On a Variety Show and Getting Carried to an Easy Win by Fluffies

Chapter 120: The Snowball Is Going to Hit Me?

Chapter 120: Chapter 120: The Snowball Is Going to Hit Me?

The live comments went blank for a second, then exploded.

[HOLY SHIT! The Bear Mother is right there and she still dared to steal the cub?! Does she have a death wish?!]

[Gu Zhao gets to go home for dinner. What about her? Does she think she’s going home for dinner too?]

[Director Guo, save her!! If the Bear Mother finds out she stole its cub, it’s going to be dinnertime for the bear!!]

[Ye Zuiyi is insane! What an idiot! If you want to die so badly, can’t you find somewhere quiet to do it alone?!]

Director Guo was frantic. ’Why did she have to come on *my* show to get herself killed?!’ he thought. ’Do you have any idea how hard I’ve worked to get where I am today?!’

He swore an oath. If the show somehow survived this, he’d pay the contract termination fees himself to make sure those two brainless idiots from the Ye Family were never allowed back on!

Ye Zuiyi sprinted, clutching the small cub. The cub looked bewildered until it heard its mother’s cry, at which point it began to cry out as well.

Hearing her cub’s cries, the Bear Mother immediately followed the sound.

When Ye Zuiyi saw the Arctic Bear closing in behind her, she angrily pinched the cub in her arms.

’Stupid bear! Couldn’t you have waited until I was a little farther away before you started crying?!’

The cub didn’t seem to feel it.

As the Bear Mother was about to catch up, everyone watching was on the edge of their seats.

Just as the Bear Mother caught up, Ye Zuiyi pulled a scarf from inside her coat and threw it onto the snow.

The Bear Mother saw the scarf and its lumbering body halted. It sniffed the air, a strangely human-like look of fascination appearing on its face.

It completely forgot about its cub, drawn by the scent as it moved closer to the scarf.

Ye Zuiyi seized the opportunity to run. Seeing that the scarf had worked, she breathed a sigh of relief, but at the same time, her hatred for Gu Zhao intensified.

She had stolen the scarf from Gu Xulin before heading out.

She had just been taking a desperate gamble, but now that she had gotten the desired result, she felt even more miserable.

’This kind of special treatment should have been mine!’

’It always comes back to the same thing: a novel world only needs one female lead!’

’And she was the one and only female lead of this world!’

The cub in Ye Zuiyi’s arms could no longer smell the sweet scent from before and began to struggle.

Ye Zuiyi was incredibly irritated. ’These damn animals should just drop dead!’

The Bear Mother clutched Gu Zhao’s scarf, rolling around in the snow and rubbing its head vigorously against the fabric to absorb the scent.

After a while, the snow had rubbed the scent completely off the scarf.

Only then did it remember... its cub had been stolen!

ROAR! ’How despicable! To use a honey trap against me!’

The live comments were stunned by Ye Zuiyi’s move.

[That works?! My cat is always hissing at me. If I could get one of Gu Zhao’s socks, my cat would probably fall hopelessly in love!]

[Willing to pay big money for any of Gu Zhao’s clothes!!!]

[Ye Zuiyi is so smart!! She’s the one who acts like a young lady from a proper wealthy family. Gu Zhao just seems like a wild child.]

[I agree with the comment above! At the end of the day, Ye Zuiyi is just a kid. It’s natural she’d be angry watching someone take what should be hers. You can’t blame her for wanting to prove herself.]

Ye Zuiyi had already run back to the vicinity of the camp. Still clutching the cub, she was the first to spot Zhong Siqi and Zhong Mingrui.

Gu Zhen and Gu Jiao were right behind them.

"There she is!" Zhong Mingrui shouted, having spotted Ye Zuiyi.

Zhong Siqi heard him and let out a sigh of relief. ’As long as she’s okay,’ he thought. But when he looked over, the breath caught in his throat.

"Holy crap! Where did she steal a bear from?!" Gu Jiao’s face was a picture of shock. "Is she nuts?! Why would she bring it back here?!"

Gu Jiao was genuinely shocked. The one time she’d brought home a stray puppy, its mother had chased her the entire way.

’How did Ye Zuiyi dare to do this?!’

Zhong Siqi was dumbfounded, and Gu Zhen was in a similar state. She hadn’t expected everyone on this show to be so dramatic—so willing to risk their lives for the camera.

"Should we run?" Gu Zhen asked tentatively.

’Could it be? Is Ye Zuiyi also good with animals like Gu Zhao? Is that why she was so bold?’

"Put it down! Now!" Zhong Siqi yelled. Then his eyes widened as he saw a shadow looming not far behind Ye Zuiyi.

A massive Arctic Bear had run up right behind her and was staring at her furiously.

Ye Zuiyi didn’t look scared at all. On the contrary, her eyes glinted with excitement.

