Chapter 1760: Contact, Hug, Next Time I’ll Go With You (2)
Realizing something was amiss, but unwilling to let go.
Hesitant, she slightly tightened her grip.
Jiang Ruan took a deep breath, her face growing even hotter.
The roaring engine couldn’t mask her wildly pounding heart, each beat like a drum pounding in her eardrums. Her breathing was too rapid, not helped by the motorcycle gear, which wasn’t very breathable, originally because of the cool autumn weather, worrying about catching a chill.
But now, the heat surrounding her filled her clothes and body, unable to dissipate, enveloped inside, even making her back break into a slight sweat.
...
Qi Lie was utterly stunned watching the motorcycle roar past his car.
He had thought those two might stage a big scene then and there, considering Yan Chi’s old-school nature, yet how did he end up riding off with her?
Seeing the spectacle slip from in front of him, Qi Lie couldn’t quite chase after them, so he returned home in frustration.
Jiang Ruan, that girl is really something, racing with Third Master Fu’s little brother-in-law?
If this gets out, it would be explosive news, wouldn’t it?
**
The motorcycle stopped below an apartment building. Jiang Ruan took out a garage key. The automatic door rose, and she rode the bike inside. Yan Chi got off first, lifted his hand to remove his helmet. His hair was quite short, not styled, just a bit flattened by the helmet, which he casually ruffled.
Compared to his usual demeanor, he seemed a bit more reckless and carefree.
Jiang Ruan was still calming her heartbeat, her mind chaotic. She felt embarrassed at being caught by Yan Chi and concerned about the intimacy of their ride. Once she calmed down, she began to worry if Yan Chi could accept this side of her.
Panicked and at a loss.
Jiang Ruan always thought she was a pretty carefree person, but facing him, she was always overthinking, hesitant, nothing like herself.
"I’m here now." Jiang Ruan still wore her helmet, the tone clearly issuing a dismissal.
"I’m leaving, and you’re still wearing your helmet, not saying goodbye face-to-face?" Yan Chi placed his helmet on the seat, looking at Jiang Ruan.
Jiang Ruan knew her face was too hot at the moment, likely very red, making it difficult to face him, but talking this way was indeed impolite. She raised her hand to remove her helmet.
Air rushed in from all directions, breathing became easier, but her heart still pounded wildly. Her face flushed, the breath she exhaled seemed to let out a slight white mist.
She felt hot and restless wearing the helmet. Now, her hair looked somewhat disheveled, a strand of hair sticking to her forehead, damp with heat. She fiddled with it absentmindedly but couldn’t smooth it out without a mirror.
Yan Chi reached out, and Jiang Ruan instinctively shrank her neck to avoid him upon realizing his movement.
"Don’t move."
This man always spoke with a hint of authority, and Jiang Ruan, with her little braid caught by him, dared not move frivolously, allowing his hand to pass through her hair. Maybe from wearing the helmet for too long her hair retained some warmth, but his fingers were slightly cool, which inevitably triggered a shiver and tension in her.
"Did I pull your hair?"
"No."
Yan Chi helped her smooth her hair, bent slightly to lower his body, aligning his sight with hers. Seeing her awkward expression, he couldn’t help but laugh.
Jiang Ruan had just steadied her breathing when this sudden proximity, accompanied by such a beautiful smile towards her, softened her heart, making it collapse a little.
"Nervous?"
Jiang Ruan nodded seriously, looking extremely obedient.
"Afraid I’ll tell your family about this?"
"Hmm."
"Afraid they’ll be angry?"
Jiang Ruan didn’t respond. Isn’t this just stating the obvious? No parents would agree to their daughter doing this.
"Are you afraid I’ll be angry?" he asked her softly. This was probably the most docile she’d ever been.
The young girl looked bewildered, lips pressed tight, her gaze at him innocent and naive.
"Also afraid," Jiang Ruan answered.
Her response seemed to greatly please him, as a slight smile appeared on his lips. However, Jiang Ruan was so nervous her palms were heated, and she even felt her consciousness beginning to drift.
"Ruan Ruan..."
"Hmm?"
"You care about me."
He smiled gently, but Jiang Ruan’s glance flickered, nearing suffocation. She was going crazy with nerves. What was he thinking, still in the mood to tease and make her happy?
Jiang Ruan’s mind was in turmoil, nervous and shy, thinking about that Mid-Autumn night, feeling a bit annoyed.
If Yan Chi wanted to tell her family, there was nothing she could do about it. Things were already like this anyway!
With emotions mixed in, her little face was flushed with anger. As she looked up to confront him, "Do whatever you want."
