Chapter 166: Competition
Chapter 166: Chapter 166: Competition
Song Yi and the others were startled. They looked over and saw a wild man with a face smeared with mud.
"A little wild man!" Zhong Mingrui was thrilled! He’d actually seen a live wild man!
"He even speaks our language! Is he a wild man from around here?"
Zhong Mingrui was confused, but his confusion quickly turned to disappointment.
He looked toward Song Yi and Song Zhe. "Song Zhe! You guys were way more like wild men than he is."
"He’s not the real deal."
Song Zhe gave an awkward smile.
’Why did he have to bring up that embarrassing memory...’
"What wild man?! Keep talking nonsense and I’ll beat you up!" Yu Zhenghao glared impatiently at Zhong Mingrui.
Zhong Mingrui immediately hid behind Gu Zhao. "The wild man’s gonna hit me."
Zhong Siqi sighed. "He’s not a wild man, he’s that new guest. It’s fine if your eyesight is so bad you can’t recognize people, but next time, try looking for the drone, okay?"
Zhong Mingrui looked over, and sure enough, he saw the familiar drone. He was deeply disappointed.
"You bunch of losers, are you asking for a beating?!" With Yu Weitao not watching, Yu Zhenghao was acting incredibly arrogant.
He wasn’t even pretending.
"What did you say?" Jiang Yifeng frowned, seemingly unable to comprehend how a child could speak that way.
Yu Zhenghao scoffed. "And you call yourselves celebrities? A bunch of idiots who can’t even understand what people are saying!"
The expressions of the group turned cold.
Just then, someone else came rushing over.
"It’s so good to see you’re all okay!" Yu Weitao ran over. When he saw them all looking energetic and well, a flicker of displeasure showed in his eyes, but his face was full of concern.
He looked at them, his eyes full of reproach. "You all are really something. How could you be so reckless? Do you know where you are?! This isn’t a recording studio or a zoo. The wild animals here will really eat people."
"Don’t treat your lives so carelessly. If you were unhappy with my arrangements yesterday, you could have just told me. We could have all talked it out."
Yu Weitao’s brows knitted together. He sighed. "Everyone needs to prioritize safety. You can’t just run off and risk your lives because you’re feeling disgruntled."
Gu Xulin and the others’ frowns deepened.
’Is this guy nuts?’
’Are we even close? Does he get some kind of kick out of chirping at us and giving us a lecture?’
But they were celebrities, after all. While they had indeed been unhappy that he hadn’t come back for them yesterday, they couldn’t exactly curse him out now.
The kids, however, had no such reservations.
Zhong Mingrui was the first to speak. He put his hands on his hips, looking very unhappy. "What are you rambling on about! Don’t change the subject! Your brother called us losers! And idiots!"
"He’s the bigger loser! And the bigger idiot!"
Song Yi immediately chimed in, "And you’re annoying too! Yesterday you bad-mouthed Big King without knowing the truth! Today you’re going on and on about us! Are you a machine gun, with all your RAT-A-TAT-TAT?"
"Your orders were the problem in the first place," Jiang Yuchen tried to reason with them. "We were soaking wet and you told us to gather tree branches. You also split up from us. Why should we trust you! To protect ourselves, we naturally had to make more reliable preparations."
As Yu Weitao listened to this group of kids, the disgust and loathing in his eyes grew even stronger.
He glanced over at Yu Zhenghao.
Yu Zhenghao avoided his gaze, and Yu Weitao knew in an instant that his younger brother’s bad habits had flared up again.
He put on a casual, nonchalant air. "It seems the little partners really have some strong opinions about my leadership."
"In that case, let’s have a competition. We’ll compete on some essential survival skills." He smiled, looking especially easygoing. "If you lose, you have to cooperate. If I lose, I won’t give you any orders. You can order me around instead, how about that?"
Gu Xulin stepped forward with a cold expression. He didn’t have a public image to maintain and wasn’t afraid of offending anyone.
"Have your brother apologize first. Otherwise, I don’t mind making sure he leaves with a limp!"
Yu Weitao’s smile froze. "It’s just kids spouting nonsense. He’ll apologize. We adults just need to guide them. We can’t get all hot-headed over every little thing."
