Chapter 3031: Claimed They Were in a Relationship

Li Bing adamantly denied the rape, even though his guilty expression was evident to anyone paying attention.

He insisted that Ning Shu seduced him and claimed they were in a relationship.

If my girlfriend seduced me, why should I resist?

Later, the police placed the DNA results in front of Li Bing. “This is concrete evidence: your bodily fluids were found in the victim.”

“I did have relations with Wang Ying, so of course my DNA would be present. I already told you, we’re in a consensual relationship! I didn’t rape her. She’s just trying to extort me. I’m innocent! I’m being wrongly accused!” Li Bing began wailing as if he were the victim.

“And this surveillance footage? Take a good look.” The officer pushed a computer in front of Li Bing and hit play.

The footage was low resolution. It was footage from the supermarket’s surveillance camera.

It showed a woman entering a small storage room. Shortly after, a man approached the room, glanced around nervously, and then entered.

The video captured Li Bing’s face. “That’s you, isn’t it?” the officer asked.

Sweat streamed down Li Bing’s face as he stammered, “I—I just wanted to spend some intimate time with my girlfriend.”

Li Bing worked as a manual laborer unloading goods at supermarkets. He took on jobs as they came, spending much of his time idle at home when there was no work.

“The victim has accused you of rape. Whether you resolve this privately or take it to court is up to the two of you to discuss,” the officer stated.

“If the victim agrees to change her testimony and admits you’re in a relationship, you can resolve this privately. However, if she insists on pressing charges, you could face jail time.”

The mention of prison turned Li Bing’s face ashen. “I could go to jail?”

In his mind, jail was reserved for murderers. He didn’t even do anything, why would he have to go to jail?

Li Bing was temporarily detained, but how the case would progress remained to be seen.

Li Bing was on the verge of panic, but he consoled himself, thinking Wang Ying wouldn’t dare escalate the matter further. In a few days, this would blow over, and he’d be released.

“Do you want to settle this privately?” the female officer asked Ning Shu, offering her a cup of water.

Ning Shu gripped the paper cup, lowered her head, and said firmly, “I absolutely will not settle privately. This isn’t my fault!”

Why should the victim bear all the consequences while the perpetrator walks away unscathed just because she’s a woman?

Ning Shu wasn’t afraid of rumors or verbal abuse. Let them gossip. She dared anyone to try and harm her physically.

She would never compromise with a rapist.

“I will not settle privately,” she repeated.

According to the law, rape through violence, threats, or other means carried a prison sentence of three to ten years.

Meanwhile, Li Bing continued to deny the crime, insisting Wang Ying was his girlfriend and their relationship was consensual.

“I’ll drive you home,” the female officer said.

Ning Shu thanked her profusely. “Thank you so much.”

“I noticed your family isn’t very supportive. I’ll go with you to intimidate your parents a bit.”

“Sometimes, it’s hard to believe we live in a modern society. I once handled a case where a village tried to drown a woman. Luckily, we arrived in time to prevent a tragedy.”

Ning Shu: …
