Chapter 460 - 213: This Is Too Absurd
Chapter 460: Chapter 213: This Is Too Absurd
The water in the tub had long since gone cold, but thankfully the weather was warm. Besides, her Inner Strength protected her, so she didn’t mind.
After hurriedly washing up, she stepped out of the tub. Just as she had put on her clothes, the door creaked open.
Yu Yaoguang slipped back into the room.
But the radiant, sensuous glow on her face was something Miao Feichan had never seen before.
Miao Feichan felt a subconscious flicker of panic and wanted to hide.
’I can’t let Yu Yaoguang know I didn’t sleep all night, can I?’
’Then Yu Yaoguang would know for sure that I found out she snuck out for a tryst with her lover.’
’But on second thought, she’s the one who should be feeling guilty. What do I have to feel guilty about?’
But when she saw Yu Yaoguang bypass the bed and come straight toward her, she couldn’t help but panic.
The next moment, their eyes met.
Yu Yaoguang froze.
"You... you weren’t asleep?"
"I just woke up."
Miao Feichan said, perfectly composed.
"You were gone when I woke up. Where did you go?"
Yu Yaoguang, however, eyed the damp spots on her clothes, her gaze full of suspicion.
"Did you really just wake up?"
Miao Feichan turned her head slightly, her gaze shifting away.
"Of course..."
Before she could finish, Yu Yaoguang suddenly reached out.
"Quick, help me."
"Huh?"
Miao Feichan stared blankly for a moment before going over to support Yu Yaoguang.
"What’s... what’s wrong with you?"
"I got rammed by a bull."
"..."
’This is... this is ridiculous!’
...
...
The next morning, Fang Shuwen emerged from his room looking refreshed and positively glowing.
He was just about to knock on the adjacent door when it creaked open.
Miao Feichan opened the door. Just as Fang Shuwen was about to greet her, she shot him a glare and brushed past him.
Getting a glare like that first thing in the morning left Fang Shuwen completely baffled.
He peeked inside.
"Sect Leader Yu... are you up?"
"I’m up, I’m up! Getting up right now."
Yu Yaoguang’s voice drifted out.
Fang Shuwen glanced around, and seeing that no one was watching, he slipped inside.
Yu Yaoguang was straightening her clothes and didn’t look at him. Fang Shuwen walked over to the table and poured himself a cup of tea.
"What’s wrong with Elder Miao? How did I offend her?"
Yu Yaoguang glanced back at him.
"It’s nothing."
"Alright, then. What are the arrangements on your end?"
Fang Shuwen asked.
"I’ll send them back. I’m going with you."
Yu Yaoguang said softly.
"If everything goes according to your plan, they won’t be much help against Shi Wuya."
Fang Shuwen nodded.
"Then it’s settled."
"Let’s go. We can get something to eat downstairs."
Yu Yaoguang walked up to Fang Shuwen and naturally took his hand.
Fang Shuwen got up to leave but suddenly glanced at the bed. The next moment, a strange expression crossed his face.
"Why is the bed... over here?"
"What is it?"
Yu Yaoguang asked.
Fang Shuwen shook his head.
"Never mind, it’s nothing..."
’But he had a pretty good idea now why he’d gotten that glare this morning.’
’The bed had been moved right up against the one in his own room.’
’In other words, only a single wall separated the two beds.’
’If someone were to break through that wall...’
With Fang Shuwen’s level of Martial Arts, he really should have noticed this much earlier.
But under the circumstances last night, it would have been asking too much for him to notice such details.
He rubbed his chin, glanced at Yu Yaoguang, and sighed.
’He had thought that with Yu Yaoguang joining him on the trip to Divine Deer Valley, there would be plenty of opportunities to... practice his Martial Arts.’
’But now it seemed he’d have to be more discreet.’
...
...
A torrential rain. A lonely tower.
Inside the dilapidated tower, a man in a conical hat sat on a chair, as still as a statue.
He had not read a single book since that night.
Nor had he done anything else.
He was waiting... and he had been waiting for a long time.
An eagle’s cry shattered the silence in the tower.
A gyrfalcon flew into the tower and landed on his shoulder.
Rainwater dripped from the bird, dampening his robes, but he remained unmoved, merely reaching out to remove the letter from the message tube on its leg.
After reading the letter, he did not lose his composure as he had last time.
He simply rose slowly to his feet and started walking out of the tower.
His pace was unhurried. With every step he took, a figure emerged from a dark corner, falling in behind him like a single, unified shadow.
"Where are you going?"
A voice suddenly echoed from another direction.
Shi Wuya’s steps faltered, but only for a brief moment... before he continued on his way.
BOOM!!!
The wall in the direction the voice had come from was suddenly torn apart by an invisible force.
Yet, Shi Wuya came to a complete stop.
Then the voice came again, this time from another direction:
"Your heart is in turmoil. Your killing intent is strong. Are you going to kill someone?"
"I’d like to kill you first."
Shi Wuya’s voice was laced with an endless chill. The torrential rain falling from the sky froze in midair without warning.
And then, a figure appeared before Shi Wuya.
It was a man wearing a painted mask.
The mask, painted with the image of a large rooster, gave him a grotesque, almost comical appearance.
Shi Wuya didn’t laugh. His eyes, visible beneath the brim of his hat, held nothing but an icy glint.
"It seems something really has gone wrong. Otherwise, there’s no reason it should have taken this long to obtain the Seven Stars."
The Masked Man sighed.
"You know you can’t kill me, so calm yourself for a moment.
"Tell me who you want to kill. Perhaps I can help."
Shi Wuya took a deep breath.
"The Demon Evil God."
"Fang Shuwen?"
A flicker of surprise appeared in the Masked Man’s eyes.
"Him... Why him?"
"The Seven Stars fell into the hands of Miao Feichan. She has a history with him, and they met in the Northern Domain.
"Everyone in Night Rain Tower under my command is dead.
"And it’s all your fault!!"
Shi Wuya’s voice wasn’t loud, but it seethed with a boiling killing intent.
"I see."
The Masked Man nodded.
"But you’re the one who took the commission. Before all this, we had no idea the matter would involve the Human World Demon God.
"This was a completely unforeseen circumstance.
"So, you can’t blame me.
"However, our goals remain aligned. Dragon Abyss wants the Seven Stars, and you want Fang Shuwen dead.
"I can help you with that."
