Chapter 3547: Medusa (13)
Chapter 3547: Medusa (13)
Athena unleashed her divine power, restoring her temple to its original state, though upon closer inspection, cracks and flaws still marred her massive golden statue.
The goddess pursed her lips tightly as she looked down at the ruined city of Athens.
“My dear believers,” she proclaimed in a voice that shook the heavens. “The reason Athens has fallen into such a state is that the priestess by my side obtained a powerful and evil force that destroyed our entire city.
“This wicked priestess is now a fugitive,” she continued. “Any hero or warrior who can bring me the head of this evil priestess shall receive the blessing and protection of a god.”
Athena’s voice echoed slowly over the entire city.
The grieving people were filled with fury. They vowed to slay that detestable, wicked priestess.
Athena swore that she would take Ning Shu’s head and embed it in the center of her shield.
While Athena was fuming with rage, Ning Shu was sprinting away with Poseidon in hot pursuit.
Poseidon glared at the back of her head, his teeth bared in frustration. He expended all his strength to surge forward, finally intercepting her.
Standing atop her spirit dragon, Ning Shu looked at the bloodshot eyes of the sea god.
“Why are you chasing me?” she asked. “It’s not like I’m holding a prize.”
Poseidon gazed at her beautiful face. “It doesn’t matter who you are. I don’t even care where you came from.”
‘I’m going to devour you and take your power for myself,’ he thought.
“Then why are you chasing me and coveting my beauty?” Ning Shu asked, putting her hands on her hips. She was exhausted and needed a moment to catch her breath.
To Poseidon, powerful strength was a much higher pursuit than lust. No matter how beautiful Ning Shu was, it couldn’t stop him from wanting to consume her. Besides, she was ‘fair enough to eat,’ so wouldn’t it be better just to swallow her?
Poseidon suddenly broke into a smile. “What if I said I admire you? What if I want to take you away and make you my queen?”
This woman was extremely vigilant and slippery. Since a frontal assault hadn’t worked, he had to try trickery. To obtain her power, even the simple-minded Poseidon had to start using his brain to coax her.
“Don’t you think we complement each other?” he added. “You can control the ocean, and so can I. We were born to be together.”
Ning Shu: -_-||
“Sea God, I recall you have quite a few women,” she remarked. “Aside from your wife, you have many lovers. You’ve even fallen for your own sisters.”
Poseidon seemed to treat his brother Zeus as a role model. The fact that he even pursued his own sisters was certainly something.
The entirety of Greek mythology was essentially a history of debauchery. It was impossible to imagine how messy and tangled those relationships truly were.
“So what do you mean?” The crimson in Poseidon’s eyes slowly faded back to normal. “Will you come with me? Are you upset because of my lovers? A woman shouldn’t be so jealous.”
Ning Shu: …
She really wanted to spit right in his face.
“Then tell me, what are the benefits of going with you?” Ning Shu asked with feigned curiosity. “First, your body doesn’t belong exclusively to me. Second, your heart doesn’t belong to me either. Third, you don’t even seem as strong as I am. Fourth, I don’t love you. So, what exactly am I gaining?”
He would get all the benefits while acting as if he were granting her a great gift. Was there something wrong with him?
“I am one of the big three of Mount Olympus. I am the ruler of the oceans and one of the twelve Olympians,” Poseidon said, attempting to use his status to lure her.
Ning Shu curled her lip. “Your titles hold no charm for me. So what if you’re one of the big three? You can’t even master the power of the ocean. I don’t see serving a god as some great honor.”
“If you follow me, I can grant you a divine rank and title,” Poseidon said. He was growing impatient. He felt he had offered enough benefits and sincerity. “You will become a goddess and receive the offerings and worship of humanity.”
As long as he could get this woman back to his sea palace, he would find a way to control her.
Ning Shu didn’t care about a divine rank or title in the slightest. Being a god or a human didn’t matter; what mattered was one’s own capability and strength. If Poseidon were strong enough to handle her right now, he wouldn’t be babbling all this nonsense.
She felt that this brawny man actually had a calculating side beneath his rough exterior. He must have some ulterior motive to be saying ‘I love you’ and I’ll take you away’ with zero actual sincerity.
He was definitely coveting her water ordinance power. His eyes were practically red with envy.
You love me? Love my foot.
There was no love or hate without a reason.
Furthermore, Poseidon had a massive beard. If those words had come from the handsome sun god, Apollo, they might have been a bit more mesmerizing.
His ‘attractiveness score’ just wasn’t high enough!
Ning Shu’s heart remained unmoved. In fact, she almost wanted to laugh. Saying ‘I love you’ didn’t make it true.
“What exactly do you mean?” Poseidon asked, suppressing his irritation. He vaguely felt like he was being played.
Ning Shu spread her hands. “I don’t mean anything. You tried to rape me earlier, so I have to make you pay a price.”
She channeled the energy in her internal core to form a dagger.
Ning Shu gripped the dagger and lunged at him. Poseidon immediately grabbed her wrist, pinning her down.
“I’ve tried to talk sense into you, but you just won’t listen, will you?” Poseidon said while squeezing her wrist tightly.
Ning Shu’s other hand was hidden behind her back. She opened her palm, and another energy dagger appeared.
She gave a faint smile and spoke in a voice as soft as an orchid’s fragrance. “You think you’re such a treasure, but in my heart…”
“What am I in your heart? I am the son of the king of the gods! I am the sea god! I am—” Poseidon kept emphasizing his status, but in that split second, Ning Shu drove the dagger three inches below his belt.
Her movement was incredibly fast. She plunged the blade directly into his unmentionable area before quickly leaping back. The energy dagger dissolved into raw power that surged into Poseidon’s body.
The energy rampaged through the wound. Poseidon stood there, stunned as a wooden chicken. When he finally snapped out of it, he immediately began to repair his divine body.
However, having been injured in such a sensitive spot, his expression twisted with agony.
“How dare you! How dare you harm a god! In the name of a god, I curse you to become the smallest fish in the sea, never to leave the ocean for all eternity!”
Following Athena’s lead, Poseidon also placed a curse on Ning Shu.
The power of the curse tore at her body, trying to transform her into a tiny fish that could never leave the sea.
However, after the power of the curse circulated through her body once, it drifted back out and surged toward Poseidon, backfiring on the caster.
Poseidon let out a muffled groan as he dealt with the backlash. He stared at Ning Shu with bloodshot eyes, and a massive wave of divine majesty erupted from him.
