Chapter 2523: Chapter 2520: An Unforgettable Wedding Night
One of life’s greatest joys is the wedding night.
Lu Sangqi finally managed to escape from the banquet, and upon his return, he lifted the red veil from Huo Ning, and they drank their wedding toasts.
Seeing the usually cool Huo Ning’s face flushed and her eyes more dazed than usual, making her all the more beautiful, he couldn’t help but feel heated all over.
He was impatient to pounce on her immediately.
But Huo Ning still had a shred of sanity, reached out to push him away, and went to get the golden box by the bed.
“Sister Ye said we must look at this first.” Huo Ning was evidently a lightweight, slightly drunk from just one cup of the wedding wine.
Though clearly, the wine had been tampered with.
Lu Sangqi realized it was high-proof alcohol when he tasted its extra spiciness; no wonder Huo Ning got drunk so quickly.
Lu Sangqi had never seen her like this when drunk — obedient yet with a different charm, quite a contrast to her usual coolness, making him swallow repeatedly.
He also knew that Huo Ning was behind the trick, so he just went along with it, not exposing her little scheme.
“You listen to Sister, but what about me?” Lu Sangqi snorted lightly, jealous.
“Both, … listen to both.” Huo Ning, slightly tipsy, persistently opened the box.
Inside, unexpectedly, were blueprints.
“Look, here.” Huo Ning, completely blurred, handed the items to Lu Sangqi despite barely seeing anything.
Lu Sangqi picked it up reluctantly, but when he saw the content clearly, he almost couldn’t keep cool.
Especially the realistic character illustrations, much more lifelike than anything he’d seen, far superior to faceless ones.
“Indeed, my dear sister.” Lu Sangqi grit his teeth.
Huo Ning cuddled against him, humming faintly.
Lu Sangqi, like a cat whose tail was stepped on, furiously tossed the booklet under the bed.
But after tossing it, he regretted it, sulkily bent to retrieve it.
Then he tore it all up, threw it into the fire basin, and only when it burned to ashes was he satisfied.
With all that fuss, Huo Ning had already collapsed onto the bed, falling asleep in a daze.
Lu Sangqi stood beside the bed, nearly calling out his former self for a scolding, thinking how his own foolishness now landed him in trouble.
Indeed, love renders one bewildered; it’s not a matter for outsiders to meddle with — he shouldn’t have interfered!
Lu Sangqi resigned to carrying Huo Ning to the bathroom, tidied themselves up, and reluctantly completed the wedding night.
Yet this memory was deeply etched.
So much so that later when Ye Muyu arranged to send many good things to Huo Ning, he still hadn’t forgiven her!
“Looks like someone’s been teased and angered now.” Chu Heng remarked helplessly.
Ye Muyu, however, was in good spirits, casually picked a grape, feeding one to Chu Heng and eating one herself.
“He’s not very resilient, being so petty; it’s lucky he managed to win Huo Ning.” Ye Muyu sighed softly.
“Oh, you.” Chu Heng tapped her nose: “You’re capricious, knowing Lu Sangqi wouldn’t dare retaliate against you, right.”
“Not at all, I’m genuinely upset. They don’t believe in you— doesn’t that make you angry too?” Ye Muyu, feeling a bit guilty, couldn’t help doubting whether she’d gone too far with her teasing.
“Not angry. Seeing you care about me so much, what is there to be upset about, I’m overjoyed.” Chu Heng replied sincerely.
