Chapter 2205: Chapter 2113: The Consort Is Angry, and the Consequences Are Severe (2)
Noble Consort Qi nearly broke her fingernail guard, "His Majesty has never cared for the women of the Imperial Harem, yet this time, he brought one back himself and even had a palace renovated for her. It seems this woman is not ordinary."
Senior Palace Maid Hong Shan presented the tea, "No matter how exceptional, what is she but a mere Jianghu woman, incomparable to Your Grace’s noble status."
With her hand adorned with fingernail guards, Noble Consort Qi caressed her exquisite hair bun, "Jianghu woman? As long as His Majesty favors her, he can elevate her status, Snowflake Palace, huh..."
Thinking of this, a trace of jealousy and resentment flashed in her eyes. Snowflake Palace is closest to the Imperial Study Room and Panlong Hall; His Majesty only needs to take a few steps to reach it.
When she first entered the palace, she wanted to live in Snowflake Palace, but was personally rejected by His Majesty, causing her to lose face among the concubines.
It had always been a sore point.
Later, upon realizing that no one could live in Snowflake Palace, she felt somewhat appeased, yet now, another woman lives there!
The unease rose again in her heart.
Hong Shan, adept at reading moods, noticed Noble Consort Qi’s displeasure and also showed a slight anger, "Who knows what His Majesty is thinking, how could a mere Jianghu brute compare to the Noble Consort’s grace and beauty, like a fairy? I think His Majesty is just temporarily intrigued, that’s why he brought her back.
Those Jianghu women are rough and uncultured, and surely His Majesty will soon grow tired of her. Eventually, Snowflake Palace might become the Cold Palace."
Noble Consort Qi picked up the tea, lightly tapping the cup with the lid, "Snowflake Palace is nothing, she can live there as she pleases, it’s the Fengluan Hall that concerns me..."
This is what worries her the most, suddenly bringing back a woman and renovating Fengluan Hall, the connection here... is truly disconcerting.
She, Noble Consort Qi, had ruled The Six Palaces for many years and was considered by everyone as akin to the Empress. Now, if a woman were to come and compete for power...
A flash of murderous intent appeared in her eyes.
Hong Shan sneered, "Noble Consort needn’t worry, how could a lowly Jianghu woman, coarse and vulgar, ever hope to become Empress?
If His Majesty truly intended to make her Empress, he would have directly moved her into Fengluan Hall, why go through the trouble of renovating Snowflake Palace for her.
Boldly, perhaps the renovations in Fengluan Hall signify an intent to establish an Empress, but it is certainly not her.
Did not the Empress Dowager express a desire a while ago to make Your Grace the Empress? Perhaps..."
At this point, Hong Shan stopped speaking and knelt on the ground, "Congratulations, Your Grace."
Such flattery greatly improved Noble Consort Qi’s previously troubled mood.
Indeed, even if His Majesty favored that woman, she is merely a Jianghu woman with no background. How could such an identity befit the Empress!
If anyone is fit to be Empress, it is none other than her!
Sipping her tea, she asked, "Did His Majesty choose any concubine to accompany him tonight?"
Hong Shan chuckled lightly, "Returning to the Noble Consort, Xiao Xuzi has already inquired, and His Majesty has been discussing state affairs with the ministers in the Imperial Study Room since returning today, and has not yet gone to bed."
The implication being, no concubine was chosen, nor did he seek out the one in Snowflake Palace.
Noble Consort Qi smiled, "His Majesty is busy with state affairs, send a bowl of lotus seed soup over."
"Your Grace, every time you send something, it gets returned, why bother..."
"Whether it’s returned or not is one matter, whether I send it or not is another, go on."
Some things are done for others to see, especially for the Empress Dowager.
There is no need for an actual result.
