Chapter 2149: Chapter 1250: The Most Beautiful First Encounter (Part 1)
In the distance, thunder rumbled as violet and white lightning connected the sky and earth, with oppressive black clouds looming over the nearby forest, resembling a giant claw descending from the heavens.
This forest was located at the border of the Great Xia Kingdom, home to many wild beasts and seldom visited by humans.
At this moment, the torrential rain was imminent, making it a hundred miles of uninhabited land.
Rumble—
Another round of lightning and thunder.
Amidst this storm-bound environment, a young girl in white dashed forward, carrying a medicine basket on her back.
The girl’s appearance was stunning, with a small, palm-sized face carrying a hint of innocence, appearing to be around fourteen or fifteen years old.
Her skin, smooth and untouched by makeup, resembled a fresh lotus blossoming in clear water.
Delicate brows and eyes, a petite nose, and cherry-red lips as pink as roses after the rain exuded a sweet and mesmerizing allure.
Her attire was simple—a white gauze dress devoid of any patterns, and a hand-wide belt cinched her slender waist, making it barely graspable.
Her hair was tied high, with a long ponytail swaying along with her running, adding an extra touch of youth and vigor.
Xia Weibao was now sixteen, having just reached adulthood according to the age system of the Great Xia Kingdom.
As the thunderclaps grew more frequent and the humidity in the air intensified, it seemed that the torrential rain was bound to arrive any second.
She quickened her pace.
This area, perhaps cursed, was bizarrely prone to lightning strikes.
Recently, a rainstorm had struck down two boars, three sheep, four rabbits, and five chickens.
Those carcasses still hung from her doorstep as salted meats.
If she couldn’t make it home before the rain, she would likely be struck terribly.
While she was sprinting ahead, a shadow suddenly descended in front of her.
Having roamed Jianghu for years, where assassinations were all too common, Miss Xia’s first reaction was: Damn, it’s an ambush!
Her body halted abruptly from its wild charge, reflexively stretching out a long leg, and with a "bang," kicked the descending figure flying!
The man, caught off guard by the kick, flew up and crashed hard against the trunk of the opposite tree, then fell to the ground motionless.
Xia Weibao twitched at the corner of her eye, really? Did he just drop dead like that?
As a girl roaming Jianghu for so long, encountering robbery and assault many times, this was the first time seeing someone so incompetent.
The man lay on the ground, seemingly unconscious.
She frowned, observing his attire—it seemed to be a man.
Slightly hesitating, she walked a few steps forward, stood behind the man, lifted her leg, and nudged him, "Are you dead?"
The man remained motionless.
The air was thick with the scent of blood; upon closer inspection, Xia Weibao discovered he had multiple injuries.
Her delicate brows furrowed; he was gravely injured, and her kick had only exacerbated his condition.
Wondering if she should lend him a hand, an astonishing bolt of lightning struck a nearby tree, splitting it in half!
Xia Weibao shuddered; it’s going to rain!
The man was already unconscious; if she took him along, she certainly wouldn’t make it home before the storm hit, possibly getting struck down by lightning at any moment!
Though a healer’s heart is filled with compassion, she had no obligation to risk herself for a stranger, right?
Hence, Xia Weibao directly stepped over the man, intending to leave.
However, she unintentionally caught sight of the man’s side profile as he lay on the ground.
With one breathtaking glance, Xia Weibao’s breath halted.
In all her years of roaming Jianghu, she had never seen such a handsome man!
Indeed, saving a life is more meritorious than building a seven-tier pagoda! As a divine healer, how could she stand by and do nothing?
