Chapter 3551: Medusa (17)
Chapter 3551: Medusa (17)
This bird was, after all, the first creature she had ever blessed. Because of her, Poseidon had taken his anger out on it.
The poor little thing was completely dazed.
Enveloped in Ning Shu’s barrier, that deathly sensation finally dissipated a bit.
The poor bird still didn’t understand what was happening. It didn’t understand why it had suddenly become so large, why its whole body was covered in fire, or why this powerful person wanted to kill it. In short, it was utterly bewildered.
Ning Shu tucked the bird away. Watching Poseidon catch up to her, she greeted him with a smile. “Hi there, we meet again.”
Poseidon’s smile didn’t reach his eyes, and a muscle in his face twitched. “You lied to me.”
Ning Shu asked in surprise, “What did I lie to you about?”
“You ran off without teaching me that trick.”
Poseidon held his trident, standing atop his golden chariot, radiating divine power.
Ning Shu looked incredulous. “Didn’t I already demonstrate it for you? Besides, you only said the divine punishment technique once and I learned it.”
Poseidon silently watched Ning Shu’s exaggerated performance. This irritating behavior of hers made him look like a complete fool.
How could he possibly memorize such a complex incantation after seeing it drawn once? Moreover, she hadn’t mentioned a single word about the key steps or what required special attention.
Oh, please!
Poseidon realized that once he actually caught this woman, no amount of punishment or cruel torture could ever vent the fury in his heart. It was a hatred that seeped into his very bones.
“Since you’ve walked into my trap, teach me now,” Poseidon said calmly.
He was so angry that he had actually reached a point of eerie calm.
“I won’t take advantage of you. Watch closely.” Ning Shu’s fingers moved rapidly as she drew. “Did you see it clearly?”
As a god, he possessed wisdom, memory, and comprehension far beyond a human’s. From a genetic standpoint, a god’s genes were superior.
They were smarter than ordinary humans, their bodies were stronger, and their lives were longer.
“I didn’t see it clearly. Draw it again,” Poseidon said calmly, quite different from his previously irritable self.
Ning Shu frowned, sensing something was wrong. She turned to run, but was blocked by someone who suddenly appeared.
The man sat in an exquisite chariot with an eagle perched on his shoulder.
He was handsome and filled with majesty.
“Great King!” Poseidon placed a hand over his heart and bowed slightly toward Zeus.
So, it was Zeus.
As the god of the sky, Zeus controlled the wind, rain, and all celestial phenomena. Thunderbolts and lightning were the means he used to express his will to humanity. He governed all affairs of the mortal world.
As the king of gods and men and the father of mortals, the divine power radiating from him made Poseidon seem lackluster by comparison.
Facing Zeus, Ning Shu felt as though she were facing the raw power of heaven and earth.
Especially since Zeus used lightning as a weapon.
One look at Zeus and Poseidon, and Ning Shu couldn’t help but recall the chaotic sexual history of this family.
Speaking of Greek mythology, one had to start with Zeus’s grandmother, Gaia, who was born from Chaos. She first underwent asexual reproduction to produce her first child: Uranus, the god of the sky.
Later, Gaia and Uranus got married. That was right—this mother and son pair got married. They also had many children—the twelve Titans, three Cyclopes, and three Hecatoncheires. Uranus thus leveled up to become Zeus’s grandfather.
After the marriage, Gaia promoted Uranus to be the king of the gods.
It was said that men changed after marriage. Gradually, Uranus became arrogant and grew increasingly disrespectful toward his mother-wife. Thus, Gaia decided to overthrow Uranus. She offered a great reward, the throne of the king of the gods, so her youngest son, Kronos, volunteered and sliced off his father’s manhood.
In other words, Zeus’s father cut off his own father’s junk to obtain the throne.
From the foam created by Zeus’s grandfather’s genitals splashing into the sea, Aphrodite—the Goddess of Love, also known as Venus—was born.
Ning Shu was speechless.
So that was how the goddess of love came to be. It was truly hard to look at her the same way.
As the third generation king of the gods, Zeus was a lecher by nature. Seeing Ning Shu wrapped in thin gauze with a beautiful face, his old habits kicked in. His eyes wouldn’t stop scanning her.
As he looked her over, he couldn’t help but stroke his chin. Ning Shu felt as if Zeus’s gaze were like an X-ray, piercing right through her.
To encounter two perverts… honestly…
Of the three brothers, the only one who wasn’t a lecher was the cold-natured Hades, who basically never appeared in the mortal world.
Even when he did appear, he brought death with him. He would bring souls to the underworld.
Given the gods’ reputation for debauchery, Ning Shu suspected she might be headed for a threesome.
Don’t doubt it. It was entirely possible.
“Is this the woman?” Zeus asked Poseidon.
“Great King, this is the woman. She is a human, yet she possesses strength and a power that can resist the gods. This is not a good thing,” Poseidon said directly.
However, he concealed the fact that Ning Shu could temporarily control the ocean. If Zeus knew that, it wouldn’t benefit him.
Poseidon wasn’t some muscle-brained idiot who knew nothing.
Ning Shu pursed her lips. Her expression grew serious. She feared Poseidon had notified his brother early on.
Zeus frowned with immense majesty as dark clouds gathered in the sky. Zeus said to Ning Shu, “Come with me to Mount Olympus. Where did your power come from?”
Ning Shu said calmly, “Great King, are you not known as the omniscient and all-knowing god? You should know where my power comes from. Actually, it’s quite easy to guess. My power was bestowed upon me by the sea god. Goddess Athena knows this as well. Poseidon, the sea god himself, said that my power was his gift.”
Zeus looked at Poseidon. What was going on?
Poseidon: I was just talking nonsense at the time…
“Her power was not bestowed,” Poseidon stated flatly.
Zeus spoke to Ning Shu with a majestic expression. “To Mount Olympus.”
Ning Shu knew that if she went to the sacred mountain, she would surely be subjected to a harsh interrogation.
As the king of the gods, Zeus was sometimes dictatorial and ruthless. Take his treatment of his cousin Prometheus, for example.
Prometheus stole fire for humanity and was punished by Zeus. He was taken to the Caucasus Mountains and bound to a steep cliff with an unbreakable iron chain.
Zeus ensured Prometheus could never sleep, and his exhausted knees could never bend. A diamond nail was even driven through his heaving chest.
He was forced to endure hunger, wind, and the scorching sun.
Furthermore, Zeus sent a divine eagle every day to peck at Prometheus’s liver, but the liver would grow back as soon as it was eaten.