She dashed over to Zhong Mingrui and shoved the cub into his arms.

"Here, a present for you," she said, her voice laced with urgency.

The moment it was out of her hands, she turned and fled.

[AHHHH! IF ANYONE TRIES TO DEFEND HER AGAIN, I’LL FUCKING BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF YOU!]

[That bitch is pure evil!! Gu Zhao, come save them!!]

[She was just sharing the cute animal with everyone else, she didn’t mean any harm! Stop being so malicious!]

[Yeah, yeah, you’re so right! She didn’t do it on purpose—she’s just completely brainless! Her head is full of sewage!]

[She’s just a kid! She got scared and passed the animal to someone else, that’s a normal reaction! You’re a bunch of adults ganging up on a child. You were probably even naughtier when you were kids.]

Zhong Mingrui looked utterly bewildered. "Brother, when did she become so nice?"

’Nice my ass!’ Zhong Siqi was on the verge of cursing. He immediately snatched the cub from Zhong Mingrui’s arms and set it on the ground.

He grabbed Zhong Mingrui and ran, with Gu Zhen and Gu Jiao scrambling to follow.

"Holy shit! Is she sick in the head?!" Gu Zhen couldn’t hold back any longer. She’d always thought her own sister was a handful, but how could someone even more out of control exist?!

Gu Jiao was absolutely livid. "Is that moron’s brain soaked in shit?!"

The four of them ran for their lives. Ye Zuiyi, who was ahead of them, spotted a small ice cave and immediately ducked inside to hide.

She even blocked the entrance with snow.

Even the good-tempered Zhong Siqi couldn’t stop himself from cursing.

The Bear Mother briefly comforted her cub, then began to chase after Zhong Siqi’s group.

’So the cub-napper had accomplices!’

’Today, I’m going to eat them no matter what!’

The Bear Mother gave chase at full speed.

Zhong Siqi was pulling Zhong Mingrui along, but the younger boy’s short legs couldn’t keep up. He ended up tripping over his own feet and tumbling to the ground.

They happened to be on a small slope, so he started rolling down. Zhong Siqi, who was still holding onto him, lost his balance and went rolling down as well.

Gu Zhen, who was running a little behind with her sister, froze for a second. Then, she decided to follow their example, pulling Gu Jiao down with her to roll.

’They must have a good reason for doing that!’

’They’re experienced! I’ll copy them!’

Gu Jiao: ???

Her mind was reeling and her soul felt like it was flying, but her body was already rolling downhill.

[??? Are they trying to be clever or suicidal?]

[NOOOO!! Gu Xulin and his group are down there! There’s a huge crevasse at the bottom!!]

[AHHHH! Did Ye Zuiyi lead them down this path on purpose?!]

[Oh, you’ve figured it all out again? It’s her first time here, how could she possibly know about it? All you do is spout conspiracy theories. Go watch a detective show or something.]

The Bear Mother: ???

It tilted its head, not quite understanding. ’Did they just commit suicide?’

’Aren’t they stealing my cub anymore?’

The Bear Mother stood at the edge and peered down, only to see two large snowballs rolling away.

It pondered for a moment, then turned and left.

「At the edge of the crevasse.」

Gu Xulin stood at the edge, peering down into the bottomless darkness.

"Wow, there’s a crevasse this deep out here. We should stay clear of the edge."

He took a few steps back. Song Yi grew curious. "Do you think there’s another world down there?"

"Yeah, the Underworld. You want to go down and check in?" Song Zhe retorted, having clearly picked up some snark from Zhong Siqi.

Song Yi pouted. "Brother, you shouldn’t just copy things people say. You’re already unlucky enough as it is. If you keep talking like that, your life will be in real danger."

Without Gu Zhao’s good luck to counteract it, Song Zhe had already fallen on his face and butt more times than he could count on this trip.

"Hey, do you guys hear something?" Song Zhe asked, changing the subject.

"Don’t change the subject, Brother."

Gu Xulin’s expression suddenly turned serious. "Quiet. I think there is a sound."

"It’s just two snowballs," Song Yi blurted out subconsciously. Then everyone froze.

Even Song Yi himself was confused. ’Snowballs?’

"Brother, brother, brother! Am I hallucinating?! I think I’m seeing giant snowballs coming to hit me!" Song Yi cried out in shock.

"RUN!!!"

...

"Where did everyone run off to?" Gu Zhao, shouldering both large and small fish, had been searching for a long time but couldn’t find anyone. All she found was an empty tent nearby.

"Everyone was asking if I was coming home for dinner, and then they’re not even here to wait for me!"

Gu Zhao was fuming. ’It wasn’t easy for me to haul all these fish back!’

’Now I’m just like these fish... completely superfluous!’

"Director! Where’s my brother?! Did he disown me or something?!" Gu Zhao yelled, looking up at the drone.
