City was now covered by some unknown barrier, and no one could get out. Anyone who tried to attack that strange barrier ended up injuring themselves instead, and there was absolutely nothing they could do about the thing blocking their way out.
"Yeah, Chief, your subordinate heard the rumors outside are boiling over. They say the teams sent out to purchase supplies never made it out of the city at all."
Xiao Yi just lightly shook his head at their questions.
"Calm down for now, we’ll think of something. I’m going to take a look outside the city first—maybe we can figure out a way to resolve this." He still hadn’t seen that thing with his own eyes, so he wasn’t sure what it actually was.
But no matter what it was, the necessary arrangements still had to be made.
"Before we confirm what that thing is, He Shijiu, go gather all the Bloodthirsty Squad’s supplies in one place, especially the food. You know how to handle it, right?"
He singled out one of his subordinates and gave him a look that said, "You’re the sharpest one here."
If they really couldn’t get out, then the little stock of supplies they had would have to be used very carefully. Whatever else happened, he had to make sure, at the very least, that his Bloodthirsty Squad wouldn’t go hungry.
Or maybe he wouldn’t even be able to guarantee that—maybe he could only guarantee they didn’t starve to death.
As for everyone else, even the Master’s side, he wouldn’t be able to care.
