Chapter 605: The Purple-Clothed’s Invitation
Chapter 605 -262: The Purple-Clothed’s Invitation
“It’s obvious, isn’t it?”
Fang Shuwen glanced back and saw the ships sinking with a GLUG GLUG GLUG. He froze for a moment.
He heard Xia Weiyuan gasp.
“It wasn’t enough to kill them, you even scuttled their ships!?”
“No, I didn’t do that.”
Fang Shuwen explained.
Then, with a series of THUMPS, Zuo Xuan, his sister, and Zhou Zhengze leaped onto the deck and came over.
“Hero Fang, the ships have been scuttled.”
Fang Shuwen realized what had happened.
“Oh, so it was you… Forget it. What’s done is done.”
There was no need to sink those ships; it’s not like those men could have escaped anyway.
It takes time for a large ship to get underway. By then, Fang Shuwen would have already killed them all.
The water below wasn’t calm, either.
There were too many bodies, and sharks were tearing at them in a frenzy.
Fortunately, Zuo Xuan and the others had returned in one piece, not snatched away by the sharks.
“So you *did* tell them to sink the ships.”
Xia Weiyuan’s expression was bitter.
Fang Shuwen thought for a moment and felt there was no need to explain further. He said,
“Let’s not talk about that. To continue our previous conversation.”
“Although your Celestial Prison Island doesn’t have a Langhuan Blessed Land, you do have Martial Arts Manuals from the various sects of the East Sea?”
“Is that true?”
“Well…”
Xia Weiyuan nodded.
“Not from *every* sect, but we have collected a portion of them.”
“The East Sea has always been chaotic, with endless conflicts.”
“Over our many years of operating in the East Sea, Celestial Prison Island has indeed acquired quite a few Martial Arts Manuals…”
“Does that mean it’s highly likely that someone from your Celestial Prison Island killed the people on that other ship?”
Fang Shuwen said thoughtfully.
Li Cheng hurriedly interjected, “Impossible! Don’t you…”
Fang Shuwen glanced at him, and Li Cheng quickly lowered his head, muttering,
“You can’t just spout nonsense.”
His voice was so quiet that Fang Shuwen had to listen carefully to make it out.
Fang Shuwen shook his head.
“I’m not trying to pin this on you. It’s just that you said it yourselves: Celestial Prison Island has many Martial Arts Manuals. Someone who is proficient in so many different Martial Arts is most likely from your island.”
“Of course, this is just one possibility…”
“But besides Celestial Prison Island, you don’t know if there are any other experts in the East Sea who are masters of various Martial Arts.”
“So for now, Celestial Prison Island is the most likely suspect.”
His words were logical.
Xia Weiyuan stopped Li Cheng, who didn’t dare to argue but couldn’t resist talking back.
She looked up at Fang Shuwen.
“Since you are Fang Shuwen, how do you plan to deal with us?”
“How do you think I should deal with you?”
Fang Shuwen asked with a smile.
Xia Weiyuan took a deep breath.
“We don’t want to die. And just now, we only stepped forward because we wanted to stand up for you. That’s why… that’s why we revealed ourselves.”
“Can you let us go on account of that?”
“You can.”
Fang Shuwen nodded.
“I know that’s not enough, but… Huh?”
Xia Weiyuan stopped mid-sentence as she processed his words. She looked at Fang Shuwen.
“What did you say?”
“I said, you can.”
Fang Shuwen smiled.
“Don’t see me as some monster. To be honest, I am by no means a bloodthirsty person…”
“Never mind, you wouldn’t believe me even if I said it.”
“In short, since you bear us no ill will, I won’t kill you without reason.”
“If you want to leave, you’re free to go.”
Xia Weiyuan and Li Cheng were instantly filled with the relief of having survived a disaster.
But before they could even utter their thanks, Luo Shuqing spoke up.
“Wait a moment.”
‘Is there another twist before we can escape?’ Xia Weiyuan’s heart tightened.
She couldn’t help but look at Luo Shuqing.
But Luo Shuqing was wearing a mask, so it was impossible to see her expression.
Fang Shuwen also looked at Luo Shuqing.
“What is it?”
“Since they’re from Celestial Prison Island, they must be experts at examining corpses.”
Luo Shuqing pointed at the bodies on the ground and said:
“Let them examine these bodies. They might be able to find some clues.”
“That makes sense.”
Fang Shuwen nodded.
“Would you two be so kind as to help us?”
“This… Of course, we can.”
Xia Weiyuan and Li Cheng exchanged a look and began to inspect the corpses on the ground.
A moment later, Xia Weiyuan’s brow furrowed. She stared thoughtfully at a body with a hole punched through its chest.
Fang Shuwen walked over and followed her gaze, a little puzzled.
“What’s wrong with this body?”
Xia Weiyuan looked up at Fang Shuwen and was momentarily taken aback…
‘If one ignored the crimson on his sleeves, if one hadn’t seen the ruthlessness with which he had just exploded into a killing frenzy, just by looking at this face, how could anyone believe that he was the Demon Evil God who had killed countless people?’
He had neither a grim, ruthless air about him nor an overwhelming killing intent.
Just a subtle charisma that made it impossible not to stare at him.
‘I must be going crazy,’ Xia Weiyuan thought. ‘I’m actually starting to believe that Fang Shuwen isn’t a bloodthirsty monster…’
Besides, she couldn’t keep staring at his face. Looking too long made her blush.
She shook her head hard, returning to the main topic. She pointed at the corpse’s chest and said:
“Look at the chest. It’s scorched black.”
Fang Shuwen said, “Oh.”
Xia Weiyuan felt he didn’t understand. Just as she was about to speak, she heard Fang Shuwen say:
“It’s Thunder Force.”
Xia Weiyuan’s head snapped up.
“You could tell?”
“You pointed it out so clearly. If I still couldn’t see it, I’d have to be blind, wouldn’t I?”