"Yu Zhenghao, if you really said it, then apologize. Quickly."
Yu Zhenghao bit his lip, extremely reluctant. "Sorry."
"See? Is that alright? He’s always with me in the wilderness, so his... interpersonal skills... aren’t the best. I hope you’ll be a little more tolerant."
[First he pretends to be so generous by suggesting a competition, then after his brother apologizes he tries to justify it with that ’interpersonal skills in the wilderness’ nonsense. So it’s always someone else’s fault for not being tolerant, is that it?]
["’Interpersonal skills in the wilderness’? Give me a break with the cringey damage control! His own brother ran his mouth and provoked them first, and now he’s acting all wronged after apologizing. Yu Weitao’s condescending way of shifting the blame is really something else!]
[That "sorry" from Yu Zhenghao sounded more forced than a sob. I’m afraid he’s still holding a grudge, isn’t he?]
[Let him hold a grudge. The Monkey King will teach him a lesson!]
Gu Xulin was, in fact, very unhappy. ’That’s it?’
Gu Zhao noticed. She tugged on Gu Xulin’s sleeve and shook her head.
Gu Xulin frowned. ’Since when was Gu Zhao so magnanimous?’
The next second, he saw Gu Zhao walk right up, and without another word, she leaped up and slapped Yu Zhenghao across the face.
His mud-smeared face swelled up instantly.
Gu Zhao looked at the mud on her hand in disgust. "Brother! I’m dirty!"
She ran to Gu Xulin’s side and wiped her hand on his clothes.
Gu Xulin: ...
[So satisfying! Our Monkey King is acting like a true monkey! If she were obedient, would she still be the Monkey King?!]
[Yu Zhenghao’s face is as swollen as a steamed bun! Serves him right! That’s what he gets for running his mouth. He finally picked a fight with someone he can’t beat.]
[The "I’m dirty!" part is killing me! The Monkey King will throw down, but her clean-freak tendencies are still there. She still has to get her brother to wipe her hands.]
The moment Yu Zhenghao processed what had happened, he rushed forward to hit Gu Zhao.
When had anyone ever hit him before?! He was always the one hitting other people!
Yu Weitao’s expression darkened when he saw his brother get hit, but he still held Yu Zhenghao back.
"Bro! She hit me!"
Yu Zhenghao was furious. He was actually hit by a little kid! His reputation as the school bully was ruined!
Yu Weitao calmed himself and looked at Gu Zhao. "What was that for? Yu Zhenghao already apologized."
Gu Zhao replied, "I’m just a kid. Don’t be so stingy. I’ll apologize to you too. Sorry!"
She said with a cheeky grin.
Yu Weitao ground out through clenched teeth, "Little Partner Gu is just adorable."
Yu Zhenghao was even angrier, but he didn’t dare defy his older brother.
"Shall we have that competition?" Yu Weitao asked, struggling to control his emotions.
Gu Xulin looked at Gu Zhao. "Want to play? If not, we’ll just ignore them."
The Yu brothers: ...
’Don’t you celebrities maintain your personas?’
"Let’s do it! But our methods of survival are different from the traditional ones," Gu Zhao said, looking at them.
"The survival methods aren’t limited. As long as it works in the end, it counts," Yu Weitao said with a slight chuckle.
’Hah, what the hell do a bunch of kids know.’
He looked at the other guests. Besides Jiang Yifeng, the exploration vlogger, even if the others actually knew a little something, it was all just theory.
’They, on the other hand, had real-world survival experience. Victory was assured!’
’Celebrities? Hah! They could just wait to be ordered around by them!’
"Then let’s make it clear first. Everyone has to be honest. A loss is a loss."
"The loser must obey the winner’s commands and cannot go against them until the show is over."
Yu Weitao and Yu Zhenghao’s expressions brightened considerably. It was obvious they were very confident.
Gu Zhao nodded. "Okay."
"But remember," she added, "you’re the one who said the method doesn’t matter, as long as the result is what counts."
Yu Weitao nodded. Hah. He refused to believe they could pull off anything impressive.
