Chapter 796: Invitation
Mr. Bai probably never expected that his showdown and purge would ultimately devolve into utter chaos.
His own family and friends—including his son and siblings—started with arguments and accusations before it erupted into a full-blown brawl.
The company executives who rushed over merely pretended to break up the fight, with some even seizing the opportunity to land a few cheap shots.
This was especially true for the managers who had just been publicly fired, ordered to return their illicit gains by a deadline or face him in court. When they saw an opening, their attacks were swift and ruthless.
The scene was utter chaos, and Mr. Bai was beaten until he was howling in pain.
If Yu Beihua and the others hadn’t realized how bad the situation was and promptly called both the police and hospital security, Mr. Bai might have gone from feigning dementia to suffering from it for real.
Even though security arrived promptly, amidst the chaos, the very man they were trying to protect was still beaten black and blue, his face swollen beyond recognition.
Fortunately, an examination by Yan Feifan revealed that his injuries were only superficial. His brain had suffered a mild concussion, but there was no serious damage…
Just as Yan Feifan finished dealing with Mr. Bai’s situation and was about to head home from work, he received a visit from Ouyang Yanran of Baiyulan Group.
These days, in addition to managing the surgical robot business that had been spun off from the group, Ouyang Yanran was also in charge of all of Baiyulan Group’s sales operations in Binhai.
“Yanran, I hear you’re highly regarded at the group now, and that your power and responsibilities have increased significantly.”
Ouyang Yanran smiled faintly. “It’s all thanks to the good fortune you’ve brought me, Feifan. I have you to thank.”
As she spoke, she even gave a playful, formal curtsy to Yan Feifan, like a lady from ancient times.
Yan Feifan couldn’t help but chuckle and quickly invited Ouyang Yanran to have a seat on the sofa in the reception area.
After sitting down, Ouyang Yanran said earnestly, “Feifan, I’m being completely sincere with my thanks.”
“The group invested a fortune into the robotics project, but for the longest time, there was no clear path to production or monetization.”
“Now, even though it’s become part of a joint venture, the fact that a production schedule is set for two years from now has given our group’s stock price a massive boost.”
“On top of that, sales for the infusion controllers that the group distributes are absolutely booming.”
“These tangible results and achievements have naturally elevated my position within the company.”
Yan Feifan smiled, and Ouyang Yanran continued, “I just came from Extraordinary Medical Technology. Our company’s technicians were there installing and calibrating a new model of a high-precision brain activity monitor.”
“I took the opportunity to get tested and received a Sleep Promotion Device.”
“My sleep hasn’t been very good either, Feifan.”
Yan Feifan chuckled. “It doesn’t matter if you’re a man or a woman. Anyone who’s career-driven is under a lot of pressure and is bound to have some sleep problems.”
Ouyang Yanran accepted the cup of tea that Duan Yu brought over, thanking him politely.
She set down her teacup and said abruptly, “Feifan, that Liao Ziqiang hasn’t stopped recruiting people. He probably hasn’t given up on trying to copy the infusion controller.”
Yan Feifan just said, “Oh,” and remarked nonchalantly, “Even if we stop the Liao Family, someone else will just jump in to take their place.”
“These days, it’s getting harder and harder to monopolize a market.”
“Having competitors keeps us on our toes and can actually help the company grow stronger.”
Ouyang Yanran said with a hint of surprise, “I didn’t expect you to be so open-minded about it, Feifan. You have a very clear perspective.”
Yan Feifan replied modestly, “You’re giving me too much credit, Yanran. It’s easy for me to say, since I’m not the one doing the work.”
“After all, I’m not involved in the day-to-day business operations.”
Ouyang Yanran chuckled. “With you behind the company, constantly supplying it with high-tech medical products, its future development is secure.”
“Your magnanimity comes from your confidence!”
After a two-second pause, Ouyang Yanran added slowly, “I saw that Liao Ziqiang once last week at a business reception. He looked presentable enough.”
“A playboy who’s used to a life of leisure can suddenly become mature and driven, but turning into a top business elite doesn’t happen overnight.”
“Competition from him, especially in a field where we have the advantage, is nothing to be afraid of.”
“It’s just…”
Ouyang Yanran warned, “Feifan, you could say his transformation was because of you.”
“I’m a little worried that if things don’t go his way, a guy like him could easily become obsessive and even resort to extreme, irrational measures.”
Yan Feifan chuckled dryly. “If he goes crazy, then he’s not far from his own doom.”
“Well, as long as you’re aware of the risk.”
Ouyang Yanran took a sip of her tea and remarked casually, “The Binhai Government has established a medical industrial park and introduced numerous policies to heavily promote the development of its various medical industries.”
“For Baiyulan Group, which is rooted here in Binhai, this is a massive opportunity to take our development to the next level.”
“We at Baiyulan Group have pharmaceuticals, various medical devices, and supplies… but we’re missing one key component.”
“Our own hospital!”
Hearing this, Yan Feifan couldn’t help but ask, “Are you planning to build your own hospital?”
Ouyang Yanran nodded. “Actually, we at Baiyulan have always wanted to build our own hospital. We just never had the right opportunity.”
“This medical industrial park…”
Yan Feifan interrupted, “Yanran, several hospitals are suddenly clustering in the Binhai suburbs. Have you considered where all the patients are going to come from?”
Ouyang Yanran smiled. “This medical park definitely can’t be sustained by Binhai’s twenty or thirty million residents alone.”
“However, the Binhai Government’s goal is for it to serve the entire nation, and even the world.”
“Once the clustering effect takes hold, it should be possible for every hospital to have more than enough patients.”
Yan Feifan pursed his lips and shot back, “Sounds lovely in theory. I’m just afraid when the time comes, some will starve while others are stuffed to bursting.”
Ouyang Yanran gave a faint smile. “Feifan, what you’re describing is a possible outcome.”
“However, there is one thing I am certain of…”
“…any hospital that has you, Feifan, will at the very least be feasting until its belly is round.”
After a pause, Ouyang Yanran’s expression turned serious. “Feifan, on behalf of Baiyulan Group, I am formally inviting you to join our Baiyulan Hospital, which we will soon officially begin to establish.”
Yan Feifan was stunned. He asked, just to be sure, “Invite me? To join your Baiyulan Hospital?”
“Yes! Feifan, you heard me right!”
Ouyang Yanran said in a deep, earnest voice, “Feifan, in our view, you are destined to become a top-tier physician with significant international influence and renown.”
“And we are prepared to offer you very generous terms.”
“Feifan, the total investment in Baiyulan Hospital will be no less than one billion yuan, and you will receive no less than ten percent of the hospital’s shares.”
“If you’re willing, you can also be the hospital’s president.”
Seeing the look on Yan Feifan’s face, Ouyang Yanran quickly added, “Of course, you wouldn’t have to worry about the day-to-day management. You’d effectively be an honorary president.”
“The hospital will establish a medical research center in your name, with a guaranteed annual R&D budget of no less than one hundred million yuan.”
“As for your salary, we guarantee you will be the highest-paid doctor in the country.”
“And if you have any other conditions, we can discuss them. Everything is negotiable.”
Yan Feifan opened his mouth to speak, but Ouyang Yanran quickly continued, “Feifan, don’t rush to give an answer. Please, think it over carefully first.”
“This is a major decision!”
“The hospital will take at least two or three years to build, so you have plenty of time to think about it…”
