"Have you checked everywhere? Are you sure they’re missing?"
"Yes, chief, we’ve checked everywhere. They’re truly gone," the team leader replied firmly.
His subordinates had disappeared, a substantial number in one go, leaving him nearly without anyone. He was worried about how to manage from now on.

The chief knew this must be the work of those who set the fire.
