Chapter 143 - You Could Always Live Independently

Chapter 143: You Could Always Live Independently

Ji Yang snorted lightly. “I’m sick of this excuse. Use another one the next time.”

Mu Siyin nodded her head dramatically. “Alright!”

Ji Yang was speechless.

Mu Siyin took a seat opposite her friend. As she placed down her bag, she looked up at Ji Yang. “How was work today?”

Ji Yang sighed softly. “How well can it go? It’s still the same!”

Ji Yang could only hope for her leader to show mercy and transfer her back to her original post. She was really sick of cracking down on prostitution.

“Okay. I guess it’s better this way too,” Mu Siyin said instinctively.

Annoyed, Ji Yang looked at her. “Hey, Yinyin! Can you stop joking around?”

Mu Siyin smiled sheepishly. “Don’t get mad. I honestly think it’s a great job. At least it won’t put you in any danger.”

Ji Yang rolled her eyes at Mu Siyin. “I’m a criminal investigation police. Do you think I’m afraid of danger?”

Mu Siyin whispered, “Can’t I fear for your safety?”

Ji Yang kept quiet.

“Why is it taking so long? I’m starving.” Mu Siyin raised her glass and took two sips of water.

What else could Ji Yang say?

At least she had seen through her friend that night. The latter obviously wanted Ji Yang to be on the anti-prostitution squad until the day she retires.

Should she laugh or cry?

“What about you? How has work been for the past two days?”

Mu Siyin pouted and ridiculed, “My stepfather, step-grandma, stepmother, and stepsister instructed my boss not to put me to use. They wanted to put me in a difficult position.”

Anger plastered on Ji Yang’s face as she slammed her hand on the table. “That’s too much of them! How could they?”

Mu Siyin scoffed. “They have always been like that.”

Sometimes, Mu Siyin thought about it and pitied herself. Nobody in the Mu family treated her genuinely. All they could think about was the shares in her hands. Every single second, they were scheming her like a chess piece!

Ji Yang furrowed her brows tightly as she looked at Mu Siyin and raged. “It’s one thing if it’s someone else, but how could your dad do something like that to you? I wonder if you’re really his daughter!”

“Mu Xingyu is his biological daughter.”

Mu Siyin’s surprising comment immediately stunned the angry Ji Yang.

Looking at how shocked Ji Yang was, Mu Siyin sneered. “I only found out recently that he’s unworthy to be my father.”

Mu Xingyu was three years older than her. This showed that Mu Heyuan had cheated on Mu Siyin’s mother a long time ago!

It was her mother’s passing that had coincidentally provided Li Tongzhi and Mu Xingyu the perfect opportunity to enter the family.

Ji Yang shook her head in disbelief. “No wonder they favor Mu Xingyu so much.”

Mu Siyin drooped her eyelids to hide the deep-seated hatred in her eyes. She said in a deep voice, “I can only blame myself for being stupid. I should’ve realized this earlier.”

She probably would never find out about the ironic truth if she had not lost her life.

“They’re evil!” Ji Yang gritted her teeth.

Mu Siyin smiled, unbothered. “It’s fine. I’m used to it anyway.”

“You could always live independently, Yinyin. Why do you insist on living with them? If you ask me, I think you should go to Country Xia. Do you need any help?”

Mu Siyin shook her head lightly. “Not now.” There were still a lot of things she had to do.

Ji Yang sighed softly. “Okay, then. I’m not sure if your stubbornness is a good or a bad thing.”

Mu Siyin hung her head low as she pondered for a while. Suddenly, she looked up and gazed at Ji Yang, probing, “Yangyang… Do you know what happened before and after my sister’s accident?”

Ji Yang looked at Mu Siyin weirdly when she mentioned Mu Siyun. “It’s been such a long time, Yinyin. Why are you asking about her today?”
