Pioneer Lord: I Have Conquering System

Chapter 536: Subduing Beasts with Virtue

Chapter 536 -346: Subduing Beasts with Virtue

A minor war failed to cause even a ripple in High Cliff Castle. To its people, their Lord winning a war was perfectly normal; they would have been astonished if he’d actually lost.

However, what did capture their attention was the bustling reconstruction that had begun in High Cliff Castle.

The brick kilns by the Bengyong River billowed thick smoke day and night as pile after pile of red bricks was continuously fired.

The settlers worked tirelessly digging in the clay pits, while the Giants grunted and groaned, straining to drag carts across the snow.

“I’ve decided to build the castle on the hill. In the future, it will house the leaders of High Cliff Castle.” The Lord, wearing a white-painted wooden safety helmet, stood inside a temporary tent surrounded by red bricks, tapping a blueprint on the table before him with a quill.

A group of Feder Craftsmen stood ramrod straight, like a congregation of lost believers listening to a sermon.

It was no wonder they acted this way. If any other layman had dared to instruct them—a group of craftsmen who had spent their entire lives building houses—they would have drowned him in spit alone.

But they couldn’t help but admire their Lord. Some of his ideas were unprecedented, yet when applied to construction, they were a perfect, almost unimaginable, fit.

They were beginning to suspect their Lord had been a master craftsman in a past life and had brought all his experience with him.

Levi hadn’t been a master craftsman in his past life, just an overworked civil engineer. Thus, drawing blueprints and planning buildings was as easy for him as breathing.

If not for this world’s temporary inability to generate electricity and source certain materials, he would have definitely built a modern structure complete with neon lights just to shock the people of this Otherworld.

“The drainage for this castle is the absolute top priority. We need to plan a network of properly routed sewer tunnels underneath,” Levi explained in detail to the old craftsmen.

In reality, these old men were only a hair’s breadth away from understanding many of these concepts. They just needed someone to connect the dots for them. As long as he explained it clearly, building the castle he envisioned wouldn’t be difficult at all.

“Then, using the hill as the center, we’ll build outward in a square. The first ring, closest to the hill, will be the Settler Area. It would be best to build enough red brick houses there to accommodate a hundred thousand people. The eastern section of the second ring will be the commercial district, allowing visiting merchants to stay and trade their goods. The southern section will be a public square, which we can use for important announcements in the future. And the western section will become the Mamluk District, specifically for the slaves to live in.”

As Levi gestured on the blueprint, the old men nodded repeatedly. They noticed that everything their Lord planned was square and orderly. The houses were arranged in neat, dense rows, and even the roads were long and perfectly straight.

As a true descendant of Huaxia, Levi had an obsession with square, orderly layouts that the people of this Otherworld could scarcely comprehend.

The entirety of High Cliff Castle was being built according to the designs of ancient cities from his previous life. After all, it was five thousand years of ancestral Wisdom—he could just copy it directly. It was practically flawless.

The only change necessary was that the city walls had to be built much taller and thicker. Levi had originally wanted Buji to build them with vines, but unfortunately, he only had a single Magic Plant Seed. Taking that shortcut wouldn’t be possible anytime soon.

“I plan to build the military barracks around the vines of the Dragon’s Nest…”

“Brother-in-law! Someone from Gonda City is here! General Mandela brought the five hundred Griffins he promised!” A bare-chested Mier, buffeted by wind and snow, ducked into the tent and ran breathlessly up to his brother-in-law.

He had clearly been in the middle of sword practice before he’d rushed over.

“Worri, they’re finally here. I’ve been waiting since I was a bachelor, and now I’m a married man. Any later and my son would’ve been born by now.” Levi took off his safety helmet and placed it on the head of a nearby Giant Goblin, making sure to give some final instructions. “I’ve already gone over all this with Leiden. If there’s anything you don’t understand, ask him.”

With that said, he headed toward the distant hill.

…

As soon as they arrived at High Cliff Castle, several Griffin Knights stared, dumbfounded, at the colossal Dragon’s Nest rising in the distance, so tall it pierced the clouds. Not even Gonda City had such a magnificent spectacle. They never imagined a small fiefdom in the Wilderness would possess something so grand.

In their shock, they also grew curious about whether there was actually a dragon in the nest. They quickly mounted their Griffins and flew toward it. However, when they were still several miles away, the Griffins beneath them stubbornly refused to go a single step further.

As companions raised together from birth, the knights could keenly feel their mounts’ terror. They stopped trying to force them and could only turn back toward High Cliff Castle, their hearts filled with awe.

Besides a Giant Dragon, there were few creatures capable of frightening Griffins, which were Magical Creatures themselves.

The Lord of High Cliff Castle was truly a genuine Dragon Knight!

It was now well into December, and the weather in the Wilderness grew even colder. The people of High Cliff Castle were all bundled up in thick woolen coats and snow boots.

However, the weather only affected ordinary people.

As an Epic Level individual, General Mandela still wore the same old Fine Leather Armor that left his arms bare. The only difference was that the man-high Blood Sword on his back was now only half its original length.

“To what do I owe the honor of a general from Debei personally making a delivery to my humble, rural corner of the world?” The Lord plopped down across from Mandela, tossing him an apple he had swiped from that lummox, Zat, on the way over.

Several Griffin Knights excitedly sized up this great figure whose fame resounded throughout Debei. This was the first time they had ever been so close to the Knight they idolized.
